Great, chill place to get some drinks with your friends. Always friendly service, not pretentious. Good drink prices. Good«bar» food. Big patio.

whatever. i’m grumpy because i don’t like dallas(sorry locals, this SF girl hates humidity) but i had to be there for work recently and this tavern is where we had a function our first night. we had the upstairs area and the servers were great about coming up and delivering us snacks and beverages during our presentations but i gotta say, it got hot as balls up there! sure, we had like 60 people crammed up there and sure, dallas is hot but seriously. it was unbearable. + fried pickles + chips and WARM salsa(the warmth brings out the flavors) + accommodated our group + decent beer selection + lots of outdoor seating i bet this place gets all types of crazy on a friday or saturday night. one complaint: i’m not sure how long we had the upstairs rented for but the staff didn’t say anything to the 8 suited people who waltzed upstairs and walked through our 60 people while some of them were giving a presentation. i felt like a staff member should have told those folks that the upstairs was being used BEFORE the suited folks went upstairs.

This place has a great selection of beer! The bartenders are always nice and they have a really nice atmosphere. I love going here for a drink and to hang with friends. They have a patio area along with a rooftop patio both of which are nice areas to sit at. The beers usually run around 5 bucks but this place is so worth it. I always will stop by for a drink if I am in the area.

was there for dinner and food was great but service was so so sooooooo slow. Had a party 11 a reservation was attempted but no one answers the phone. When my two friends arrived early to reserve a table they were shrugged off and left standing there. We eventually just picked our own table. Server was great and great to look at! When we finally started getting food it was one by one with a huge gap in time between each one. 2 of the appetizers came out after 2 others already received entrees. The 3rd came out after half the table had they’re food. My entrée was dead last. Served at least 30 minutes after the first. I ordered a buffalo chicken wrap. Probably won’t be coming back after this experience. Too bad food was good.

So my one and only experience thus far here was a very nice one! I had just heard of this place(though had seen it off McKinney) from a buddy of mine the week before I stopped in walking my dog. LOVE the number of places in the area that ARE dog-friendly, and this was certainly one of them as the waitress volunteered a bowl of ice water for my four-legged friend on a warm afternoon. I ordered some chips and salsa and wondered why it was taking a while for these to be delivered, until they were and I was told that they HAND-MAKE their chips! Whoa! Immediate brownie point for that! The salsa was really vibrant as well. I ordered their turkey burger, which the waitress told me had some«kick» with the peppers they put into the meat. She wasn’t kidding, but it wasn’t overly hot either. Just a great burger. I had NOIDEA this place would have such great food, but definitely advise checking it out… especially if you also have a dog and out for a walk one afternoon. Oh, and the other surprise, a fellow came out, greeted me, asked me about the food, really made a genuine effort to befriend my dog(and succeeded) and all this to find out he was the OWNER! Bravo, sir. You made me a fan!

With a GREAT patio, a friendly staff, and great people watching, St John’s is a great new-ish spot on McKinney right in front of the two-way split. They’ve got an expansive list of craft beers on draft as well as a decent cocktail selection. They also had a great Bloody Mary and Mimosas special for Sundays. The food is reasonably price and pretty good for bar food. The burgers are good and flavorful. The sweet potato fries were also a hit. The patio is fairly large with lots of benches and stools for seating, pressed up to McKinney Ave. It’s a great place to people watch and watch the trolleys go by. It’s a nice non-pretentious scene and generally not crowded. I barely went inside so I didn’t get a great look at the interior. The service was fast and attentive although our waitress seemed very green at her job. But she was very friendly and attentive so it was no problem. St John’s is definitely a great springtime Sunday spot in the neighborhood. With so many bars nearby with obnoxious crowds and bad food, St John’s is a great addition. Will definitely be back for weekday happy hours as the weather continues to warm up!

This is a great bar! The food sets it apart from other bars in the area, especially at the price range. The service is always very attentive and keeps the place impeccably clean. Best of all, it attracts the type of people I want to hang out with. Get the jalapeño burger, it’s best burger around. The humus and chicken wrap are excellent too!

Another update to St. John’s. They are now open for Lunch weekdays at 11. I’ve had the chance to stop by twice now for a «working lunch» and took advantage of their free WiFi while having a relaxing lunch. The pulled pork sandwich was excellent. I chose the sweet potato fries and enjoyed every bite. The next visit, I had the soft tacos which were just as good. In fact, if you’d like something filling but a bit lighter, I’d definitely suggest the tacos. My coworker had the burger says it was delicious. So, no complaints with the food here!

Great place to watch games! A chill bar with plenty of comfy couches and TVs upstairs. You can reserve the couch area ahead of time. Patio area outside to watch games on a nice day or just hang out with friends. Plenty of beers to choose from and great food! I had the turkery burger. I recommend this place if you are wanting to watch a game somewhere that isnt too crowded. Also, this place has awesome service!

