I always give«chain schmains» 2 stars because most are 2 star restaurants(My opinion). The staff here though deserve 3 ½ stars. My wife and I were waiting for a movie and decided to grab an appetizer. The tostada/nachos were burnt, greasy, and overloaded with ground beef. Next, time I will order them meatless. Dont worry, I am not a vegetarian, that’s unless I choose to be for a day. So, the food is less desirable here, but the ambience and location is. This is a great location to meet friends for drinks and fill up on the free chips and salsa. But, you gotta order the queso blanco was superb.

Being new to town I’ve been out and about eating at different places. I enjoyed my meal here and was satisfied with my server. Service was prompt polite and will be returning.

Food is really good. Atmosphere is good. Service is not good. Sitting at bar and one girl to serve a very large area. It’s 3 days before Christmas in West Village. Would they not think it would be crowded. I don’t blame this young lady. I blame the management. More help and training would help all of us who are waiting and waiting.

I really like Mi Cocina! I’ve only tried a couple of things and must say, after trying the beef fajitas(sunset style) I will never get anything else from here. They are so delicious! Whatever that sunset sauce has in it, I’m addicted. This particular location has a great atmosphere, especially if you are able to get a table outside. The mambo taxis are dangerous! But very good of course. The skinny margarita is also pretty dangerous but yummy. Me and my friends love to come here whenever we are craving some Mexican food. It is all delicious and flavorful! You won’t be disappointed.

Quick look rating: 5⁄5 Food & Quality, 5⁄5 Service, 5⁄5 Experience, 5⁄5 Will I return Love the«Paulies» soft chicken burrito’s with shredded chicken and mocaheta sauce. Now, mind you the mocaheta sauce is hot as thunder and I do love it! I have had other dishes, but my go to dish is the«Paulies» shredded chicken soft tacos without cheese. The other item to remember to order is a «Mambo Taxi Margarita» It’s deadly so be careful! It’s great little margarita and then they swirl in sangria. Now with that much alcohol in the drink, they will then add a quarter to an eight of a frozen lime to help keep the frozen drink from separating. (By the way, I tried at one point a michelada from a couple of different bartenders at different dates. I would have rated them about a 4 out of 5.) The service has always been good. If you are going to the movie theater across the way, just tell the waitstaff what time your movie starts and they will do their darndest to get you out of there in time. The staff is a group of hard workers that have some great customer focus! It must be that the management treats them well and has good direction! Keep up the great work! Bottom line: I would come back again!

I got the mama’s corn tacos and seriously have had better corn tacos at Chipotle. These had no flavor and were very basic. The chips and salsa were decent. Our waiter was great checked on us often. Waiter was very responsive and alerted mgmt immediately. I’m not sure I will be back.

I would have given this place lower stars but we got a new waiter. The lady who seated us was very nice and would check on us a lot. The 1st waitress didn’t even fake a smile. They reseated us and the guy was MUCH better. We sat outside. Weather was perfect. I got the double Margarita and they fixed it WELL!!! worth the $ 10. We got queso with shredded beef… omg sooo good!!! And I ordered the best of Mi Cocina… wow!!! The food was perfect! They give you a lot. I can’t wait to heat up the rest that I took home.

Mi Cocina is a great place to eat in a very convenient location. It’s usually packed since it’s in West Village, quite loud, and the service is either hit or miss. We always sit outside to people watch, but inside has a great atmosphere. The tex mex is on par with other restaurants here in Dallas. Brisket anything is what I always go for with their Mambo Taxi. If brisket isn’t offered as an option for a dish on the menu, just ask and they always sub it at no cost.

I received great service, which was the only good thing about the restaraunt. The manager — walter is an amazing human being. The ambience was ruined by a rude manager yelling at one of his service staff and people vacuuming as I walked in. The place feels like a TGIF with Ikea decorations. It’s sad that this is called Mexican or Tex-Mex food. It really shouldn’t be labeled food at all. My fajita plate looked like dog food which had little bits of green plastic in it. Ya, I wouldn’t have fed my dog that fajita platter. Horrible salmon. No flavor at all. The only flavor that I detected in the food was badly chopped jalapeño just crazy spice with no other flavor at all. Not even salt.

Some colleagues and I dined there week before last. We normally avoid chains, but we were from different parts of the country that don’t have this chain. It was yummy. The mojitos were amazing. We ended ordering several appetizers and just chowing on them all night. Fantastic service, it’s in a great area, would definitely go back!

We are Rockwall Mi Cocina regulars and every so often we vernture out. I took one of my new supervisors here to lunch the other day. She ordered lunch fajitas and I ordered my usual Ernies Chicken. We also had the queso blanco with brisket and that’s always awesome. Service was great and the restaurant was clean and perfect for a lunch meeting. Will come again.

Lively spot on Friday nights. Beautifully people all around. It’s the perfect patio dinner/bar scene for any night out on the town. Even though we waited 45 min for a table to have dinner, hanging out in the bar made it go by quickly. We ordered white queso with brisket to start. Entrees consisted of Poblano enchiladas, Tacos al carbon and Rico salad. We finished it up with a Chocolate Tres leches cake. Our service at both the bar and at dinner was superb. The staff is personable and polite.

