Quite disappointing! The pizza(California) was burnt on the underside and dry on top. The pasta was uncooked beyond belief. Over all bad bad bad!

Not fine dining, like you might think youre getting from a place in Snider Plaza. Slightly above average food cannot save this place. Servers are rude, they are playing weird indie rock instead of trying to create an Italian ambiance, and the manager in charge(of this supposedly fine dining establishment) looks like he walked in with his street clothes on. Again. The good is fine, but customer service was very sad.

This is a pretty great Italian restaurant, I ate here with some friends, and it wasn’t a perfect experience but was still a treat. There was a mix up or two with the order, but the manager took over our table to make sure things went smoothly from that point on. I regularly have terrible restaurant experiences so I probably appreciate this more than most. Great atmosphere, the food was all hot and flavorful, my eggplant parm was some of the best I have had, sliced thin then piled like lasagna, so it was tender and well seasoned. Coconut crème pie is a must.

We were hoping for special. What we got was good, solid food and dessert. Sadly we seemed to have gotten stuck with the only subpar waiter there. Other tables were getting great service. We were not. The manager however came by a few times and saved the day. We’d go back. If we got a better waiter it would probably be a four star restaurant.

I have been a Penne customer for a long time. I think it is one of the best Italian restaurants in Dallas. The service is usually outstanding! I love their cheese pizza because of their thin delicate crust. I respect how traditional Penne is, from the paintings all the way to the aprons. It’s kid friendly but also great for date night!

Mmmm. Another great place for brunch on the weekends :) I love when a kitchen has nothing to hide by positioning it where diners can literally watch the cooks work together and make awesomeness happen right in front of you. Not 1 but 2 thumbs up for their sweet potato/eggs hash. Their portions are large enough to split and everything is made to order. It doesn’t matter what you order, but do order a side of their crispy bacon. They have mimosas and bloody mary’s that are cheap and good. As a chef, I know how easy it is to screw up a hollindaise sauce. They have mastered this. The eggs benedict are delicious. I don’t have a single critique.

Great value for a neighborhood restaurant. The filet is as good as any in the city. Quick service and a great friendly manager.

Had lunch here on Memorial Day with my brother and a friend. We were seated quickly at a table. The restaurant was not busy as we were in a bit past traditional lunch time, but before dinner. What’s that? Linner? I asked if they had a gluten free menu as this was my first visit to Penne Pomodoro. They did, and it was fairly extensive. We ordered Focaccia bread for the table, I got ice tea to drink and ordered the Pizza California for myself. The bread came out within 5 minutes and our meals 10 minutes later. Everything was hot, fresh and filled with great Italian flavors. My pizza was too much for me to eat, so I asked for a to go box and was brought one right away. Our waiter was quick to give out refills and take away empty plates. Overall it was a nice lunch. I look forward to my next visit.

I had the most amazing creamy pesto pasta here, and I love how they serve complimentary pizza bread. Not exactly cheap, but it is a nice part of Dallas.

From the folks that brought you Taverna(Lombardi Family Concepts), here’s another notably awesome Italian joint. This time in Snider Plaza. I’ve only been here a few times so far(we moved in the neighborhood a little less than a month ago), but I’ve yet to have a meal here that wasn’t fantastic. The menu has different areas, and I’ve yet to pry myself from the«build your own pasta» section. I generally get the Tortellini with a sauce that sounds good. One sauce that’s extremely notable here is their pesto. Pesto is usually more of a chunkier sauce, but the pesto here is super creamy and smooth. And absurdly delicious.(I’m pretty sure they put crack in the pesto.) The salads here are very good(last time I was there, I had an arugula salad with some grilled shrimp on top which was delicious), but if you’re saving room, the complimentary bread sticks are awesome. Bread sticks here are served like a seasoned pizza crust with the traditional olive oil and balsamic that you’d expect. Try to save some of this back for when your pasta comes(if you ordered pasta) or order some extra sauce on the side because dipping the bread sticks in the sauce is amazing. I have yet to try brunch here, so I can’t comment on that. The servers here are awesome, and have always provided great service. The Italian food in Texas is generally fairly mediocre, but like it’s «brother» Taverna, Penne doesn’t disappoint.(In fact – I may like it better!) Penne Pomodoro is on the same level as other higher-quality Italian chains(like Maggiano’s and Carrabba’s). I’d argue that it’s worth a detour.

I loved everything about my time there. The staff is attentive and the atmosphere is comfortable. Regulars rave about how great the food is. The last time that I went was a few years ago and I’m definitely going to come through more often. I had the pleasure of consuming the chicken rissoto, from the gluten free menu & it was amazing! The flavors were well balanced. I went very late in the evening. There weren’t a lot of people and the food came out fast. Overall, the experience was great.