So the clever, insinuating name comes from london’s historic neighborhood, but the concept just feels like an unthoughtful gastropub. Certainly doesn’t transport you to the UK, not via their beer selection, décor or service. Walked in on a Sunday afternoon and the crowd at the bar turned and greeted us with an uncomfortable once-over before a young girl in running shorts and a local high school hoodie finally got off her barstool, emerged from the group, and offered us a «welcome». The new beer list was too much for the staff; Track Star didn’t know the tap selections or pricing, and the latter was absent from said lists once they arrived to the table. By the way, what’s with two separate 2-sided beer menus? We sat outside and had a beer, which we finished while they fumbled the TV programming during the game i was watching on a fuzzy HDTV(get HD service maybe?). The overtime NFL game we were following was changed to a NASCAR race. Curious. Thought Texas was a football state. 2*s for the $ 9 Chimay, which I consider a steal. Otherwise, I don’t see a reason to return.

If this bar had a larger bar, then it might be capable of getting more stars. Ive never seen such a poorly planned layout. Put in a bar upstairs, expand the one downstairs, its just to cramped Its never that busy and theres a reason… lame

Great new neighborhood bar on McKinney Ave. Great patio with McKinney Ave frontage for people watching, menu featuring some tasty bar bites, and, of course, cold beer and delicious cocktails! The GM Patricia is always accommodating for any of their patrons. She really wants you to have the best experience there and come back! I find that to be a valuable asset to any restaurant or bar. Décor is average, but very clean. Might be the cleanest bar on McKinney Ave. It’s also the newest, though. There are a couple arcade games, darts, and pool upstairs if you feel like that! There are plenty of TV’s throughout to watch the game on. Bar service is always sharp. The bartenders can slang drinks out quick and mix with the best. I have had less than stellar service from a waitress on the patio once, but that was definitely the exception, not the rule. As far as the crowd, it’s the typical McKinney Ave 20-something students and young professionals. Sometimes it’s really busy, sometimes it can be light and good for a low key weekend watering hole. They do close at midnight or earlier on some nights(depending on how busy they are). Overall, I like it!

Great patio. I didn’t eat anything the day I was there but did enjoy the beer. I would definitely come back. I will say our server was not very friendly and really slow. It was early afternoon and the place really wasn’t that crowded.

The food here is definitely great. The sliders are mouthwatering, and the quesadilla’s are my favorite. Great place to watch a game, unfortunately, it is quite the hotspot, so you better get here early if you want a seat. It also takes too long to get your drinks. They also have a large patio that is open and great for people watching! Overall I keep coming back, great location and great food. The service can be stepped up a notch though!

Really cool place to grab a drink and a burger. We went on a Saturday night around 7pm and it was a chill, cool atmosphere. The service was great. I think our waitress’ name was Kayla? or Katelyn? The blonde one if anyone from management is reading this. She was quick with our drink orders, our food orders, and more drink orders and engaged in conversation and made it one of the better experiences I’ve had at a «bar» in uptown. To top it off, the owner of the place stopped by and chatted with us and explained to us the history of St John’s Wood… what it means, why he chose the name, etc… which I thought was really cool. So, the burger came out and I thought it was just gonna be a typical bar burger, but this burger was actually REALLY good. I got the bacon blue burger and some friends got the jalapeño burger. Both were amazing and full of juice and flavor. I’d probably say one of the top burgers in uptown in my opinion. I will definitely be coming back to this place for its service, cool outside patio atmosphere, cool owner, great food, and good drink specials as far as I could tell.($ 2 drafts on a Saturday was cool). Highly recommend it.

I’ve been here a few times already. Love the atmosphere and the patio. The staff really makes the experience enjoyable. I’ve had the burgers and the chicken sandwich. Both are amazing. Love the choice of bread they are using as it really makes a difference. I highly Recommend St. John’s Wood!

Really chill place to grab a drink. Be warned though, the mgr WILL change your jukebox purchase if he does not agree with your song choice. The kicker is, he doesn’t have good songs on there to begin with! Hmph, maybe an update would be easier! There were some weirdos amidst when I visited, but isn’t that at any bar? Our server was really on top of everything without being on top of us. And I like that, unless I’ve had 1 too many.

This place seems to have the makings of a really good place. I do like the fact they have an upstairs and downstairs with plenty of patio and tvs to go around. I don’t like the fact that they have a limited food menu, only really burgers and chicken. So be sure to keep that in mind. I do like the beer selection and the atmosphere. Upstairs is perfect for large parties, you won’t be disturbed and you have semi private areas. The staff is friendly and prompt with orders. It does have a nice view of McKinney and you can watch all the douches going to club Aura next door. Overall makes you feel good, but not great.

St John’s Wood… I’m betting I will be butchering that name after a few cocktails sometime in the near future. At any rate, I didn’t find anything particularly special about this place though if I were a betting woman, my money would be on the fact that their patio will be rocking when the temps are good! The inside of the bar is nothing special though, the service & drinks are par with the average uptown bar, and the ‘menu’ is exactly what you’d expect from a bar burger, slider, or chicken sandwich. I’m sure I’ll be stopping by in the future if the crew happens to be there, but it won’t be a place that will pop into my mind otherwise.

Good, cheap place to grab a beer along McKinney… nothing really notable about this place, but nothing wrong with it either.
