Can someone please update the info for this address? A place called Liquid Zoo now resides where the Elephant was. Went by last night for a look-see and, while it’s no Stone Elephant, it ain’t half-bad. A buddy and I split a big basket of wings and had a few beers to wash it all down. I’ll definitely be back for a closer look-see later… PROS: + ICECOLDBEER + Darn good wings with damn good sauce + Friendly service CONS: — Is this an old-folks bar? — No beer on tap, and nothing too exotic — although they’re supposed to be working on the exotic part. — Limited menu — fried appetizers, burgers, sandwiches, and a couple of dinner plate items. It’s not as diverse as the Elephant’s menu used to be(then again, it’s not related to the Elephant). They could use a quesadilla, maybe a grilled chicken sandwich, and a chicken Cesar salad. Just sayin.

I live around the corner and visited for the first time. Lived in lake highlands for three years and been looking for a bar to hang out and watch games. Good joint for that. Not sure about the evening crowds, but the people were nice. Food was good. I’ll definitely come back.

I was sweating in the Texas sun after deciding 2.5 miles wasn’t far to walk to buy my wife a gift while she was away for the weekend. I noticed this bar just as I reached my destination and crawled in for some liquid aid and a chili hot dog. The Dog was standard bar food, very average, fries were salty. Bartender scanned me when I pulled up a seat: sweaty guy with a bag. I don’t think she approved and I had a feeling she thought I was homeless or something! And good grief, someone tell the cook to stop staring out the customers. Creepy! She served me and was polite enough, but first impressions go a long way when I go to a bar and that already soured the experience for me. A very adequate sports bar, nothing more, nothing less.

Awful service here. Had to wait for beers with a small party and ask a few times after I already ordered a beer. Seemed to be only 1 waitress at the bar for a Saturday night. However, there were several people behind the bar but I don’t really know what they were doing. Food is just ok. I wouldn’t recommend.

Bar wiht booster seats and high chairs. I’m really confused. Friend suggested lunch there. We had our teen daughters with us and were concerned it would be more bar than grill. When we pulled up we could see the high chairs and booster seats through the front window and thought maybe more grill. «Mom, why is it sooooo dark in here?» «Sweetie, it’s becuase you’re in a bar.» «Am I allowed in here?» «I can’t really tell.» Actually everyone in there not bellied up to the bar had kids with them, but it was really really dark. There’s a stage with all the weekly events listed – Karoke, live bands, etc. There’s a large bar. There’s a big restaurant styled seating area. And I have no idea what the motiff is. The TV’s scream sports bar. The holes in the wall scream trendy urban. The stone elephants scream I’m confused about what to put in my bar. However, it was really clean, which is nice in the land of faux dive where everything usually has a layer of ick. They do have $ 5 lunch specials. They are okay. I had nachos which I’m sure cost about $ 2 to make. Munchkin had Shiner chili which was also okay. She said the side salad was terrible. I’m assuming there were not enough crutons, becuase it’s hard to mess up lettuce. Saving grace was that the service was awesome. I probably won’t go back just because there’s too many awesome places in Dallas. But it wasn’t bad if you live close by. Really it was 2.5 stars but the great service pulled it up a star.

I first thought the Stone Elephant was a pool hall but it was not. They do have one quarter table but it’s mostly for fun when you’re throwing a few back. If memory serves me correctly they have the city-boy hunting and Golden Tee game by the pool table. After the first double Crown on the rocks I wasn’t given much attention to detail. They have a stage for a band and the night I graced the place with my ghter turning 17.(in other words the joint seems divirsifed.) Of course there’s bar food and a pretty long bar, which made for a retreat from the solo singer on stage, that was showing off his vocal pipes for his GF. There is an outdoor patio for the smokers and those craving some second hand smoke. I hear some good bands have been coming through there and I can’t wait to go back and see if I can hear a jam or 2. If you can handle music and TV watching simultaneously then you’re good to go. So what else? It’s a good vibe in there. People seemed like they just wanted to kick back and drown a few. The crowd was mostly majority America but that guaranteed I didn’t have to watch my back while I sipped on my Crown. I plan to go back and if you’re looking for a little«hideaway» it’s a place to consider.

