My husband and I ate here for our anniversary. I have a very strict diet(AIP) for health reasons and was easily able to find something to eat. We even had dessert which was delicious! I can’t recommend this place enough. The service was incredible.

Visited Origin last weekend and got the acai granola bowl and a glass of their cold brew. Both were phenomenal. I am excited to go back and try some of their other menu offerings.

When my friend picked this place for our monthly brunch date, I googled the menu and was immediately disappointed. Everything looked so… healthy. Bleck. If I’m expected to be awake, dressed, and mostly-agreeable before noon on a Sunday, there’d better be pancakes and a mimosa involved. Gluten free rabbit food just doesn’t do it for me. My pouting was quickly put to rest by the best cold brew iced coffee I’ve ever had. In fact, it’s the only coffee of any variety that I could’ve drunk black. I didn’t, because I always prefer that my iced coffee taste as much like a milkshake as possible, but I could’ve. Then. I saw The King. I’m not sure how I had missed it while browsing the menu on line, but just reading the description made me giddy. «Vanilla French toast, rum spiced caramel, grilled banana, sea salt almond butter mousse, bacon.» It’s like the folks at Origin knew that some sugar monsters like me would be dragged there by some health nuts like my friend, and that they ought to accommodate us with as much sinful goodness on one plate as they could possibly manage. If that really was their mission, they executed beautifully. Seriously. So long as they make it the same every time, it will definitely be considered one of my favorite brunch dishes in Dallas. I’ll let other people comment on the atmosphere, service, other menu items, etc., But to those of you dreading a brunch of quinoa and brussels sprouts: fear not.

Poor service… unorganized. There was lack of communication between the waiter and the servers. Fries were brought out cold. Food was just okay.

This place was a real disappointment and completely disorganized. I think poor management is to blame, frankly. I wish I could write a review on all the brunch entrees we tried, however, the most recommended items on the menu weren’t available by 11:30 am. A lot if the dishes use brisket or pork, but they didn’t have any brisket. We don’t eat pork, so we were screwed. They knew they were out of brisket early on but didn’t modify the menu for the Sunday brunch rush. We were forced to order things we didn’t really want for breakfast: burger and chicken and mozzarella sandwich on a pretzel bun, called Capparezza. The capparezza was presented to me on a baguette. I know my carbs-I asked the waiter, Joel, about the missing pretzel roll. Poor guy was already so embarrassed by being out of other things we wanted. He immediately went to the kitchen where he was told that they were out of pretzel rolls. Little tenacious Joel went and found some extra pretzel rolls in the back and made the kitchen fix my sandwich. While waiting, my husband and I shared his burger. It was not good, overcooked, and tasted charred. The fries were good though. When I got my sandwich, I was so surprised by the flavor. Thank god I got to have it with the pretzel roll, because it was the star of the show. It was probably the best sandwich I have ever eaten. I was excited to try the only dessert on the menu: a paleo Chocolate mousse with marshmallow fluff. They were out of that too. It would be fine if were were told or the wait staff was informed, but that wasn’t the case. 10 mins after we ordered the dessert, a manager came and said they were out and offered us free coffee. When did $.50 coffee become a consolation for dessert or bad service? Needless to say, we declined and left. Dear«management»(if that is what you like to call yourselves): Don’t put your waitstaff in such an embarrassing position as to not properly inform them of sold out or missing items. Another customer told us this is a common problem there and this was not a unique instance. Don’t offer 1 dessert and not have enough on hand to make through the early brunch crowd. The only reason I would consider returning would be for our waiter, Joel, and my sandwich. However, out of fear of the restaurant being out of one of the ingredients in the Capparezza, I would not bother.

Snapshot: 4.4÷5 Freshness & Quality, 5⁄5 Service, 3.7÷5 Price A buddy and I just enjoyed lunch at Origin and I was impressed. The service was prompt and knowledgeable. The menu offers various options. Everything is fresh and seasonal. Regardless of your food preferences, Origin has options. I enjoyed the Caprezza(Chicken with pesto, mozzarella and tomatoes on a Pretzel bun) with a side of Brussels Sprouts. Quite delicious but $ 17 seemed a bit high. Overall, I enjoyed the experience and would go back.

