Pathetic food. What they sell is Microwaved food. I ordered the food and what they delivered is the heated frozen food. Naan was a piece of crap heated frozen naan that we normally get from Indian grocery food. Very disappointed. Not recommended.

Complex but subtle flavors, simply delicious. I have been on the hunt in Dallas for a great Indian restaurant and finally found one. You guys are rock stars, thank you.

I just casually walked into this place and left feeling so fulfilled! The food is AMAZING! I can’t get enough of all the flavors they have infused into each dish. Clearly they know what they are doing! I would highly recommend this place, especially if you want something that tastes delicious and is healthy! I got to meet the owner and he was so great too! You can tell they really care about their customers. You won’t go wrong with spice in the city. Can’t wait to eat there again :)

Okay. So, I’ve been a rabid customer of SitC since I «discovered» them late April of 2015. I’ve been once a week for the most part ever since. I might have a food addiction. It didn’t hurt that they’re a quick walk from my office nor that they have more to offer than the myriad sea of sandwich shops that have plagued downtown Dallas. I mean, if I’m going to get out of the office, I’m going to make it count for more than just a sandwich. The food and service have always been consistently good. Surprisingly light but filling and flavored with exotic spices that take me away to an adventure, even if it is just for my lunch time. The chole is akin to a vegetarian chili and one of my standing favorites. The garlic naan is a must for every visit — vampires beware. The cucumber raita is delightfully refreshing with crisp fresh ginger and an occasional jalapeño slice. The pulao is their spiced rice mixed with cashews and plump golden raisins. For my friends new to Indian food, I always recommend the tikka masala. You can always add extra spice to it but is a nice introduction. The Thali special is an upgrade but you can choose a traditional entrée, 2 sides AND a drink. It’s a splurge for me but sometimes, I just have to have it. Today, however, I was in for a surprise. I took a good friend in, delighted to share this little gem. AND, behold! They’ve doubled their menu! What, WHAT?!! I ordered the Halal lamb & pea Kheema for the first time, upgraded to the Thali and got a side of garlic naan, Saag paneer, Raita, pulao and extra spice, of course. My friend ordered their new Spiced Steak Halal Kati roll which was a delicious looking flatbread stuffed with chunks of tender steak, onions & spices. I tried a bite, and that is by far a worthy sandwich. The roll came with a side of raita too. Much yum. But my lamb dish. I scooped the minced lamb & peas up into the naan like a taco. I ate every bite. They’re also recently open for breakfast. Traditional breakfast tacos and I’m eyeing the lamb taco… it’s never too early for lamb. So, I dare you. Go ahead. Take the plunge, try something new and you’ll never be bored with your food options here.

So parking here sucks. One of my friends wanted to grab some Indian after work and then we realized 4.9 miles is actually a pain in the butt when it’s all downtown Dallas on a Friday night. Paid $ 7 for parking because we didn’t know better and finally found this place. Think of it as organic Indian. Grass-fed beef, organic tea et al. Pretty good choice on sides(regular rice or with raisins, paneer, etc). My tikka masala was the best I’ve had. Really, truly. The portions aren’t big(they are small and in a plastic to-go container), but that probably has more to do with the fact that the guy running the place is a registered dietician(I used to see him at work– I didn’t know he owned this restaurant until after we ordered). The special that night included a glass of wine, two sides, and an additional drink. I think it was $ 14 something. The inside/ambience was nice. It looks like a nightclub. That is, until you see tenants going up the elevator with their dogs. Ah. Ground floor of an apartment building. The owner offers meal planning and such, so check it out his other services!

Do yourself a favor and try this place! I could literally eat here every day. Food is exceptionally prepared fresh upon ordering, and is made with only the best ingredients. My favorites are the chicken tikka masala, wings, and dumplings. Navin(the owner and chef) is the most genuine dude with a true passion for quality food and service.