I decided on The Stone Elephant for my birthday party almost at the last minute. I live in The Village area and I had passed by the location many times, but I was never sure about what it was, so I looked it up. It just so happens, that the night of my shin-dig(Saturday night) landed on a karaōke night! SWEET! I noticed they served food and I called in to ask what time they served until. «Until people stop ordering.» That’s what I was told. AWESOME! If I know my friends, we like to drink and we like to eat and we especially like when we can do both at the same time! So some of my party arrived about 8:30pm with NO reservation. We were gonna be about 35 or 40 people total. When I showed up about 8:50, my friends let me know that we were able to reserve one bar table and about 4 booths for our use. That’s amazing! And the bar wasn’t anywhere near dead, in fact, it was hoppin’, people were singing and there was another party of 50! The place is really nice inside! The tabletops and bar tops were some very nice stone(granite, maybe? i have NO clue.) and the overall look of the bar was very appealing. It felt like the kind of place you could go to after a nice evening for a late night drink and the type of place you can be comfortable in wearing flip-flops and shorts… all in one! Now, I can’t really speak of the service too, too much, because A) I was being bought drinks all night and B) I really don’t remember much other than the major highlights(yay for not driving on your birthday!) but I do know that ALL of my friends had a fabulous time. Everyone got plenty of chances to sing karaōke and I was even able to request that I go up and sing at my exact birth-time! Thanks! I did get a chance to eat some of their cheese sticks and cheeseburger and maybe it’s because I was«three sheets to the wind», but they were damn tasty! I can definitely say that I will be re-visiting The Stone Elephant, without a doubt. Thursdays and Saturdays are Karaōke nights and Sundays are All Day Happy Hour days! Thanks for a wonderful birthday, S.E.!!

The manager contacted me right after my last review and encouraged me to give it another try… he even asked me to let him know when I visited. Well, we have been back twice and I didn’t let them know who I was(wanted to see if there were REAL changes). The first time back was WONDERFUL! Bartenders and staff were very talkative and attentive. We watched a game, had some great food, and left feeling great! The second time was good — service was still better and the bartender was more lively, but the karaōke turned us off. We just aren’t fans of bad singers. I’m sure it would have been fun if we’d been there with a big group and had been drinking heavily, but we left instead. Karaōke is Thur and Sat night, apparently. But, besides that, I do think they have improved service and will plan on going back(on any night but Thur and Sat).

1. Good for it’s proximity to my home. 2. Staff is iffy. Waitress seemed to have a glaze over her eyes and she didn’t seem very confident about anything. 3. GM/owner was very friendly and helpful 4. Food was good and arrived quickly 5. Clean tables and clean bar 6. TV screens were good for watching a game I will definitely go back because it’s a nice place to just go and chill and have a beer or two and not really be bothered.

Mostly harmless. Great décor, simple menu. I can only describe this place as a biker fern bar. My sandwich was good and our waiter kept the tea glasses full. Worth trying again.

The best thing I can say about this place is that it is close to where we live. Lake Highlands doesn’t have many places where dad’s and mom’s can have a few too many and not worry about having to drive far to get home. I’ve been a few too many times. If you’re there by yourself, with your family, or for a meal, you’ve made a poor decision. Prepare to question your decision tree. If you’re there with a dad’s group, it’s 10:30 on a school night and you need a place to sing AC/DC karaōke. OR, you’re a soccer mom and you need an excuse to scream Pat Benatar and explain away your, um, flu to your 8 year old, then you’re home; you’re home.

I have been to this place several times because it is in my neighborhood and there isn’t anything else close. I have given them several chances to get it right because I figured they are new so there are probably kinks that will work themselves out. The first time we went we actually ended up sitting down and nobody came to us to give us a menu after waiting about 15 minutes we went to the bar and waited there for menus. When we finally got menus we were not suprised there is basically just bar food, no big deal. We waited and waited NOWAITRESS help what so ever, they just kept walking past us like we were invisible… We finally asked the bus-boy for drinks and food… We ate and laughed at how horrible the service was but thought, well they are new maybe they will be better the next go around. Three weeks later we went back on a Wednesday night and found out it was trivia night and decided to play(WHAT A BLAST). The trivia is fun and not too hard. They really ask questions that range in knowledge and keep it moving and have fun«competetion» things to get points for. However, once again NOSERVICE, we waited for a waitress to come to the table(they had one working) and after about 20 minutes we ordered our own drinks from the bar which took another ten minutes. When the night was over we went to pay our bill and the waitress had put stuff from the other table on our bill, 2 beers and 3 entrees(that table had already left also) so I guess that food went unpaid for. We ended up loving the night because it was so fun due to the trivia night however we do not want to go back because of the lack of customer service.

I have a pet peeve. When I’m standing at your bar trying to order a simple beer, please do not ignore me. There were at least three bartenders working. Maybe four. It was hard to tell with all the chaos going on behind the bar. I’m not sure what everyone was doing or why everyone looked so frazzled. But one of y’all could have acknowledged me. Even just put a finger up to tell me it’ll be a minute. That’s all I ask for. I wasn’t timing it or anything, but I swear it took five minutes to get noticed. It was long enough that my friends were about to send a search party to find me. This was opening night for the bar. The band that played was good, but I’m partial since I’m friends with some of them. The sound could have been better. The sound system looked impressive from my vantage point, but I never saw the sound guy really do much to improve the sound. Bummer. The lighting was a little weird too. Bars don’t need to be so bright. I felt like I was under a spot light the whole time. I think this place used to be a Corner Bakery, so it has a weird lay out. There is a patio, which is cool and a pool table near the front door. One of my friends ordered a chicken sandwich and it looked decent. I’m hopeful that the kinks from a new bar opening will eventually work themselves out. I can’t say I’ll be in any rush to go back, though.
