One of the best places to find a delicious menu and exceptional service. Please stop by and check VH out. You work regret it! The owner, Victor, has done a great job with establishing the right mix in creating the comfortable ambiance.

My husband and I dropped in for a cup of coffee. That’s all we ordered since we had just left Creotia’s on Davis Street. The coffee here suuuuucked big time. The espresso machine was broken(Victor said) so we had 2 regular coffees. Before I ordered I asked if the coffee was strong and he said Yes! Well, I don’t know where Victor is from or if he drinks coffee but this Coffee was not strong at all! I was very disappointing :(and at $ 3.50 a/cup, I was expecting something a little better. It tasted like Community Coffee to me. I will never order coffee from here again. It was a Nat’l Holiday(MKL Jr.) so my usual spots in Bishop Arts for Coffee was either too full or closed. Lesson learned.

The VH Casual Dining & Bar is on the scale of a private house it once was. It has been tastefully modernized to create an elegant café and bar. The first thing I noticed was the interior of the place. It was very cozy and charming with dark colors and wooden furnitures. It’s a quiet and simple restaurant and bar with class, perfect for intimate private dinners. Enjoy your moment with friends while feasting on a modern meal served by polite staff. The lady server were very attentive and treated like a friend or family. It had a great atmosphere and very pleasant service. But now for the food, I ordered VH Burger along with Ballast Point Sculpin IPA on tap. Burger looks elegant and big which made with TX Wagyu, kaiser roll, green leaf lettuce, smoked bacon, fontina, avocado and grain mustard. This combination didn’t work well for me. The medium well patty had a high sodium taste and completely dry. All the glitters are not gold. The friendly lady server gave me a lecture about their weekend brunch and other menu items during my time inside the restaurant and other offerings sounds appealing. I may return to try their brunch and other offerings in the future but not for the Burger!

Great new restaurant in the Bishop Arts District! 5 stars because there was nothing negative to say. Great service and the owner came around to our table to make sure everything was perfect. We did go in NYE so I’m sure it usually doesn’t have music blasting. I had the escargot and mushroom pasta appetizer as my entrée because I knew I wanted dessert. My husband had the se bass which was really good. For the dessert I had the rumchata cake with Cinnamon Toast Crunch and dulce de leche which was a party in my mouth!

VH Casual exists on the outskirts of the Oak Cliff dining corridor and offers the traditional fare you might find in most of the bar and grills in the area: hummus, burgers, and salads – all done in unique fashion. Unfortunately, the menu aligns closely with roughly 3 or 4 restaurants in the area. That being said, I am growing wearisome of the New American concept… not so new anymore. Perhaps a bit of focus could help. With mahi, tofu, and pot roast all vying for attention, the eclectic fine dining concept the kitchen is pursuing can quickly lose precedent in VH’s gastropub ambience. To help pad the rather mediocre experience, I will attest that I have observed a number of dining spaces in Oak Cliff that just can’t seem to get its concept off of the ground… establishments with a high amount of turnover. VH sits in a rather difficult spot, surrounded by many local joints and far removed from the Davis corridor.

Amazing, amazing and amazing ! From the get go everything was so pleasant, welcoming and delightful! The minute you walk in you are automatically greeted by someone if not all! Not that I expect it, but it’s nice to be acknowledged. As I waited for my friend the owner Victor Hugo immediately came over and introduced himself to me. You don’t get that kind of service at most Dallas restaurants ! The food was amazing, the drinks were amazing and of course dessert was awesome too! Ah, and let’s not forget about our waiter… Selvin or Melvin I believe he was super attentive and super friendly. I definitely plan on coming back with my fiancé!

I am writing this as I sit at the bar and allow this amazing meal to settle with a cocktail. the«Bacon wrapped Pork Tenderloin» was FANTABULOUS! I will be bringing friends here tomorrow to sample more amazing dishes. The drinks are Awesome and the service is very good with great conversation. The ambiance of this quaint house turned into a small but very comfy bar, lounge restaraunt takes you back in time. THANKYOUNICOLE for a great experience.

I can’t get enough of VH — Oak Cliff. The food is delightful; the flavors, presentation, service, and ambience are exceptional. I’ve had the pleasure of dining in some of the best restaurants in the world, and VH — Oak Cliff is among my most favorite places for a meal. I love the combination of first-class service and cuisine with an inviting and relaxed atmosphere. Victor is a wonderful host, and his staff members follow suit.

For a once upon a time home the curb appeal and interior décor is very attractive. The dark color scheme is soothing and classy. Love the wood paneling and the back accent wall. I know that this should be a review of the food but said the food was not as impressive as the décor. The food was ok. I could see where the flavors where trying to go but it slightly missed the mark for me. I got the turkey melt and it was not bad. My coworker got the mahi tacos and it was very pretty(full of bright colors). Collectively, the four of us said the food was ok.

