The salsa and rice are too die for here! The chicken and beef enchiladas were simply delicious. I was disappointed in the charra beans. They lacked flavor. The prices are VERY reasonable and the server was friendly. If you like your Mexican food seasoned, this is the place!

So THIS is what Tex-Mex is supposed to be!!! Oh my goodness, the food here is delicious. Tried the chicken enchiladas with sour cream sauce and chipotle sauce; both were great. The chipotle sauce has a really unique, smoky flavor it it. Would definitely recommend. Even the chicken inside was seasoned very well. The albondigas soup was amazing too… i’d come just for that. Fresh tortilla chips and great salsa. Great, fast service too during lunch hour. Now I know where to take my out of town guests when they ask for tex-mex!

Pepe’s and Mito’s has been my go to spot for years, when I’ve got Mexican food on my mind. My go to start up: Albondiga Soup. My go to plate: Pollo al mojo de ajo. My Wife’s go to plate, which I always take healthy samples from: Tacos Norteños. The service is always excellent, which starts with a welcoming smile, get seated, have some chips and salsa(excellent), timely order taking/delivery, exit full of great food and with a smile.

Decent Tex Mex restaurant with exceptional service. Stiff drinks and free chips and salsa, need I say more?! Guy Feiro(?) hit this spot. I had the taco plate and it was just the right size and tasty all around. Ambience sucked though — not crappy enough to call it a hole and not decent enough to call it traditional.

Went here for lunch the other day, and was super impressed! I got the mole chicken enchiladas, which were really good, and my mother-in-law got the chipotle enchiladas which were phenomenal. My daughter also enjoyed her sour cream chicken enchilada, and she is very picky. The salsa was good, the only weak spot was the queso, which was bland for some reason. Definitely going to come back to this spot!

It wasn’t too crowded for lunch but it tasted just like any other Tex mex restaurant. Also there wasn’t anything special about their salsa.

Best Mexican Restaurant out there! Hard to find a place where every dish you try is outstanding. My father is a «homemade Mexican food only» man, this is the only Mexican restaurant he will go to and actually enjoy. Him and my mother like to order the Shrimp Fajitas. I enjoy the Botanas, the tamales are great, not too dry not too spicy, they are good especially with the Tomatillo salsa on top. I also love the Tacos Nortenos, the sauce they use is so yummy. My fiancé just LOVES with the Chipotle Enchiladas, he gets the same thing every time we go there! The Sopapillas are amazing! So light and poppy! Their Tres Leches cake is great as well! The owners are so hospitable and friendly, we are family friends. I swear they know everyone who walks in! I love this restaurant I highly recommend it!

We came here with some friends before a show at Fair Park. Service was quite slow but everybody was nice. Everybody on the table loved the meat flavor and we all got different dishes. Their chipotle sauce is amazing! My only«complain» were the margaritas… They were ok…

Great little hole-in-the-wall spot in Deep Ellum. Nothing crazy fancy; just good authentic Tex-Mex cuisine — just like we like it! The Botanas Platter is a must-have starter item on the appetizer menu, or a small person could eat it as a meal.(A good meal w a tasty variety.) Tip: power through the Margarita’s! They aren’t the tastiest I have ever had, but they are very strong. If you drink for effect; this is your drink!

Last evening was the kick off for Deep Ellum Arts Festival. We enjoy Pepe’s & Mito’s and went to dinner before going to the art festival. We traveled by Dart Train what a wonderful way to travel and beat the traffic and no hassles with parking. The service was great and the food came out hot. We always have had great food. When it is crowded you know you have come to the right spot.

MYFAVORITERESTAURANT… EVER! I come to Dallas(which is 4 hours away) just for this place. It is the best, most authentically delicious Mexican food you can find. Every time, I order the enchiladas covered in the chipotle wine sauce. One enchilada is enough to fill me up after eating all of their fresh chips and salsa… But yet I cannot stop myself from eating every last bite. Absolutely yummy! I have never had a sauce quite like it. My boyfriend always gets the tacos nortenos(as seen on TV). Once again, this meal is absolute perfection. I always sneak a bite of the tender meat that comes in it. The service is always fantastic as well. Each server I have had has left a lasting impression on me. They are all so kind, attentive, and accommodating. I once asked if I could have one of my enchiladas covered in the mole sauce(because I love mole), and our waiter was more than willing to oblige(the mole was delicious too by the way). And as mentioned, if you love chips and salsa, this is the place for you. The chips always come out warm and crisp, like each batch is made specifically for you. The salsa is perfect as well with a bit of cilantro and a flawless consistency. I could go on and on… Do yourself a favor and stop by this place!!! You will not be disappointed. I promise.

