Tootsie’s is the perfect spot to grab a quick burger during the lunch rush. They are very quick and the burgers are made fresh to order. The toppings bar is fully stocked with very fresh, lettuce, tomatoes and onions. Everything you need to make the perfect burger. The French Fries are hot and well seasoned. The burgers have been a little mixed in my experience. Sometimes seasoned sometimes not. You will not get a gourmet burger here. They are well prepared, BBQ cookout type burgers that taste homemade and come with fresh crispy lettuce. Service is a little rushed, but there is lots of seating available for those who don’t take it to go.

The food is awesome! The burgers are great and the buns are homemade. Makes a huge difference. Quality is awesome and all orders made to order. Wish they were open on the weekends because I want to bring everyone here. Service is good and there’s a daily special. Everything pretty affordable. Interested in trying the breakfast one day.

I tried this place because it was within walking distance of work. And I’m glad I did I got the bacon cheeseburger because it was the day’s special and it was so good. Real strips of bacon fried up right in front of you and the meet was tasty and the buns grilled on the inside. Very good. The place is not fancy and you put on your own condiments. The fries were good but nothing special however the burger was great and the price is great I would definitely recommend it. I’m sure I’ll go back.

This is the best hamburger joint you can find downtown Dallas at the price and probably any price. Their bread is freshmade daily. Whenever friends come by I bring them there for lunch and they always love it. I frequent the cheeseburger whenever I go by and there is a filling station with all the toppings you need(Think Fuddruckers). Wonderfully friendly people.

The burger I had was really, really good. It was a bacon cheeseburger, they had a special, I enjoyed it, that’s it. …okay, I lie. There’s something artless about Tootsie’s. I can’t think of a better word for it. It’s kind of like, «as long as what comes off the grill tastes good, and we’re passing health code stuff, we’re good.» That burger I got was a bacon cheeseburger, and all the strips of bacon were full-length such as I might fry up for breakfast, visibly sticking out both sides of the bun. They have a fixings bar for your lettuce, condiments, etc. It’s got all the basics you could want, but it’s still just the basics, and when I got there towards the end of the day they were visibly running out of tomato slices.(I wonder if the person below just grabbed their sandwich and went, not realizing that everything else she might want was behind them) The fries are simple, and in contrast to the burger don’t have much flavor or anything. I tried salt, I tried pepper, but in the end they were a just-cooked ketchup-delivery platform and had few merits of their own. There wasn’t a whole lot of décor or anything; that’s not bad per se, but it means it doesn’t stick in the mind so well compared to, say, the Mad Hatter Sandwich shop literally around the corner. …I think the burger I had here better than the sandwiches I’ve had there, though. tl;dr: The burger had plenty of flavor, but everything else lacked character. YMMV.

I ordered a turkey sandwich. It was one slice of turkey on Texas toast. Literally Bread, Turkey Slice, Bread. No cheese, lettuce, tomato, Nothing. Worst sandwich ever.

If you’re looking for a really good homade tasting burger this is the place. The burgers are delicious. Its probably the only thing on the menu I would get. I got the bacon cheese burger and it was great. It is very greasy though. They have a couple sides to choose from. I went with my co-workers and we all go different sides so I got to try some. They had fried okra, french fries, and onion rings. The fried okra and onion rings were my favorite. It seems they are also known for these huge cinammon rolls but apparently you have to get them early because they run out by 10am. So that would be more a breakfast than lunch. Anyway, this is a great place to have lunch. Not very healthy but delicious burgers. Prices are decent.

First time at Tootsie’s and it was a great experience. Went on a Friday and had the special, Bacon Cheeseburger, fries and a soda. The prices are pretty good, in comparison to when you go to a fast food chain. I also liked the fact that they make their buns daily and allow you to dress your own burger, somewhat similar to Fuddruckers. All in all, the food was tasty and I will be back!

The burgers are soooooo good here! Very eclectic place, don’t go for the wallpaper or the windows, but for the amazing food.

I just liked the old fashioned feel to this place. It’s simple and looks like a dining room … from someone’s home. The prices are really low which is really RARE in downtown Dallas! I would definitely frequent this place very often if I could walk to it. I just ordered the cheeseburger. It wasn’t huge but it wasn’t tiny. The flavor was definitely there which is something you can’t say about most burgers at this price point. Then there was a toppings bar where you add your own veggies n stuff. I would NOT take a special trip back to this place but I would stop in if I was driving by and hungry and on a budget.

