Spec’s Wine Spirits & Finer Food

Why has it taken me sooooo long to visit Spec’s??? This is not your typical liquor store, it’s is a shopping experience!
I felt like a kid in the candy store when I walked in, there is so many goodies. The prices are tough to beat, seriously. This would be the place to prep for a party or load up your bat cabinet. They also sell munchies to go with your chosen spirits.
The service is great and the store is so well organized. It’s just amazing! I will be back to peruse again.

Massive selection, ample parking, staff that knows what they’re talking about means this is usually a stop for a couple bottles to bring back to the UK. Buying American whiskey is obviously a lot cheaper domestically than it is in London, and Spec’s has a great selection of bourbon and rye for us to take back. Discount for cash or debit cards is nice as well.

Excellent variety of wines, beers, everything for all tastes. Also, their deli section is amazingly tasty. From Caviar, to pig wings, greek salads, burgers, Muffaletta, egg rolls. Great for lunch with seating area. This particular location is quite pleasant and a one-​stop-​shop for organizing a party, Lower prices when you use cash, debit or checks.

We had some very specific needs to fill while spending a week in Dallas. Oklahoma has very restrictive alcohol laws, and we had a list.
Different employees recognized how overwhelmed we were and took us under their wing to help us find what we wanted and make recommendations.
They have a tremendous selection of gins, and we were able to find some japanese whiskeys that we hadn’t seen before.
Then ‘rick’ found us and somehow my cart because full of wine. Seemed like a horrible idea at the time, but now back in Tulsa it is great to have a zin that we haven’t seen before.
The store is actually above a parking garage. From our entry, you go through the parking garage, and then turn right and keep going, even when your wife is saying you are lost, and then it will appear. Big, bright, clean and full of deliciousness.
I recommend it and will definitely return.

I’ve had some really great experiences here at Spec’s! The best part about shopping here is that they have something for everyone and every drinker! I stopped in recently and was able to pickup everything I needed for Moscow mules… and then some… for under $ 40 bucks. They have a wonderful assortment of foods at the Deli, but I have had one negative experience at the deli with food not being fresh and almost all sold out.
In the past, I’ve enjoyed their freshly made dips and cut cheeses. They also have a wide variety of food that pairs well with any wine. Their staff is kind and accommodating, and the discount is always worth it when you pay with cash or debit card.
One tip: be very careful coming in to the parking way and lot. It can be tricky and easy to miss both the driveway – and those coming in and out of it.

I don’t drink often nor do I frequent liquor stores but when im on this side of town, Specs is my go-​to. The staff is friendly and always able to lend a helping hand if needed. They have a great selection of wines and my choice of liquor is always in stock for a great price.

Huge store, ample parking, helpful staff, very large selection and they even sell some groceries!
Pro tip: Pay cash or Debit to get 5% off of your purchase.

A wonderland for alcohol and beyond. You can completely stock your bar and plan your party with one trip to Spec’s. Besides the largest selection of alcohol I’ve ever seen, they also have a full deli (grab lunch if all that shopping wears you out!), gourmet groceries and bar ware. There’s even obscure/​restaurant needs like a giant strainer. While they didn’t have every obscure brand I was looking for, they do have extremely knowledgeable staff – which is probably one of the best things about Spec’s. If you have any confusion or questions at all, ask! Also join the key club for amazing discounts and to earn points.

I came in for a very simple brandy and all of the staff was very friendly and very helpful.
They had a much smaller cheaper option for me and made it very easy to shop with them

I firmly believe there is nothing terrible you can say about a warehouse of alcohol unless you’re a teetotaler. If you want it, Spec’s probably has it. If they don’t, there are hundreds of other options that would be more than suitable to meet your boozin’ needs.
Most of the time I don’t make it past the bourbon section because that’s mostly all I drink, but wandering around and absorbing the assortment is enjoyable. Especially when you come across the fun stuff like tequila in a bottle shaped like a full-​size rifle. The prices seem dollars cheaper for some items compared to other large chains and you also have the added benefit of a Spec’s «club card» type of setup where you get discounts simply for buying stuff.
I get the sense that the employees working the floor have a pretty good frame of reference for adult beverages and often I’ve encountered employees and patrons engaged in lengthy conversation about their boners for certain sprits. I never really have a question beyond «are you really out of Bulleit?», but I’m sure if I did, they could school me pretty well.
I’ve never tried the deli goods, so I can’t vouch for that area, but I hear good things from other people. The do carry a really good assortment of bar gear and entertaining supplies so it really is a one stop shop for all of your party needs. They do have sample people set up handing out samples of various libations, so if you can’t afford a bar tab, you could probably get a little buzz of if you just make a sweep through the sample aisle.

Wow. This place is phenomenal! I live in Memphis, and if they ever expand to Memphis, they will own Memphis. Same thing for my hometown of New Orleans (sorry Martin’s Wine Cellar). Incredible selection and pricing. They really do «have it all.» Will be back! Highly recommended.

