I had a killer seafood pasta dish! It was a special that night and delicious. The salad and bread that came with it was fantastic, as well. Had some great service and split a bottle of good cab with someone. The atmosphere isn’t anything to rave about, it’s just your traditional Italian restaurant décor. Overall, great service, tasty food, and decently priced wine. I would recommend!

Pretty mediocre Italian food. But the restaurant is cozy, particularly on a wintery day. And the service was very good.

If I based my review on the lasagna I ate it would get a 5 stars and if I rated it on the server being pleasant they’d win there too but the restaurant, with all this, is not what it should be. The atmosphere is FAR too casual. The hostess was wearing an AC/DC hoodie(at an Italian restaurant? Really?) and the servers were more interested in the conversation at the bar than in serving. When the food was delivered the service was good and the food was excellent. Had the food been average they would get a 3 but it really won some points.

Favorite place to go in Downtown Dallas. Wonderful service and the food is so good. I always get the chicken Marsala. They have a pretty good wine selection and the wait staff and bartenders have always been more than friendly. Their bread is excellent too!

I ate here on a Tuesday in November 2015 with three others and was pleasantly surprised, due to the lack of curb appeal and from some of the other reviews. We had the calamari to start, which we devoured as it tasted fresh — not frozen. It was perfectly and lightly fried, crunchy and moist, some of the best I’ve had in years. We also had ample servings of their toasted garlic bread, which we likely ate too much of. Sarah(with an H) was our server and she was more than attentive and overall pretty fantastic. We went through about twenty drink refills and she was still on top of it. With her recommendation I had a specialty for my entrée, I have no idea what it was called but it was a chicken breast, topped with spinach, prosciutto, cheese and served in a cream sauce with linguine. It was absolutely delicious — ask about it, seriously. I believe it was the Pollo O Vitello Di Campagna(Casa)? The others I was with had the rigatoni bolognese, fettuccine alfredo and personal margherita pizza. They all enjoyed their dishes, but I don’t think any were as good as the special I had. I’d recommend ordering away from the traditional fare and asking the staff their recommendations. The personal pizza is 12″ in size, and probably the best value on the menu. The entrees also come with an ample house or caesar salad. I’m not really sure why half of the reviews are great and half are bad for this place, but as a walkup customer I couldn’t be happier. Looking at the other reviews and most of the bad ones seem to be for classics like«spaghetti and meatballs» or «fettuccine alfredo.» After years of travel and relying on Unilocal reviews, I tend to avoid«classic» meal reviews. I equate a review about spaghetti to ones about california rolls at a sushi joint. Either way, we had a great experience at Porta Di Roma. The bar also seems to be frequented daily by a large number of regulars, which is usually a good sign of service and quality.

I came in for a cappuccino on a rainy day. The atmosphere was delightful and the cappuccino was good, but I was not impressed by the appetizers or how overpriced they were. I’ll go back to give the entrees a chance, though. It was overall a charming place.

Walkable and easy to get to. Menu had lots of choices. Pasta dish was good but nothing out of the ordinary but had good flavor. Salad that came with the entrée was just okay but the bread was really good.

Do not ever think of going there!!! Food is terrible. they do serve jerky chicken.seriously.and they don’t care about your opinion. I think they never tasted Italian food before. how can you mess up spaghetti !!! I prefer to give it zero star. the chef walked by us without even asking why we didn’t like the food and they did charge us extra!!!

Alas. One star is the lowest permitted. Do not… do not waste your money here. Scimpy salads, slowest service, flavorless, cold food. Need more? Go ahead then.

Surprisingly decent joint for Italian food in the downtown Dallas area. While in town this week on biz I just wanted somewhere close to the hotel for a quick dinner before heading back to my room to pack and do some work. Sat at the bar to watch the ballgame and had a nice meal with great service. Enjoyed a tasty salmon dinner special tonight. Hearty plate with a large piece of lightly breaded baked salmon on top of a bed of angel hair pasta and mixed veggies. Came with a pretty large fresh salad too. For $ 19 it was worth it. Free refills on iced teas. Not a bad spot if looking for something other than a steak or meat centric place that the town is known for. Also, along the street next to this is a Phở place, and Bahn Mi spot, and a Vietnamese restaurant. I don’t understand all the recent one star reviews of this place. I had the opposite experience of what these reviewers described. Take those reviews from«no profile gray heads» with a grain of salt and decide for yourself.

Came in and was seated. Place not busy at all. No one came to table or said hello for ten minutes despite passing by me several times. Ended up leaving and going to another café down the street.

Great spaghetti and meatballs. Best meatballs I’ve had in years. Only complaint was the setting. The window area was full so my party of three was seated in a narrow dark long room behind the main area. It looked like we were in a dark hallway. They should spruce up that area with some imaginative lighting and candles.

Good service and casual friendly environment. Chicken parmigiano was very tasty. The tomato sauce was good also. The texture of the pasta was a bit over cooked for my preference.

Horrrrrrrrrrible. I literally can’t even tell you awful this experience was. Our waitress was awful, food tasted like it was straight out of a Chef Boyardee can, and I am completely appalled at how unprofessional the staff was. There was a dispute at another table and when the patron left, the manager as well as all the employees were making fun of the man that had left. It was unreal. Extremely unprofessional. I would never recommend this place.

Any time I’ve visited this establishment, I’ve been pressed to write a review. This place is a time machine. When I enter I feel like Lucky Luciano, or a Pacino character is near. I also can smell the deliciousness being created for my taste buds. Their are always one or two dishes I’ll enjoy. One of which is the Pepperoni or the Italian sausage calzone. I enjoy both. While they aren’t the best I’ve ever had, they are a great convenient spot in downtown Dallas for midday food. The pastas and the lasagna is delightful. Just yesterday I had the Penne Romano with Bbq Italian sausage. The flavor to spice ratio was appeasing while as new dish it exceeded my expectations. Add in their freshly baked rolls and you’re expecting a nap shortly after. I haven’t had the pleasure of having drinks there, but it’s football season now so definitely stay tuned. I’ve never experienced bad service their and they remember what I like and cater to me.

Great service! Owner always remembers me. Staff adjusts service accordingly: if I’m alone or with a group. Food is consistent and delicious. Bad reviews I read are also consistent. Maybe don’t act like a jerk?

Love this place! I had been running and it was late but they welcomed me in with open arms. Which I really appreciated since I was not dressed for any nice occasion. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The bartender recommended my fish which was a #2 substituted with Gnocchi. Oh my gosh it was amazing! The people sitting next to me even ordered it because it looked and smelt so good! I would HIGHLYRECOMMEND this place!

Absolutely brilliant service. Meals came out fast, staff very friendly. I ordered the pomadorro spaghetti and it was soooo good. My friend ordered the chicken lasagne and he thought it was only average. So for food, 4 stars Service a definite 5 stars.

Not good at all. Ordered the cheese sticks cold and clearly were frozen and reheated like you would get in the frozen section of your grocery. The calzone was mostly dough and was so soggy. It was mostly ricotta cheese, virtually no meat toppings. The pasta was just not good, I could not recommend this place in any way.

Our waitress was great. She quickly made olive oil dipping sauce with fresh herbs & chunks of garlic for the hot, just out of oven bread. My tortellini ala vodka was good. I thought I was ordering penne but mis-read The menu. My husband had sausage stuffed calzone which he enjoyed. I’m glad I didn’t let negative reviews deter us. However, we did steer clear is lasagna.