Went to Penne Pomodoro Snider Plaza on a Sunday evening for my adult daughter’s birthday. This was my second visit(other was a number of years ago) and my last. The restaurant was very busy with what looked like a lot of families with kids. If all you want is spaghetti and meat balls or a pizza, I guess this would be an option. But if you want a decent experience, pick someplace else. We were seated right away and the waitress took our drink order and brought us water. I ordered a glass of house sauvignon blanc and when it arrived you could tell by the color and the taste that the bottle had been sitting open and the wine had gone bad. Sent that back in exchange for a gin and tonic … which was good. That was the last we saw our waitress for about 15 minutes. I tried to stop a waiter walking by who had just taken an entrée order from the table next to us(who arrived after us) to ask to get our waitress but he rudely brushed me off with«in a second» … never to return. Our waitress finally arrived and we ordered a starter to share for the table … calamari. When it came it was a small plate that three of us shared. I frequently order calamari and this stuff was commercial out of a plastic bag and cooked until it has the consistency of rubber bands. Service through the rest of the evening was actually pretty decent, nothing to rave about but nothing to write home about either. The one interesting thing is that not one time during the evening did our waitress ask if everything was all right or if we enjoyed the food. One of our party was drinking diet coke and the waitress asked if she wanted a refill. But the bartender and the waitress must be color blind because the coke came more clear than it was caramel color. It appeared that the syrup tank had run out. But, neither the waitress nor the bartender seemed to be able to tell there was something wrong … or they didn’t care. Took the coke back but a replacement never arrived … I guess they didn’t have time to change the tank out. Two of us ordered eggplant parmesan and I am sure it was baked well before in the day(or maybe yesterday) in a large kitchen pan. It was on the plate like a scoop of casserole, gray in color and cooked until it was mush. While the flavors were not bad, it had no texture and if you didn’t know what it was you would not have called it eggplant. What else can I say? Penne Pomodoro in both food and service is mediocre at best and closer to poor in reality. $ 75 for three people before the tip? There are too many good Italian restaurants around for me to consider going back to Penne Pomodoro.

The Pomodoro on Snyder Plaza is located in a well maintained town walk area with small eateries pastry and fashion shops. Akind to a stroll on the plaza in old Texas. The eatery is set back to sll for sidewalk dinning and people watching when dining al fresco. Upon entering this beautiful early fall day for lunch with my fall interest Neil I noted the warm fall palette decore and instrumental music in the background. Setting for what I was looking forward to a great gastronomy of italian cuisine. Thr waiter was cordial and quick to accept our drink order then our lunch order. Quuck such to the attitude if a New York diner. This I accepted as a minor impression. The menu presented s full fair from antipasto to pizza pasta plates and classic italian fair. Neils order of Salomon arrived on a white plate with potatoes znd grilled vegetables. I stated thr three items without description of flair because they we just that. Fish potatoe vegies. Items which can be found in any road side truck stop. I kniwe presentation sets the expectation of the treat. There was no presentation the person who prepared this Salmon should be stricken the the hairnets of a prison kitchen. The fish was glazed over cooked and tossed on a plate with a scope of patatoes whoes box has an expiration date. The grilled veggie was clearly left overs from last night the were color less and tossed next to the fish. The waiter did not at to the presentation in counter he subtracted when dumped the plate on table like a blue plate special. The only saving grace maybe Snyder Plaza.

I was pleasantly surprised with Penne! The ability to customize your pasta dish may not make for the most traditional Italian meal, but it did allow me to personalize some fantastic gnocchi! Even the waitstaff exceeded expectations, and was above average for the price point, even though the interior is not. This will definitely go into the rotation for quick, affordable, dinners that are easy enough substitute for nights I dont feel like making dinner.

I guess we’ll never know if third time’s a charm since I was so unimpressed by my first two trips here. I came once for dinner and another time for brunch. Minestrone, House Salad, Pomodoro Penne Pasta, and the Penne Omelet. Yep, they all tasted as boring as they sound. Flavors were lacking and service was slow and impersonal. There are too many other good eats around the area to complete for my attention. See ya never, Penne Pomodoro.