Today I discovered the Deep Ellum & what Tex Mex really is… Turns out fajitas and chimichanga burritos are not«real» Mexican! But I better understand Deadpool’s love/obsession with the Chimichanga! But let’s start at the start… chips and salsa. It starts any good Mexican meal and really sets the tone. The chips were fresh good but not the best… the salsa was tasty with no kick. I asked for spicy the waiter said it’d be extra! Really… whatever. I did pay $ 2 to get the Salsa Ranchero. It had pretty good heat. Mixing the two is the key. Now on the Chimi… they have 3 sauce options. The waiter suggested the cheese sauce because I ordered the beef Chimi… after he thought I said chicken… hmm… guess what I got… yup the chicken! I did not even realize until eating about ½! I changed it, and did prefer the beef… and was more than happy to try both. Even the miss order did not ruin my experience… it happens. And it was a good Chimi. Food was quick and good. It was $ 9 for the lunch special! I’m full and happy. What more do you want! …although they could have comped my Salsa! I

Really great hole in the wall restaurant! We went to see a comedy show(visiting from Houston) and it was sold out so we walked around and stumbled upon this restaurant. It was very empty but the food and drinks were AMAZING. My brother had a margarita and said it was the best he has ever had– he’s a tough critic too! I had a Virgin piña colada since I’m pregnant and it was delicious as well. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 was it took a while to get our check and we were in a hurry. With hardly anybody being there I thought the waiter would have been more prompt with the check but other than that everything was great!

Normally I give them a great review but today was an exception. It took over 30 minutes for us to even get our food then the taco was so soggy it was like it was reheated. They did give us a free order of sopapillas but they were cold. They did also apologized for the delay.

This is an awesome little place in Deep Ellum for some good tex mex! The chipotle enchiladas are amazing and everyone is always extremely friendly. My only complaint is that I went in day of, about 6 – 7 hours in advance asking if I could make a reservation for about 20 people for my birthday and the response I was given was«Well we already have a large party tonight so we most likely won’t be able to accommodate you.» No worries… took my large party elsewhere in Deep Ellum with no problem.

It’s hard to miss with the signage and energy in the area. When we first walked in my expectations were not high as it had a casual feel and lunch room feel. The service was fantastic, I wish I remembered our servers name from last night. With a group of 10 they were very attentive and quick to get drinks and food. I had the cheese quesadilla with avocado and it was delicious. It was perfect to share after eating too many chips with salsa. I highly recommend their margarita, on the rocks, no salt. We will be back again for a great fast, casual style meal.

it was ok, this tasted more like a chain restaurant. All the meat was pretty dry and overcooked. The food was bland at best, the only thing that was good were the tamalees and cheese encheldas. The service was good but who charges for hot salsa? The prices are pretty good but there are much better places to go for Mexican food.

This place has been a regular in my Mexican rotation since around 1996, when my roommate at the time and I stumbled across it on a lazy Sunday afternoon, back when they were in the tiny spot currently occupied by Mama Mia’s down the street. After all these years, it’s still in my top 3 Mexican restaurants in Dallas. I’ve never had a bad meal here, but my all-time favorites are the guiso, the fajitas, and the chile relleno. When in doubt, get something that has the homemade flour tortillas included. And if you don’t, be sure and order some — they’re melt-in-your-mouth amazing. I love their queso, it has a black-peppery taste that is unique but yummy. Their chips are the large half-tortilla size and they’re some of the best in town. I’ve seen a couple of complaints about the margaritas, but they’ve always been pretty good in my opinion, and more than strong enough. I guess it depends on the bartender. If you’re in the area for a show, or even if you’re not, you owe it to yourself to give Pepe’s & Mito’s a shot.