Food came out one hour later. Eggs on two plates didn’t even show up on the plate. Short staffed. Burnt pancakes. Twice. They at least comped us for horrible service. Hope they improve.

We had family friends in town that wanted something light but high in flavor. This place definitely hit the mark! Our waiter was very nice and knowledgeable on what was good. Myself and a girlfriend had the beet salad, since we weren’t too hungry. It was amazing! Great flavor and good size. My fiancé and our guy friend had a bowl that had buffalo and eggs. They both were wanting to lick the bowl when it was all gone! They also have amazing specialty cocktails! I will have to go back to this one! Thank you for the great food and the perfect service.

Loved this restaurant! It was a great find in Dallas during a short business trip I took down there. The food was delicious and healthy. And there’s enough variety to satisfy the health-conscious diner and the burger-loving carnivore as well. For an appetizer we shared the paleo hummus with veggie crudités in some root veggie chips. Even my non-paleo dinner companions enjoyed it! For my meal, I ordered salmon with roasted asparagus, roasted brussel sprouts. Very satisfying! Would’ve loved if the salmon was wild, but alas, nothing is perfect! The service was very nice. They were very friendly and accommodating and put up with our sense of humors. Definitely recommended if you’re looking for a nice place for dinner while in Dallas!

Mediocre at best. 2.5 Stars 3 of the 7 did not eat the food One dish was ordered without Brussels sprouts It arrived with Brussellsprouts A order of fries had to be asked about 10 minutes into the meal The place itself is loud The other 4 diners stated the food was not that good. Not one dish was entirely eaten. The waitress was pleasant but not great. The manager asked if we wanted something else when informed we did not like the food. We politely declined. ,$ 150 + $ 30 tip for 7 people at brunch not unreasonable but for this dining experience it was a total waste

Came here during dinner and found out breakfast is not served all day(not sure why I thought it did). When my boyfriend and i was about to leave, we were told by the manager that they can serve us the breakfast menu, which shows how much they care about customer service. We ended up ordering the hash bowl with grass fed ground beef and avocado, and the veggie omelet. Hash bowl wasn’t as good as I expected, kind of bland and the hash was too soft. The veggie omelet was honestly the tastiest omelet I’ve ever had: flavorful and the side veggies went really well with it. The manager also allowed me to order the bottomless mimosa from the brunch menu, which I took great advantage off. The manager was also extremely friendly and came by to check on us often. He kept refilling my mimosa even though it was close to closing time, unlike other places that tries to kick their customer out. There was another table sitting close to us that seems like regulars, which was also well served by the manager. The way they went out of their way to serve each customer is outstanding.

My hubby took me to dinner here last night as a surprise date. After completing Whole 30 a few weeks ago, we have been drawn to farm to table restaurants with healthy options with sustainable ingredients. Origin did not disappoint. While we made a reservation for 7pm on a Saturday night, we would have been able to walk in without a problem. I would suggest making a reservation though. We might have just gotten lucky. I wanted to eat everything on the menu, and we both decided on the grass fed burger. At $ 15, it was a steal for the amount of food we were given and the quality. My husband and I would have easily split it. Our sever was a bit eccentric, but endearing all the less. This place operates as a team so there is a main server, but various members of the staff will wait on your table as well. The building is modern and open. Definitely a really chill place to come on a date or with friends. Can’t wait to try their brunch!

I dig the ambiance, wine selection, service, and easy parking. Tried mostly everything they offer on my various stop ins. Substitutions are accommodated. I did my birthday dinner, been with friends for a casual lunch on several occasions and the last was a few weeks ago with a gorgeous man. I shoot for the greens with almonds and sub salmon for chicken. Rare me! Any Lioness knows her meat should be on point. The veggies are always perfect. Stay clear of sweet tater fries though. Hummus is terrific but a small portion for the price. He got the pancakes. With a salad lol. Whatever. The only issue I ever have here is it takes forever every time I go. So just go if you are strolling otherwise it will drive you crazy!