It’s almost difficult for me to write a review because I don’t want everyone in the world knowing about this little gem of an eatery. I’ve eaten a few things off their menu, and everything is to die for. As you’ve probably seen or heard, their homemade buns for their sandwichs are incredible. Their Friday special is the bacon cheeseburger and fries. Amazing. I’ve also had their chicken tenders and I’m going there today to get some b/c I’ve been craving it for a few weeks now. You can also ask to make them into a sandwich so that you get the yummy bread. Their breakfast sandwichs are delicious! Their bacon for everything is crip and hearty. I’ve seen other menu items. Their salads look the size of two meals and they look delicious as well. When you place your order, you’ll find yourself looking at what everyone else has ordered. It’s addicting(in a good way) to say the least! :) Enjoy!

First of all you should know this is not a «Café». It’s a hole in the wall burger joint. I have been working and eating downtown since 2008 so I’ve been to a lot of places and I think this is the best burger deal available. decent burger on a homemad bun and they have a well stocked condiment station(think Fudruckers) available. I’t usually not too busy so it doesn’t take long to place your order and get your food. They have a daily special but the difference between the special and the regular menu price is only a few cents so you can pretty much order whatever you want. I agree with the other reviewers that the burger is their best item. I have not ordered a non-burger but I have eaten with people who have and they have not been happy. You can get a bacon cheeseburger, fries, and a drink for $ 7.57 all in so this makes it one of the best deals in Downtown Dallas. If place was a little nicer I would give it 5 stars.

Just a good burger place. I have never had any of the other menu items. The buns a made fresh, the service is quick, and the condiment bar never leaves me wondering how good the vegetables are. They have fantastic bacon and are liberal with it. Don’t let the daily specials by the register fool you. Just get what you want… the special only saves you like a dime.

Great lunch spot downtown– the service is fast and the burgers are great. Stopped in with a group of coworkers and had the Swiss mushroom burgers and fries. The food was ready quickly and I liked that the toppings were on a salad bar so you could pick and choose. The fries were crisp and delicious. Definitely not a stop if you are trying to eat healthy but pretty tasty nonetheless!

They have great food — as long as you’re not looking to eat healthy. But yea, it’s a GREAT deal for a lot of food(but it’s really bad for you)! BROWNIESAREGREAT! And cheap!

WTF is that?! I popped in with a co-worker and he suggested I get a cinnamon roll. I’ve been known to love a cinnamon roll, so I complied. After reading Eric’s review, I realize that most people know this– but I didn’t… The cinnamon rolls are the size of a kindergartener’s head. It barely fits in the to go box(you know the size you use for an entire dinner). When they pull it out of the oven, the take out a pitcher of butter, and douse it on good. Then a pitcher of frosting, and load it up. Whoa, I did not sign up for this! So, now back at the office. I cut into it like a pie, and ate maybe 1⁄8th of it. Good. A little breadier than I might prefer, but it is incredibly fresh tasting. As Eric pointed out– the other funny thing is the menu. It’s completely overwhelming. Posted above the wall, it probably stretches 12′ x 4′. Then because that’s not enough room, they have added on all sorts of additional papers stapled on at the bottom. I can’t remember nearly half the stuff on that menu– but I do recall loaded baked potatoes for about 3.50– not bad. Otherwise it seemed to largely be burgers and breakfast. A weird experience of overall, and I would go back. But… I don’t know, will have to see if it grows on me.

I don’t know why this place has such a low rating but I love it! About every other Friday I come here for lunch since its only a block north of where I work. You don’t go to this place if you want to eat healthy(there’s a subway right next door if you ‘re really counting the calories). There is always a daily special and its usually a cheeseburger, fries and drink. The Philly Cheesesteak is decent. This place isn’t a gourmet restaurant by any means. Its just a tasty, fast, definitely unhealthy mom and pop shop serving the downtown workers/residents.

This place is known for 3 things: 1. Amazing giant Texas-size cinnamon rolls — really good first thing in the morning. They make these fresh on-site and one will feed about 5 people. And it is so cheap too! 2. A huge menu board with all sorts of grammatical hilarity and no order whatsoever. 3. Greasy burgers on fresh buns.

Eeesh… went out to lunch withe the co-workers…I’ve been trying to «eat healthy» all the time lately, and this place is about as unhealthy as you can get. Burgers with oversized white buns, fried chicken sandwiches, country-fried steak, etc. I don’t think there is anything on the menu that isn’t fried. Unless you count a plain salad. Prices are ok for downtown as they have a daily special(this day it was a cheesburger, fries and a drink for $ 5.50). But again, I don’t care what the price is, I never feel good after eating a special like this. I had the cheeseburger and it was a really sad specimen. Floppy patty, soggy bun, and tasteless.