I ordered delivery from spice in the city for the first time today. It certainly helps that I live in the building above the restaurant but when the food arrived at my door within 15, I was amazed! A bunch of reviewers complained about the portion sizes. But the way I see it, you get what you pay for and what you’re paying for here, it isn’t quantity, it’s quality. Besides, American portions are entirely too large. The Tikka Marsala was really great with chunks of chicken and a flavorful sauce. The mini potato samosas were phenomenal, I got the mango chutney with it and was mind blown. The saag paneer was a small portion but beyond worth it! The garlic ginger turkey dumplings were so good! And the fact that they’re made in house is rare in today’s convenient restaurant world. I’ll definitely be ordering from here again.

This place is great considering they are friendly, clean establishment and driven to serve healthy portions without losing flavor and a sensible meal. Sure you can think, I could go to a buffet for this price, but that’s the point — you don’t have to and you get quality instead of quantity. Order online and you can pick it up or they even deliver. The lobby it’s placed in is very unassuming to be an indian restaurant but they have a nice quaint setup. Their menu is concise, which I like so you don’t stare at a huge menu — they have a couple staples and a couple fusion ideas so you have variety. This will be a definite spot when I need a good warm meal. So glad this is right around the corner from work.

Love the name of this place. My roommate and I ordered here last Friday evening and we really enjoyed it. Pros: Price is awesome and food has good flavor. Food arrived within 20 minutes and the delivery guy was awesome. Spicy tikki masala! Ordering system is great and easy to use. Cons: Not too many menu options. Not very much naan for the side order we got. Overall, it was a good experience. I’ve read that it’s BYOB so I’ve been thinking about going there on a date night with my boyfriend to see what the in house experience is like.

Outstanding treat in downtown Dallas for a vegetarian. Not only are there plentiful meat alternatives(meat is on the menu too!), but the food is healthier than a traditional Indian restaurant. It is a take-out stop, so for that and hidden entrée-way I am not giving this the ultimate of five stars. But the food, service and fast turn around made my evening exceptional.

This food is absolutely AWESOME! Navin is very nice and funny. I did not think I would like Indian food because I am picky, now I am ordering multiple meals weekly. Give the spot a try. I promise you will go back! –Sharcon

Wow, we really wanted to order one of everything on this menu. There was so much flavor in the chicken wings, yogurt salad and Chicken Tikka — we spent the rest of our night putting our brains back together, as our minds were totally blown. It’s a very small dine in area, but we were excited to hear that there are talks of having a full restaurant in the future. I’ll gladly volunteer to wash their dishes, if they ever need that. ;) Super good… will definitely go back.

Savory and HEALTHY Indian food does exist! Highly recommend their fusion items or any dish with their organic meats! Great customer service & they deliver(locally). They do have a small dining area that is BYOB, but the TO-GO-style window makes it easy for quick meal pick-ups on the way home from work or for a quick grab-and-go lunch. Try something new each time — you’ll love it ALL!

I LOVE Spice in the City. It’s a heathier version of Indian food. I love the fact that they are careful with the spices as I cannot handle spicy food as well. However, if you want spicer, you just have to let them know. What’s great is I work downtown and they do free delivery if you spend a min. $ 15. You can order and get it here pretty quickly, which is great. I love the grass fed beef entrée but the originaly tikka misala with chicken or paneer is delicious too! Customer service is impeccable. They are very helpful if you have any questions about the menu if you visit them. Just keep in mind it’s not really a sit down restaurant. They do have some tables and chairs but this is more of an express delivery, which makes it great for downtown. I will definitely ordering from them again!