I come from East Texas(Tyler/Gladewater) where the Tex-Mex is plenty. When I moved to Dallas I made it my mission to find my go-to spot. Working with people that love to lunch really helped narrow my search. This was one of the first spots they took me to! I judge a Tex-Mex place on it’s hot sauce(or salsa, but it’s hot sauce to me.) I had been to two or three other Tex-Mex places in the area and just wasn’t feeling it. I could eat Pepe’s & Mito’s chips and hot sauce . I normally order something basic like quesadillas, but my favorite is their chicken taquitos. It comes with queso(orange) and your basic sour cream/guacamole combo. They’re delicious. Basically, if you’re looking for a good Tex-Mex place in Deep Ellum, give this one a shot.

Yummy! I was heading to the Weezer concert with a friend. We were on the Dart red line headed to downtown. My friend said hey let’s head to the Deep Ellem and eat at Pepe & Mitos. Did she ever have a great idea. We got on the green line and it let us out right behind this eatery. It is really a low key restaurant. The thing that makes this place great is the food. First off the chips and salsa are AMAZING! The chips were light and airy and the salsa had the perfect amount of heat. We both ordered margaritas on the rocks. They were too sweet and very week. So, maybe get a beer instead. I ordered the pollo al Chipotle. It was amazing. It consisted of a chicken breast charbroiled and topped with delicious spicy chipotle wine sauce. Served with mexican rice, charra beans, grilled veggies and salad. I think I could eat a bowl of chipotle sauce by itself. It’s that good! My friend had the ALBONDIGASOUP. It is an omelet like patties filled with a delicious mix of carrots, potatoes, onions, tomatoes, mild peppers and ground beef in a seasoned broth. She said it was just like her Abuela made. It was an amazing dinner before an awesome concert!

Having had Mexican food in Mexicali, San Diego, and Chicago. I am pretty familiar with Baja style cooking. The restaurant décor, looks fine, and the service is friendly and efficient. To start we ordered the chef’s Mexican meatball soup and my wife ordered the shrimp cocktail. I would say we both enjoyed the soup, however the shrimp, cocktail was to sweet, not enough lime and acidity. The shrimps themselves were fine, it is just that the sauce tasted like ketchup? The chips and salsa were good. The salsa had a smoky and slightly spicy flavor! For entrees we ordered the ribeye with a chipotle cheese enchilada served with rice and beans accompanied by fresh tortillas. This dish we both enjoyed. However we did not care for the taco pastor. The tortillas were good, and it was loaded with pineapple, but we did not like the sweet sauce served on the pastor meat, and it was not chargrilled. This sweet sauce reminded us of the shrimp cocktail sauce.

Pepe and Mito’s is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Dallas and I make sure to take anyone who visits me from out of town there. While it is a whole in the wall, the food is great and the staff is friendly. I love the Chipotle Enchiladas. Their Chipotle Wine Sauce is absolutely amazing. I haven’t found any other sauce like it in Dallas and it comes on several of their dishes, so if you don’t like enchiladas, you can try it on something else. Their Tacos Nortenos are also very tasty. If you like chunky salsa, this is your place! The only downfall is parking. Plan to pay $ 5 in the lot next to the restaurant or have change for street parking.

The chips and salsa were GREAT! I like my salsa cold and a little sweet and I ate a bunch before the food arrived. This however is where my potentially impressive dining experience ended. Not trying to be mean, but this is one of those places I’d want to go after a night of drinking. The food wasn’t horrible by any means, but it just tasted basic. I ordered the sampler app plate. The meat was dry and over cooked. The cheese dip was SO hot temperature wise and didn’t compliment anything on the plate. Finally, the house margarita I ordered was a let down. It just tasted like watered down margarita mix :( The staff was very nice and attentive, and I’m sure if I asked to return my drink or anything they would have worked with me. But, it’s about first impressions for me… I’ll probably come back some day, maybe.