Good location for this place but I left unimpressed. There’s an abundance of Tex Mex choices in the DFW and I can’t see why anyone would bind themselves to this one. The food is good but there’s nothing extraordinary about the menu. I think they play it way too safe in consideration of their(mostly) American clientele. Service is good. This coming from someone who is used to a more authentic flavor of Mexican food… But I think you can find better, more reasonably priced, more flavorful Tex Mex somewhere else. Don’t believe the hype.

Mi Cocina is a well known chain for tex next food that I’ve always wanted to try. After going there, I regret it. The food is so heavy and it made me feel very gross afterwards. On top of that our waiter was horrible, it took over 10 minutes to get someone over to order and no one filled our waters until we were done with dinner. I ordered the crispy chicken enchilada platter with extra rice and no beans and my friend ordered the chicken chimichanga. The enchiladas were a little too hard and crispy, but everything else was good! The tortilla on the chimichanga was too thick and very greasy. The overall experience just wasn’t that great to be honest.

My favorite location for this restaurant for whenever I’m in Dallas. Tex Mex menu style. Pros — It’s all about the dilemma and mambo taxi filled with tequila. 2 dilemma’s will take you there! ;-) — Good selection of tequila — Outside seating — Great place for people watching — The Beef Tacos are to die for! — Ask for Hector, he’s an awesome bartender

Mmmmmmmmmeeeehhhhhh … Went with a group of friends. Not really a fan of chain places but when in Rome … Manager and servers were friendly and helpful. Refill on bar and regular drinks was constant. Chips and salsa were plentiful. Large menu selection plus a specials menu. Ordered the queso con chorizo — from the specials menu. Ok, I know pork chorizo is a little greasier then say regular sausage, that being said, the cheese was floating in grease. As if it needed a life preserver in its own skillet. Once navigating through the grease and managing to get it served onto a tortilla it was then disgusting to watch grease drip out the other end of the tortilla when taking a bite. Once past the artery clogging river of grease the queso and meat actually had a great taste and texture. It definitely wasn’t a $ 10 dish. I knew I should have went with my standard — side of rice, beans, tortilla shells. Parking is a disaster and the snoody«uptown» vibe aren’t worth the hassle to me. I’d rather hit up a hole in the wall …

I have to update to 5 stars because I love this place so much. I’m the first to admit I have a salsa problem. I go through several bowls while dining at any good Mexican restaurant. I’ve been going to Mi Cocinas for over a decade, and have never gotten anything more than the little bowls. Alas, our waiter on Friday finally hooked me up. I got a giant bowl of their delicious salsa!!! Life complete. Wish I knew his name so I could give a personal shoutout.

Solid Tex-Mex chain in the DFW. This particular location is in West Village, so it’s ideal for happy hour. Since it’s not that far from the Trolley, it’s also good for getting dinner before heading out to all of the bars on McKinnery/Cedar Springs. For me, they have one of the better chips and salsa in the area. Normally, I go for a warm salsa with chunks of onion and cilantro. This place serves a cold, non-chunky salsa, but it’s still full of flavor and has a good tomato taste to it. 5 stars. The enchildas are also the best in the area for me. I usually get one beef and one chicken, and the sauces that accompany them are thick, and full of flavor. If you want to try something new, try their crispy enchildadas verdes. Instead of being baked, these enchiladas are fried(bascially a taquito/flauta) and then covered with a verde sauce and fresh crema. Very good! Not to be overlooked, the rice and beans are also on point. 5 stars. In addition to the food, this places makes killer margaritas. From the standard margarita to the mambo taxi/limosuine, you can’t go wrong. Bonus points for the bar tenders not being shy with the tequila: 5 stars. If I had to make a criticism, it would be that I am not a fan of their usage of pre-made tortillas. All things considered, this place is a 5 star establishment, but until they start using fresh tortillas(those in the know can taste the difference), it will have to settle for 4 stars. Still the best Tex-Mex in the area though.

There are few things I enjoy more than bourgeois Mexican restaurants. Seriously, I love nice Mexican/tex-mex joints and Mi Cocina makes this list. Mi Cocina is smack dab in the middle of one of the nicest shopping complexes I’ve seen in quite some time. We had about a 30 minute wait so we strolled around while we waited for our buzzer. The service here is fantastic! The waiter was attentive, didn’t mess anything up, and our food came out quickly considering how busy it was. I was told I hadddd to order the Mambo Taxi despite not liking tequila. I was urged to make an exception for this drink so I went with it. Carpe Diem! It wasn’t bad at all. It’s a frozen margarita with sangria added. Would I order it again? Probably not but it was still a treat. They had a pretty decent cocktail list and I’m more of a mojito man. For my meal, I went with the fish tacos. The dish has 3 small-medium corn tortilla tacos stuffed with tilapia and savory seasoning. They put the shredded lettuce, tomato, cilantro/green rice, and cole slaw on the side for you to stuff them yourself! I would totally get this dish again. PS Don’t worry, they bring out plenty of chips before your meal to curb your hunger!