There are only 2 stores that I will buy alcohol from in the DFW, and this is one of them. When I first moved to Dallas, I was a little disappointed that there were not any Specs in town. I grew up in Houston and went to college in Austin, and Specs was always the place to go to stock up your liquor cabinet.
Spec’s is so much more than just a liquor store too. They have a deli, cigar room, chips/​dip, and cooking oils. A nice perk of the store is if you pay in cash or debit card, you get additional savings. If you pay with a credit card, you will pay slightly more (which is still less than most stores around), but rather than pocketing the difference when someone pays with cash/​debit, those savings are passed directly onto the consumer. Combine this with excellent customer services, you have get a great liquor store!

Winos, Boozers, and Lushes rejoice! Need a wide selection of reds, whites, bubblies, or rosé? Looking for vodka, scotch, Irish whiskey, bourbon, rum, gin, tequila, or brandy? Beer, cider, ale, lager, or even wine coolers? My new friends at Spec’s are the people to see!
When looking for a variety of colored maraschino cherries, I was directed to the large Spec’s location in Dallas. The location was previously a Toys R Us and Spec’s had zero issues filling up the large space with party snacks, wine, booze, and all of the necessary accoutrements. Walking in, I felt like a giddy child entering the Willy Wonka Chocolate Factory. Did someone say chocolate?! Yes, they have that too!
I left Spec’s inspired to convert the spare bedroom into a full service bar. Spec’s can help with that too!

This place is amazing. If you are planning a party, it can be your only stop. Not only do they have wine and spirits, they also have cigars, soda, a small gourmet grocery section, a deli, and even milk!
The prices are very reasonable, it is easy to get in and out, and there is more than enough parking. Also, a lot of the grocery items are local to Texas.

Specs is the leader in warehouse style liquor sale by not only havering a large selection of everything but everything you need to go with that. From cups, food, complete setups and a wonderful humidor! You can always find some thing new locally or from all over the world. Endless combinations of wine, liquor, food and party favors! Awesomeness!

So I have heard for years how wonderful Spec’s is, and I was not disappointed in the least. On the contrary, I was very impressed. First, sign up for their complimentary rewards savings card. Second, bring your cash and receive an additional 5% savings or white labeled products. Thirdly, bring your sense of curiosity and adventure. On Saturday’s, Spec’s offers free wine sampling from various regions and vintners from 11−2pm, 2−5pm, 5−8pm. Call to find out what specific companies are being poured and enjoyed.
Today I saw at least two Bourbon kioks for tasting, mainly seasonal or off market specialty selections, like maple or cinnamon… seems there is something for everyone darlings.
With a in store deli, merchandise, friendly staff, and selections out the wazoo, what is not to love here people. Get your Spec’s on. I say this with much foodie heart.

It is large. They do have a large selection of alcohol, and yes, they do carry food.
I found the prices on liquor to be pretty good, definitely better than a grocery store, but that doesn’t surprise me. The food selection is interesting. They do have a weird variety of international foods, but I go grocery shopping elsewhere. Their deli was also not all that impressive to me… I guess it is impressive that they have one at all? Not sure why everyone is ga-​ga over it.
Finding help was an atrocious disaster, which is a big no-​no in a liquor store, especially one with this selection. I guess it’s hard to find good help these days.
Also…no sour mix? Really? NONE at all? I asked TWO different employees, and they both confirmed they do not have sour mix. I looked down every aisle and nope… no sour mix.
Yeah…I’ll stick with my Goody Goody on Oak Lawn, thanks. Excellent service, a smaller and more easily navigated store, with great prices to boot.

So I’m going with 5 stars here. Not a fancy place to be sure, but SELECTION is pretty fab. I’ve come to the point of buying pretty much all of my wine now at Specs. There are several wine geeks always on the floor, but by far one of the best wine merchants I’ve come across just about anywhere is here. James is his name. Deep knowledge and quick recall for just about any wine we’ve discussed. I trust him to make educated and good recommendations for me whenever I shop there.
Random… you can also get a shoe shine apparently there. Odd…
And the pricing is very competitive.

Always a thrill to visit Spec’s and partake in their awesomeness — very busy store with very helpful (and knowledgeable) staff that go out of their way to ask if you need help, or escort you to where you need to go — seems trivial, but it goes a long way. Mitch in particular was a fantastic help on my most recent visit.
Great prices, amazing selection — you can get everything you need.

We stopped in to pick up a few things to take to a Dallas Marathon post-​race party and this place is HUGE. They have almost every kind of liquor, beer, and wine that you could possibly want all right under one roof. There’s a neat selection of food items, seasonings and sauces, chips and salsa, ethnic food, and more. There are also chillers filled with delicious cheeses, a freezer section, as well as a deli (which I hope to try soon). We had a great time looking around and checking out everything in the store, though this place is SLAMMED (as expected) on a Saturday evening and it was difficult to get up and down the aisles. Next time I think we’ll come in at an off-​peak time so we have more of a chance to browse.
Random side note — Be careful in the parking lot. In the short walk into and out of the store, we saw several near-​misses from people not following the big painted arrows on the concrete (in addition to the big «no left turn» sign) and driving the wrong way.