If you’re like me you’re addicted to food. and fitness! It’s definitely a type of lifestyle that doesn’t fit everyone’s book, but it’s what I do! Origin Kitchen is constantly allowing me to eat out, enjoy creative and tasty flavors, and still feel like I wasn’t weighing myself down. I’ve been really after their acai bowl lately; a cold purée of acai, covered with freshly baked granola mixed with slivers of almonds, dried fruit, fresh blackberries, banana slices, and just a touch of a honey drizzle! So refreshing! Paleo pancakes are not to be missed! I’m not much of a pancake person, nor am I big on paleo, or any specific food diets in general, but wow, these are amazing! No syrup needed either, as they have just a touch of sweetness! For someone wanting a savory bite, I definitely recommend the Capparezza sandwich which includes tender chicken, pesto, tomatoes, spinach, and I added caramelized onions. Although just a sandwich, the bread was extremely soft and delicate yet, still held everything together. Great flavors in this sandwich, making it a winning combo for sure! Depending on what your mood is, Origin Kitchen will for sure hit the spot! Make sure to add this into your rotation ASAP!

Had an hour to kill for dinner and not being from Dallas typed in gluten free on Unilocal and found this club banger of a restaurant. Parked in the back, walked in and sat down at the bar. This place was packed and booming on a Thursday night. Let the bartender know I was gluten free and he took care of me with a sangria which was very good and I got the hummus dip which was some fresh shish shash of delicious grub, yes I think I made that word up. I had a pork loin with some greens and roasted vegetables which was decent but nothing to make me go bam boom. I’d def shop around my options next time I’m in Dallas since there was nothing wow about this place but the interior and service are beautiful.

I agree that the space is beautiful! Perfect spot to stop for lunch. However on my visit for a working lunch with coworkers, the service was a little too slow for comfort. Our server was attentive and friendly and we were greeted right when we entered. The sweet potato fries were outstanding an yes, enough for the whole table. My Caprezza Chicken sandwich tasted great, but the bread choice was not ideal as it made it very difficult to eat. The baguette was a little too tough to bite through and I had to dive in with a knife and fork. The dinner menu and plating looks amazing.

I only had their famous hash browns. You’re probably looking at me and thinking — you’re making a review of a place on hash browns? Wait… just wait. They’re not the standard mashed-griddled hash browns. To be honest, I’m not even sure why they’re called hash browns. They’re just diced SWEET potatoes, cooked in a griddle with a variety of other spices. And it’s their mix of spices that make the dish stands out over all other hash browns I’ve eaten. It’s mixed in with apple, bacon, toasted sunflower seeds, dried currants, and raisins. And it’s topped with two pieces of eggs(get them sunny-side up, the runny yolk does wonders with potatoes). Now, it also tasted good with an avocado or any other additional sides(there’s an upcharge). But this is where my gripe comes in — $ 3 for HALF of a small avocado? Where have they been shopping, Central Market? Whole Foods? Seriously? I buy my whole avocado at 69 cents a pop at Fiesta. «Oh, it’s organic» — puleaze, they’re all imported from Mexico. And here’s my other gripe — this dish could use one more, just ONEMORE, egg. I ate my eggs first before finishing the hash browns. And my last gripe is about the service — I didn’t find it friendly. But I’m sure it depends on the server. Would I come back? Probably yes. And I’ll bring my 69 cents avocado too.

