Awesome Place! I love this place. Deviled eggs and bangers & smash are my current favorites for dinner. Solid by-the-glass wines. As noted by other posters, the service is always friendly. JB

This place is great! It’s perfect for Lakewood. The food was right on point. I had the deviled eggs, and the burger. Their burger is legit! Too legit to quit! I’ll be back there again soon.

I am a fan indeed. This place just fits. It is so neighbor-hoody, so Lake-woody. It is the place you expect to run into friends having a drink, dinner, brunch. The food is quite good… we really enjoyed the baked wings. The Tuna Press… tuna confit, olive oil, tomatoes, green beans and egg on a pressed french roll… was very, very good. The Lakeshore Burger with ham, eggs and cheese on top was well received by the burger expert in our group. After declaring that steak fries were not our favorite, we found ourselves eating every single one served at the Heights. They tasted homemade. The breakfast menu is simple. The highlight is the Toasted oatmeal granola pancakes, that we found a little too sweet. The basic breakfast was solid, even if the potatoes were uninspired. The best thing about th emits plate was the black beans, which were so good they should consider them as a side on more dishes. The coffee was dark and hearty, as coffee should be. We will definitely return… sooner than later. I am eager to try the onion soup, the tuna nicoise salad and the pot roast.

Great place for a drink. Top notch coffee. And the best food. I usually get the chefs special and have not been disappointed.

Service was the best part of the evening… well, and booze. Booze was great. We had a bunch of appetizers. I like the deviled eggs but you only get 6. You should get more for the price. I mean a dozen eggs makes 24 deviled eggs. Cheese tray was not great. It seems everyone is going out of their way to put super fancy odd cheese on the tray. There is no shame in a good aged cheddar. I really love the one at Libertine. Wings were okay. They were big and meaty. They gourmet them up a little, with a better sauce than the Kraft I use at home. My tuna press was meh. I understand that when I order a warm tuna sandwich I run the risk of getting what tastes like just warm tuna. And I like the flavor of tuna. I expected the flavors beyond the tuna to carry things a little more. You really only tasted fish and crunchy bread. I can do that from a can. Cream brûlée was greatness. It had a great taste and texture. Most places let the custard get a little granulated, but not here. Next time I’m getting double deviled eggs, booze and dessert?

We have dined here for dinner about 4 times now and have not had a bad experience. It’s hard not ordering the chicken pot pie every time because it’s that good. We have tried the mussels as well and they are a stand out as well. It’s not a big menu but plenty of different choices to keep it interesting. Nice crowd and friendly staff.

Let’s just say that as a first time customer our Server/Bartender, «Cindy» sure knows how to make you feel VIP! Especially when she hand picks mint for your mojito(especially when it is 39 degrees outside)!

The Height has less personality than a bank drive through. In a neighborhood known for its its cool bars, this place looks like it was assembled from an IKEA catalog. Putting the cheap bar and poor layout aside; I had to chew both cups of coffee. Oddly enough it didn’t taste bad just had too many grounds. The morning I was there, there were two gentlemen behind the bar holding court and paying no attention to anyone. It seems they should have an office to do that. I’m obviously not a professional writer just wanted to let you know don’t bother with the heights. I’m not a Starbucks fan per say but, they are around the corner. I’d go there next time.

Daddy Jack’s owner operators have set up a bistro in Lakewood center. The Heights is a nice spot for a weekday dinner. The crowd is very neighborhoody, a lot of friendly folks looking for a decent meal on a Wednesday night. The vibe is that of an upscale wine bar, but it does not cross over into«fine dinning» territory. There are some great classics like Steak Frittes, but also down-menu offerings like sandwiches and burgers. A full bar is staffed by very competent bartenders who mix up a terrific Old Fashioned. The brains behind the operation have stocked a good wine list. My wife and I had a lovely meal there. The special that night was pork chops with mushroom risotto and some greens. The pork was cooked beautifully, though the risotto was the standout. Creamy and earthy with a delicious mushroom funk. Our meal was not anything a good home cook could not turn out themselves, but everything was well executed. The Heights is a little caught between concept and the neighborhood market. They are striving to create a fine dinning offering, but most of the crowd here wants a good burger for a modest price. Worth a stop in on a weeknight when you’re too tired to cook and want a nice night out.

