I debated between 3 or 4 stars… Let’s say 3.5. Perhaps I am used to bakeries like Six Ping Bakery or Kamalan Bakery(in Houston) where the selections are huge, the breads look cute and pretty, and the aroma of freshly-baked bread blasts at you as soon as you step inside. I thought New York Bakery was a bit underwhelming as it looked very empty(in the middle of the day), didn’t smell like a bakery, and there were perhaps no more than 10 or 12 different items. I’ve seen a lot of their breads at supermarkets and other places, but they were always cold or stale-looking, and I have even found mold on some.(I blame the supermarkets for keeping old bread on the shelves though.) Nevertheless, here, at least despite the small selection the breads(roughly $ 1.40/each) felt soft and I could believe that they are fresh. I bought a few to try and they were a good amount of sweetness. The bavarian cream was good; not too sweet. The lady(perhaps the owner) working was nice.

I always stop there when I’m in Dallas, my wife loves the red bean rolls, what a great place.

The best mochi rice cakes in town? Quite possibly. We walked in on a Saturday afternoon, and the owner was meticulously making them by hand. She speaks decent English and described many of the pastries to us. In addition to the standard red bean-filled white mochi balls, they also have mini ones dusted with breadcrumbs or cinnamon. The vanilla cream-filled breads taste very fresh & authentic as well. Compared to its counterparts, NY Bakery’s quality is top-notch. Its smaller storefront is more than compensated for by its lower prices. Located in the Komart supermarket plaza, this is an ideal Asian bakery for take-outs.

Delicious, slightly sweet, soft breads. This place doesn’t have the selection of some of the other Korean bakeries in Dallas, but as far as the items they do have… they do it better than most of the other bakeries. Never dry, balanced sweetness, and light flavorful cream fillings.(The coffee cream bread has a very nice, strong coffee flavor!) Each pastry is around 1.00(tax included) so bring some cash as you must spend at least $ 10 to use a credit/debit card.