If you’re looking for a brunch spot that allows you to maintain a healthy diet, look no further! Origin Kitchen and Bar is your spot!!! I’ve been here on a few occasions(all for brunch) and I’m definitely a fan. Each time I made reservations through Open Table and upon arrival I was seated almost immediately. As this place can get busy during the brunch hour, I suggest making a reservation(or prepare to wait). The restaurant layout is very open with a modern décor. The seating includes tables/chairs, booths and bar seating. Also, there is a patio for those that choose to venture outside(the patio is on the McKinney Avenue side of the restaurant). The staff is always friendly and attentive. And believe it or not, they all seem to enjoy what they’re doing. The ambiance is casual so there’s no need to put on your ‘Sunday best’(just keep it presentable). While the space and ambiance are part of the appeal as to why I enjoy Origin, the real reason is the food. In addition to being super fresh and healthy, it’s very flavorful. Whoever believes eating healthy requires sacrificing flavor needs to make a visit to Origin. In addition to being full of flavor the portions are large enough share. My favorites are their Warm Shaved Brussels Salad and the Grass Fed Burger. Who needs fries when you can have some amazing Brussel Sprouts? And if I have room left, I finish my meal off with an entrée called«The King». If you like French Toast you must order this. Don’t think twice about it; just order it. As for beverages, they brew a nice cup of java. I’ve also had Mimosas here and surprisingly they were tasty. I’m not a fan of Mimosas as the orange juice to champagne ratio usually doesn’t align to my liking(usually there’s too much orange juice). Thankfully that wasn’t the case here. I hear they have a very tasty Moscow Mule. I plan to ‘sample’ it on my next visit. Lastly, there is a parking lot available. It is shared with several other places in the area so plan accordingly. I always enjoy dining here and look forward to my next visit.

The wife found this place when we were looking for a good Sunday breakfast/brunch location. What a great find! The place is small but we were seated immediately without a wait. The noise level is pretty high because the sound reverberates off the walls. That said, it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The breakfast menu is modest, but upon the recommendation of the waitress, I ordered the Chilaquiles, and it was excellent($ 13.00). The chips, made from some root vegetable that I never heard of, were light and crisp. The enormous portion is topped with tender brisket and some wonderfully flavorful homemade salsa. I am guessing it is a version of salsa verde(green sauce). Wow, it was good. It brings everything together in a delicious way. There is also an egg and some pickled jalapeños. Just a great dish all the way around. I would order it again in a heartbeat. The wife ordered the hash($ 6.50 a la cart) and a pancake on the side($ 3.50). She really loved the hash with its myriad ingredients. Our service was very good. She was knowledgeable and friendly. The restaurant is modern, clean, and upscale without pretension. Prices were not cheap but not exorbitant. I would say it was about normal what you would expect at an upscale place. We really liked this place and plan to return.

I woke up feeling like going to brunch, but not really wanting the typical brunch food of eggs, waffles, etc., so I knew it was finally time to try Origin Kitchen due to it’s varietal brunch menu. I made a reservation on OpenTable, and it was as easy as could be. When we got there, right on time, it took a while before we could be seated. The hostess wasn’t at the check-in desk, and when she did finally come, she had to answer a phone call first. It was sort of a bad first impression of the restaurant, but I didn’t hold it against them. Once seated, it took our waiter a really long time to come to our table and take our orders. I think that the service definitely needs some tweaking. No table should have to wait longer than 15 minutes to place drink orders. My fiancé’ and I both ordered Nonfat Lattes. At $ 4.50 a piece, I felt that they were overpriced for the little mug they came in. Even though they were good, I don’t feel that they were worth the price. For my entrée, I ordered the Diamond Head Sandwich with a side of Brussels Sprouts(the sandwich came with a side of my choice). The sandwich was a wonderful concept of salmon, arugula, basil pesto, and mayonnaise on a soft ciabatta bread. The salmon was a bit on the salty side, which almost ruined the meal; however, it still was good enough for me to have devoured the entire thing. The brussels sprouts were absolutely amazing. I highly recommend them. When we get the bill, I noticed that we were charged $ 1 extra for the brussels sprouts, which is fine, but I feel that the waiter should have mentioned that certain sides have an up charge. My fiancé’ ordered the Veggie Omelette with chicken added to it. He asked the waiter if he could have 2 egg whites with only 1 whole egg. The omelette tasted good, but I didn’t love the way the chicken was cooked. On the bill, we were charged $ 2 extra for the egg whites, which was another up charge our waiter failed to mention to us. Once again, no big deal, but it would be nice to know all of the extra charges beforehand. All in all, the restaurant has a healthy menu with many options to choose from, so I know I will be visiting again. The next time I come, I will be prepared for the slow service and pricey food. I’m guessing that salty wild salmon was still good enough to have won me over… for now.