What a great authentic Mexican place in Deep Ellum. The chips and salsa are addicting. We most have had 3 bowls. Ask for some pico as its just as good. The menu is well priced and you can’t go wrong w/the pastor or enchilada’s. The chicken and pork were well seasoned. Good selection of Mexican beers and I the margaritas are apparently decent. The service was pretty good accept for reminding them on additional marinated to dip the corn tortillas in. Overall, great find and some of the best Mexican I’ve come across in Dallas.

My only disappointment is how long it took me to find this place! I can’t believe I had to live without this rare gem for so long! We had take out one day and the other day, we ended up visiting Pepe’s and Mito’s for a quick week day lunch. Our server was super sweet and did a great job taking care of us. The food not quite what I was expecting(in a good way!). I ordered the chicken enchilada mole. Definitely the best mole sauce I have ever had! It’s not overly saccharine like a lot of the sauces I’ve tried from stores. It’s a milder much better balanced one that really highlights the flavours of dish. I just wish it were a hair spicier but other than that this was an amazing dish! Great quick happy lunch! On our takeout order for work, we had the chicken fajitas. While the shredded chicken, vegetables, poco de gallo, beans and rice were all wonderful, their tortillas deserve a special shout out! They are simply divine!!! I heard a rumour they pay the tortilla maker a fortune. Okay well maybe not a full on fortune, but the tortillas alone are worth five stars. Definitely try these while you are here :)

My boss and I had lunch here today and we both really liked our meals. But, first, it’s important to talk about the hot sauce. It was so delicious that we had to have our individual bowls refilled twice each. The waiter said they make it fresh every morning and serve it «until it runs out.» I had the chipolte shrimp with extra veggies instead of charra beans. Both the shrimp and the veggies were seasoned perfectly. My boss had a chicken dish that he loved so much that he kept insisting I try it, even though he has known me for 15 years and knows I have a weird thing about sharing food. The wait staff was awesome. They never ket our chips, hot sauce, or drinks get empty. And it was all reasonably priced, too.

This is the genuine Dallas Tex-Mex experience! Do not hesitate to come here. My wife and I have been here several times and every time get the 5 star level of service and food quality. We are not drinkers(I know, lame right?) so we cannot really speak to that end of what the offer. But we are good lovers and I can tell you that after trying many of the items on the menu you simply cannot go wrong. Here are some of my top picks at Pepe & Mitos. 1. The Sizzling Beef Fajitas 2. The Chimichanga 3. Tacos Al Carbon 4. Charro Beans We never have a problem getting parking here, but then again we come in off-peak hours. The chips and salsa are out of the park. I could get full off of those alone! Owner operated businesses are the backbone of neighborhoods like Deep Ellum, so supporting one like this is a lot easier when they have a cool atmosphere, excellent service and amazing food. I absolutely love this restaurant and would recommend it to anyone. 5⁄5

Favorite Mexican restaurant in Dallas! The waiters are always friendly and quick. Their nachos and salsa is amazing. And their food is even more amazing. My friends love the Tacos nortenos but I personally love the Chicken flautas. Super moist chicken and super crispy. Their refried beans and rice is always spot on. Restaurant ambiance is like as if you were in a restaurant in Mexico. Not the greatest interior or exterior but a fitting look for some great Mexican food. I crave this place but very unfortunate that I don’t go to Dallas downtown enough. But if you want to eat great Tex-mex/Mexican food, this place is a must try. All my friends from outside of Texas all loved it. So if you have guests who are visiting, take them here.

Just an average Tex-Mex joint with super friendly staff. I like their street side covered patio. On a nice day it’s relaxing to sit and people/traffic watch. Food here is ok. I’ve definitely had better. I’m not a fan of their salsa. Very boring tomato flavor, and, it lacks of spice. Salsa is one of the more important dishes in a Mexican or Tex-Mex joint. I expect a salsa to present lots of bold flavor and have some body to it. Peppers, garlic, onion; let’s do this. The tacos and tamales were just ok. I do like that they don’t use potatoes as fillers in their meats. As for the tacos I wish they’d take more care in dressing them. Mine came with mostly lettuce. More tomatoes and onion would have been nice. The shells were nice, fresh, and, crisp. They held up under the grease also. That’s a win win for sure. Having a taco shell fall to pieces is the same as having a hamburger bun come undone.