Came here for an anniversary dinner with my fiancé. It was on a Monday night, but that was our anniversary and we had a busy week so Monday it was, bite me. Anyway, because it was Monday there weren’t a lot of people in there, so we were seated immediately. The restaurant is actually a house that was turned into a restaurant; the dining area is cozy looking and dimly lit, making for an ambience conducive for a casual dinner with a few friends, or a date night. Also has outdoor seating. Overall, it was a really good meal! BACON-WRAPPEDPORKTENDERLOIN – pork wrapped pork. came with sweet potatoes and drizzled on top was a maple-sherry reduction. Sounds redundant(and perhaps indeed so) – pork on pork, sweet on sweet – but it somehow worked. Recommended. SPAGHETTINERO – ham, calamari, artichoke, spicy marinara on black pasta(which I assume is squid ink)? The pasta was fresh and made in-house, the spicy marinara was perfect for tying together the ham, calamari, and artichoke; it was also a perfect heat(not too spicy, not too bland). And yes, I get the calamari and squid ink pasta being together was probably for cleverness; but it works and it tasted really good overall. Also recommended.

LOVE. My boyfriend and I went for dinner and I was surprised at how romantic the atmosphere was! The photos on here don’t do it justice. They had a nice fire pit outside and plenty of dim, dreamy lighting inside. Our food was amazing. The list of specials was ridiculously long(in a good way.) I ordered a salmon special and was completely satisfied. Also, they have an extensive wine list. However, I chose a cocktail with muddled jalapeño and it was refreshing, original, and went perfectly with our meal. Pro tip: Order dessert. I don’t care how full you are, you’ve got room. We ordered a tiramisu type cake and it was amazing. Also, the waiters were great. When one of the waiters(not ours) heard us exclaim that another diner’s food looked good, he brought it over to the table for a second to explain their order. He definitely went above and beyond. Everything came out in good time. We’ll be back!

This is an AMAZING restaurant!!! It is a quaint house style establishment off of Beckley in Dallas just on the outskirts of Bishop Arts in Oakcliff. I have been to VH3 times so far, and if it were closer I would go there WAY more! The décor is beautifully done, every detail thoughtfully considered from the dining area to the restroom(I want to steal the dresser in the woman’s restroom). The food is INCREDIBLE! My personal favorite is the calamari fries, so yum! I have gotten this app every time that I have been here and have never been let down. Lunch time(the first time I came) was a relaxed environment, best time to come in my opinion. I had the turkey melt which was YUM! The next time I came it was at dinner time, I had the VH burger which was very good, but I had order envy towards my fiancé. He ordered the pot roast which looked, smelled and tasted(yes I stole some) incredible! I’m totally getting that next time! I will be back… Again and again!

The food was decent, but their brunch menu is very generic. I’m not usually an indecisive person, but I couldn’t pick a dish because nothing was that enticing! We ended up trying the chicken fried chicken, carnitas hash, and french toast. The chicken fried chicken was nothing special. The white cheddar grits was a bit disappointing… My hash was good but extremely soppy. The french toast made for a good dessert, but I couldn’t imagine eating it for a meal. My friend could barely finish because of how sweet it was. Overall, nice place, super attentive service, but I wish brunch was better!

Brunch on Sunday morning is always a good idea. Brunch after running a race on a Sunday morning is an even better idea. So, finding a place worth satisfying my typical post-run hunger was critical to continuing the weekend successfully. VH Casual Dining is one of those places. However, the first challenge is finding parking in the somewhat small lot right next door. I happily happened upon a pair of backup lights or else I might have been waiting awhile. Since it was a sunny, beautiful day, requesting a table on the outdoor patio was a no-brainer while pondering my dining options. My eyes stopped on the Eggs Benedict on the brunch menu and a decision was made. A good decision it turned out to be, especially with side of fried potatoes. Although the food was very good, the service was somehow even better. My waiter was extremely polite, attentive and efficient, which is not always assumed nowadays. A great experience from beginning to end, so I’m very glad I stopped by. 4.5 Stars.

VH Casual Dining & Bar achieves it’s objective of being a good dining and bar establishment with a casual yet classy vibe, but with as competitive as Dallas is when it comes to casual eats, VH’s ‘VH Burger’ didn’t quite do it for me. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? VH’s atmosphere mimics that of some of the establishments around it(Jonathan’s comes to mind), having seemingly converted a traditional Oak Cliff residence into a Brunch/Bar/Dinner spot with an old-timey Southern yet comfortable vibe. That’s not a bad thing, and friendly service pairs well with an atmosphere conducive to groups or individuals at table or bar alike. What more could you ask for? Star Granted. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? If you look at any of my other reviews you’ll quickly learn that I have a pretty hard cap with regard to sit down burgers: $ 15.00. Unless Peter Luger is dishing me up in New York City, I ain’t paying more than $ 15.00 for your burger, and if I am? I’d better be blown away or I won’t be a happy camper. VH’s ‘VH Burger’ just snuck under the radar at $ 15.00 even, and I’ll throw them a bone a bit considering the hefty burger came with a hearty order of fries. Star Granted. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? The VH Burger does some things really, really well and others lesser so. The most important bit — the patty, kills it with respect to size(seriously, this has got to be one of the larger patties in Dallas), but lacked a bit with regard to flavor. I always make a point to take a bite of nothing but patty as a means of judging my burger, and the VH Burger patty came up just a little bit short with no unique or powerful flavor worth mentioning. The bun? Acceptable, although nothing special. From there things were pretty standard, with tasty bacon working together with a bit of avocado(that I asked to have excluded, but these things happen). A real point of weakness was the fries, which I’ll bet all the money in my wallet were as frozen as they were oversalted. Some good, some bad. Single Star Granted. Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could? VH seems to be doing well, and I’m glad they are, but there are simply better burgers and better bars in Dallas. No Star Granted.