Respect the neighborhood intent and the local vibe. That said, the menu is limited and the food is, at best, mediocre. Maybe better as a watering hole.

Went here to grab a quick lunch before heading to do errands and sat for 10 minutes without even being greeted. It’s a tiny little place, so I know the servers weren’t that busy. Felt rejected and will not be returning and I will be telling my friends about my experience.

I love the food here so much I go just about every weekend. I have only been for breakfast, but it has never disappointed! Always very fresh food, the bacon is delish! My favorite is the oatmeal granola pancakes. I have never tasted anything like that, and it is now my weekend staple! I also love their lattes. The only thing to be aware of is that it is a small place and the tables are VERY close to each other, which always seems a little awkward to me. The staff and owners are very friendly, and really do want to make your experience a great one. Definitely give The Heights a try!

When I heard that this restaurant was moving in, I really wanted it to work. After visiting 3 times, I have given up. It feels like a diner with an overpriced menu. On the weekends they give you a very limited menu for breakfast, you only have a few choices. When I visited for lunch, the only item was a burger. Lakewood does not need another burger joint. Breakfast is an average meal, salty and a bit greasy. Service is decent albeit rushed and hurried.

A bit expensive, but nice cozy atmosphere. The staff was very friendly and informative. No tv’s anywhere, which I thought was a nice romantic touch so that you can concentrate on great conversation. I docked a star because of the pricier drinks, not a lot of specials available.

Stopped in here tonight for a beer. There’s nothing actually wrong with this place but I wouldn’t go back. There are better places in the area to stop for a drink. I can’t speak on their food as the kitchen was closed.

I came here as a Lakewood ex-pat excited to try it out, but was a bit disappointed. I had heard great things about the hash, so naturally I ordered, because duh! It came out lukewarm and the red eye gravy was light in color and gelatinous. I normally associate red-eye as more of a thin, au jus-like sauce, but maybe that just how my momma made it. Also of note, I ordered this with egg whites and was disappointed that they used eggbeaters in lieu of fresh eggs. I will applaud our waitress Carrie. She was attentive and super cheerful. Nothing about my experience was bad, but I was really hoping for The Heights to blow my socks off and it just didn’t. I will be back to try again, maybe in a few months, in hopes of a better experience.

The Heights is the perfect addition to Lakewood! The new owners came in and remodeled the old Legal Grounds space by lifting the ceilings, opening the blinds, adding a long beautiful bar, and reconfiguring the tables — which makes the space feel more open, less cavernous and less on top of your neighbor feel. Many of the line cooks and wait staff were carried over which means that you can order anything from the old LG menu if you like. This is their way of paying homage to the old joint and the regular customers who were upset about the change. My husband and I decided to try our breakfast first and we were not disappointed. We arrive with our new born and massive stroller which I was expecting eye rolls or annoyed servers when instead we were greeted with friendly smiles and helpful hands. We were seated at the last table near the kitchen, which in the old space would not have been accessible with a stroller but because of the reno was easy as pie to get in and out of. The menu is nothing massive or crazy, just solid clean and easy. We decided one sweet and one savory — a shirt stack of the oatmeal pancakes from the old Legal ground menu, which comes with a side of protein(we opted for the bacon, duh) and the huervos rancheros(I don’t speak Spanish not can I hardly spell in English) Everything was great. The pancakes are a little heavy because of the oatmeal but you don’t feel like a blob after eating them either. Perfectly cooked and toped with the house made granola, dab of whipped cream and some fresh berries. The bacon on the side was crunchy and not greasy — just how I like it — with a bit of a Smokey flavor so when I dipped it into the syrup from the pancakes it was the perfect combo bite of salty and sweet. We also got the huervos rancheros. Don’t judge me if I spelled that wrong. I am too lazy to Google it to see if it’s write. Any who. They were great. Served with strips of crispy tortillas, side of salsa(which looked and tasted home made — if I am remembering correctly the old place had like old do Paso from the can…). The beans were nice and smokey like the bacon — they almost had a new orleans red bean flavor. Eggs perfectly cooked and seasoned. No salt or anything needed. Cheers guys! Really happy you came to our hood and looking forward to many wonderful meals! See ya Monday for lunch ;-)