The first thing to mention to all of you fluffy patrons is that the food here is correctly portioned. The chef is a dietitian and does not want to further bloat your body with tasty Indian food because you like to feed your fat on Naan like me. I had to mention that to Pat Baby because like the majority of people here, they’re expecting a plate that serves three people as a regular meal. No guys, no. You will not have any leftovers coming here. When the food was delivered, Pat Baby held a bag that was much smaller than Chinese takeout. The food containers were literally about the size of frozen dinner trays(NOT Hungry-Man) and my side of Saag Paneer was about 3oz. However, the spices did not fail to fill my room with smells that make you want to slow clap for the brilliance that is Indian Cuisine. I finally was able to shove Pat Baby onto the Tikka Masala ship of dreams, and was surprised to have even been offered a taste from his order. Creamy, spice just strong enough to give your sinuses a firm backhand, organic… not that I could tell, but it was the Tikka Masala that made you savor every bite(okay, mainly because you only had a cup of it). Still, it came with a nice tub of raita, a cool yogurt that was perfect to cut the spice from your last bite. If you love Indian food, I honestly feel like you can’t go wrong with any dish here. I had the Organic Chole, a nice heap of garbanzo beans in spiced tomato sauce, and I enjoyed it even more than the Tikka Masala. I didn’t like anything nearly as much as the mini samosas though. They were insanely tiny, like around an inch and a half, but perfectly bite sized. I could have ordered 10 of those and popped them in my mouth like they were potato chips. Dip them in mango chutney… somebody better stop me now! Well, that was long. Just remember, the real takeaways are: delivery, correct portions(aka small as hell), meal plans available, and freakin’ Indian food in Downtown Dallas!!! Also worth mentioning: they carry chocolates from Cacao & Cardamom, the amazing chocolatier from Houston.

This Indian inspired health forward window counter kitchen sits unnoticeable inside the back nook of a dark wood paneled narrow lobby in a nice downtown high rise. A small menu offers a few Indian basics claiming less fat, organic products with smaller portions for around $ 10, like saag paneer, tikki masala, even a beef dish and a turkey burger. The entrees come with a decent yogurt cucumber salad and a side of rice, which you can upgrade to a spicy nut version. Cute tiny cupcakes and house made chocolates cherry top the nourishing experience. This healthy lunch with some flair also distinguishes itself downtown with a comfortable non fast food feeling dining space. Entrees start at $ 10, they serve dinner, combo meals start at $ 14. The samosas are pizza bit shape with a phylo wrapper — not my favorite, but kids might like them. Sensible no frills lunch downtown with a bit of pizazz might be more nutritious than wowing but you can always get a cupcake.

I have been lamenting the lack of Indian delivery joints near downtown/deep ellum for the past four years. Finally, Spice in the City Dallas has come to save us all!!! They are located downtown, which typically means I have little motivation to dine there due to annoying parking and the zillions of hobos that accost me for any variety of reasons. But thankfully for all of us who don’t live downtown, they DELIVER! Yaaaaaay!!! I always prefer to stuff my face with indian food in the privacy of my own home anyway, so this is ideal. You have the option of calling in your order or submitting it online. If you are sly, you can even find a link that garners you free delivery. TIGHT! The menu isn’t huge, but neither is the place so I’m okay with that. I would basically take anything though, since I’ve been Indian food delivery starved for over 5 years now. I ordered the organic(not that there’s a non-organic option) chicken tikka masala, which comes with rice and raita, a side of saag paneer and an order of the turkey dumplings. The dumplings are TINY, but they were tasty. Idk if I would order again since they cost about $ 6. You could feel the rough grind of the ground turkey while eating them. :/The dipping sauce and spices were fantastic though. The paneer — such a tiny container, also. Literally maybe 2 oz. I should have known. The side only cost $ 2. Be forewarned. Despite the lack of size, it was also great. Mildly spicy though, so if you’re a weak mouthed individual, you might want to steer clear of it. Finally, the chicken dish was also on point. The flavors were what you’d expect, and although most of the take away container was rice rather than chicken, there was enough chicken in there that I didn’t feel cheated on the almost $ 10 price tag. Overall, I did feel like a giant when my order arrived in its dainty paper bag, but I will willingly lord over tiny towns if it means I can have delicious Indian food delivered to my house in under 45 minutes. Kudos to you Spice in the City Dallas — you have won my heart. I will be ordering from you again, and again, and again, and again!