QUICKHIT(Must Go vs. Consider Checking It Out vs. Pass/Don’t Bother): Must GO Atmosphere: Located in Oak Cliff towards Bishop Arts area. True to its name, VH offers very laid back, but socially intimate, dining. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. The relaxed ambiance lends the restaurant to be a perfect setting for a casual dinner, date night, or social outing. Food: In short, the food is excellent. High quality ingredients under the mastery of very skilled chef makes for unique, flavorful, and well thought out dishes. At my last dinner we ordered: –Ahi Tuna — Spot on. Came with chips. The tuna was fresh and cooked perfectly. It made even my seafood-averse friend ask for his own appetizer. –Sweet Potato Johnny Cakes — Blue crab + Mango + Sweet corn relish… how can that not be an incredible bite. and it was. –Duck and Goat Cheese Tacquitos — Another excellent bite, although I wish each piece came with a bit more duck which was overpowered by the cheese. –Sea Bass — It was the seafood special of the day. Well prepared. Cohesive flavors. –Red Wine Wagyu Pot Roast — Wow. I would eat this every night for dinner. Seriously. –Peanut Butter Ball — Pretzels were a bit stale. This particular dessert was just OK. Service: Our waitress was excellent. Friendly. Prompt. Gave us her own recommendations making dining choices that much easier. Overall, VH Restaurant is a culinary gem, and one that I will continue to dine at frequently.

A fairly new restaurant around Oak Cliff with amazing service, good food and tasty drinks! I came here for brunch with my mom and had a fantastic time. From the second we walked in we were immediately greeted by the owner and taken to a table. Drinks orders were taken promptly followed by our food order. Which I highly recommend trying their take on the«Micheleda,» a classic Mexican tomato/beer cocktail but made ten times better with their signature bloody mary recipe! What I loved about this place was not only their décor(which is modern, classy and very rustic all at the same time), but I noticed the owner, Victor, going around to each table and taking a minute to thank all of the patrons for coming in. THAT right there is so unheard of and what makes you want to come back and support this local business. Now back to the food. I ordered the omelette while my mother tried the carnitas hash. Both were equally amazing but I have to admit when I come back for brunch I will definitely be ordering the carnitas hash. I can’t stop thinking about how wonderful the pork tasted with a sunny side up egg dressed with homemade salsa verde. Truly an explosion of flavor in your mouth! I cannot wait to come back!

Popped in here for a birthday celebration supper. A very small, yet charming little restaurant used to be a house. The two guys working were super nice and friendly. I think one of them was the owner. We were the only customers so our service was flawless as it should have been. Think of this place as a upscale modern cuisine kinda joint. It is very small and cozy. Our dining experience would have been perfect if they would have had some soft music playing. We were the only customers so the place was super quiet. My problem with this is that every thing we said could be heard easily by the staff. Uncomfortable atmosphere. Turn on some piano music guys. The food was simply delicious! We got the bacon wrapped pork tenderloin and the grilled salmon. Both plates were professionally dressed. Beautiful presentation. The tenderloin rested nicely atop the sweet potato purée with the green chile succotash placed nicely between the tenderloins. The flavors all came together on this dish. The meat was very tender and succulent and the bacon set it off nicely. That dish was worth every bit of the $ 19 we paid for it. The salmon was another winner. The filet was delicately placed atop the asparagus which had been topped with a dill-dijon cream sauce. The potato and watercress salad had been carefully placed on the other end of the plate opposite the dill-dijon sauce. Perfect! The salmon was perfectly prepared. Nice, moist and flaky. The chef is definitely on his game here. This was another winner and worth the $ 19. It was my partners birthday so we ordered a slice of German Chocolate Cake to go. I was kind of expecting them to throw the cake in for free since it was for his birthday, but, they didn’t. No worries. What our waiter did do, without being asked, was bring it to the table with a sparkly candle in it. That was cool. Good job! Overall wonderful experience. Everything from the complimentary bread with the basil pesto dipping sauce, to the salad and main course to the desert was a five star experience. Minus one star for lack of ambiance.