Penne serves up some incredibly tasty Italian dishes and pizza. Working in Snider Plaza, I am a repeat customer 10x over for the off day when I need some high-carb comfort food. To begin, the pizza is fantastic. I think they have a brick oven, but if I’m wrong, they’ve perfected how to make a pie not cooked in one taste like it! Super crispy, flavorful crust really sets the tone for all of theirs pies. I’ve ordered a few pies with add-your-own ingredients and wasn’t extremely impressed(perhaps my combinations were too much and lacking synergy… I’m not a chef!), but all of the predesigned pizzas are finely created. While I enjoy all of them, I am prone to order the 4 cheese and tomato pretttty much every time. Mozzarella, Provolone, Fontina, Taleggio, roasted tomato and basil… Who needs anything else?! The ingredients taste really fresh and the serving size is plentiful for the starving, and perfect for the moderately hungry eater to enjoy their meal and bring some home for later. I’ve only delved shallowly into their assortment of pasta dishes, so I’ll just talk about the one I’ve ordered numerous times that stands out: Basil pesto with penne. I’m not a huge fan of large chunks of meat in pasta(perhaps I’m an amateur, forgive me…), so I just roll with the sauce and the pasta. ECCELLENTE! A great pesto sauce should be illegal for being so good… Penne Pom has got it down. The bread that comes with the meal serves as a wonderful sauce soaker-uper with the chewy inside and crispy crust. Who needs meat!!! Penne offers only 3 sandwiches, and of the 3, one stands out(at least in our office) as legendary: The Mama Mia. Chicken, bacon, caramelized onions, fontina cheese, sundried tomato and an aioli gets sandwiched between their toasty bread with a side. Full of fresh flavor, it is a unique italian themed delight for those looking for a sandwich. Recently, Penne redid their menu and I am impressed with the new gluten free options. Pasta and Pizza for the gluten freers, this is a huge service to people who can have gluten. Mega props to penne. A couple of times, I’ve encountered less than friendly wait staff, but people have off days so I’m not gonna dock ‘em. Most of the time, everyone is friendly and seems very concerned/proud about their high quality food. The restaurant space itself is very clean and refreshing, and the open kitchen is a nice touch. A great place to go on a date and feel classy, while not breaking the bank for quality food.

Snider Plaza is its own little world of restaurants, unique gift shops, spas, doctor’s offices, and more. If you aren’t a native, you might feel a touch out of place when you visit — it seems like everyone strolling around this plaza has been doing so every day. Anyway, there are a ton of places to stop in for a bite, and we decided on Penne Pomodoro. This restaurant is small, filled with sunshine from the windows, and has dark floors and a red ceiling. Specials and desserts are written on chalkboards on the wall, there’s a single table displaying bowls of parmesan, oil, and balsamic vinegar, and the menu has everything you’d expect an Italian restaurant to have(plus gluten free pizza and pasta options). The prices were cheaper than I thought they’d be, and the lunch menu is especially reasonable. We ordered the GF four-cheese pizza; it’s not the best crust I ever had, but the cheese was fantastic and the roasted tomato slices on top were so sweet! I asked for red onion and was pleasantly surprised by the liberal amount atop my pie. We also ordered GF pasta with pesto; the noodles were cooked perfectly and the pesto cream sauce was incredibly rich and silky. You really only need a few bites, but it’s hard to not eat the whole thing! Plus, there were pine nuts mixed in — gotta love pine nuts. Service was quick and attentive. I love how they refill your drinks(even soft drinks) with tiny glass decanters(as if you were drinking wine). Makes you feel special!

Based on food and atmosphere, I would completely give this place a «meh,» but their $ 1 mimosas, bloodies, and Bellinis push them up quite a bit. Plus, we had a server who knew how to pour our beverages full, err I mean right, and he treated us pretty well for how long we were there. Thanks to those factors, I did have a lovely, many hour brunch here for not too many dollars. We went for Saturday brunch, and you could tell the place had been run through by quite a few people. It looked a little out of order, a little unkempt. Our waiter also mysteriously changed into a different waiter without any notification or introduction of new waiter… that was kind of odd. Like we wouldn’t notice that our waiter’s ethnicity completely changed? Oh well. The food was okay to good. I had the savory waffle. It was a refreshing take on a waffle, as it had savory ingredients like jalapenos, bacon, and cheese. I did not see much bacon evidence, but there were plenty of jalapeño slices. These slices had a wonderful crunchy texture within the waffle that suggested they had been fried before adding to the batter. That part was pretty awesome. The hollandaise sauce was okay, but the eggs over easy on top were eggs over HARD, with all 3 of the yolks almost cooked solid. Now what am I to do with no runny yolk! :(This is not a good sign as eggs over easy is something even a Waffle House line cook can get right. In short, go for the $ 1 brunch drinks(offered on Saturday & Sunday until 3pm with entrée purchase), not necessarily for the food.
