One of my most favorite reliable inexpensive Chinese restaurants has gone out of business. I’m sad, so sad.

Not the best Chinese restaurant I’ve ever been in but not bad either lots of food lots of rice. Have 325 specials for rice plate. If you’re on a budget I would come here smells like Chinese food as you walk in that’s a plus order to go. I would no call equality but quanity

It’s not a very nice or fancy restaurant but it’s affordable and great service! For $ 10, you can have lunch and dinner!

I’ve never written a review for this place!!! Impossible. It’s been over 11 years since I first discovered this place. Yes 11 years ago someone I knew got food poisoning and was throwing up for 3 days. And yes I stopped eating here for awhile because someone showed me this article about how some cheap Chinese restaurants used rat meat instead of chicken in their dishes and it looked identical to the chicken in Mr. Chans chicken fried rice. but all that aside, I’m back!!! I was driving by Mission when my husband and I were talking about where we should eat for dinner and the sign in the window caught my eye. SPECIALS SALT&SPICYPORKCHOP FRIEDCHICKENWINGS FRIEDMILKFISH $ 3.24 I told my husband. «Wow Babe Mr. Chan’s has food for $ 3.24!!! Did I read that right? Can we make a U turn and double check? Maybe I didn’t read it right… Maybe that 3 is a 5. and its $ 5.24.»(which is a lot closer to a believable price). I was in disbelief and making all sorts of excuses because I couldn’t believe it. You CANT eveRRR get ANYthing ANYwhere for $ 3.24…except Mr. Chans apparently. So we made our U turn and saw it really WAS $ 3.24! SOOO we decided to take advantage of this opportunity because when else would we EVER be able to get a rice plate for $ 3.24? We’re opportunists. and adventurous… and fearless foodies so thats where we decided to go for dinner! Nothing too special but nothing too horrible either. This ain’t the Ritz. What else do you expect from a small little hole in the wall with realllllly cheap prices and fast service? In my opinion, definitely worth the $ 3.24 well spent.

So I have been here a few times and it has always been pretty good… I don’t know if they have a change in cooks/staff…but this was by far the worst chinese food that I have ever had! It was almost like they gave us food from earlier in the day… the fried rice was even bad…

What makes decent Chinese food? Cheap ingredients. Cheap labor. Cheap rent. Some food critique said that to find good Chinese restaurant is, Chinese cuisine is very varied, so keeping an open mind is key. Really? I don’t think so. I think that sounds like Chinese Food is like a whore, anything goes, I really don’t think so. Good Chinese Food is Good only because they tried and studied so many different way to find a good recipe from ingredients that rich people won’t eat. And you should not be open mind because if you did, you’ll get sucked big time because you really don’t know what the Fxxx is in your mouth and chewing it. So, stay cool, keep yourself and mouth tight, open mind is not key! What Should You Know About Chinese Cuisine? Black people in the restaurant. If you see black people in the restaurant, that is the sign of eatable Chinese, fit to be consumed as food, Black people are so picky when it comes to fried food and Asian food. I can trust that. They all like Chinese dish like«Sweet and Sour Pork», Don’t they? When I saw a black man eating the dish for my 1st time, it was 30 years ago, he was friend of mine in a Chinese restaurant, I was like«WTF you eating?» It’s all red and I saw few bright yellow pineapple cubes in it. Never Ever seen such a ugly looking food before. It was like red vomit coming out of his rear end. Did not make any sense to me. I was a ignorant stupid idiot. The black man, his name was Samuel said, «C’mon, Nobu, have a bite, then, if you don’t like it, I understand, just try some first.». So, I did. It was not too bad. Since then, when I go to cheap Chinese restaurant, I ordered Sweet and Sour Pork, and found out that it is not the same thing. I had such a disgusting Sweet and Sour Pork many times. So, it all up to who is cooking. Knowing cook is key. If you don’t, like me, it’s a gamble. Also, If you see white people in a Chinese restaurant, forget it. I don’t even stay there. It’s because it seems like white people are more allergic to spicy-hot flavor Asian food. It means they like more flat, plain, boring flavor. I went out with a blond girl once about 16 years ago took her to Sushi dinner, but she didn’t want Wasabi. I lost my erection the night. About Mr.Chan. The location is very strange. What area is this? It is in Daly City but the area seems no one care though of. It is on Mission Street. Next to Jefferson High. It’s very typical Cheap Chinese restaurant décor, you know the«décor», Just table and chairs, The food is cheap, and cheap. But, YOU’LLEATIT because it’s not too bad. Don’t worry, even it seems a bit scary. I have to say, Yes, I am a fan of Mr. Chan’s. How about this Mr. Chan?

I visited this place last night to give it a try again… A favor to my mom. It actually turned out good and the food wasn’t too bad as last time. I would give the 3 stars for the food. The restaurant needs a major renovation that’s for sure. The food had improved a lot.

This place is amazing. I’ve lived at my apartment for over a year and had no clue it was literally a walk away. The food is SOOOOOO cheap for what you get. It’s ridiculous. I can’t believe I’ve been chilling at Jollibee across the street and eating their stupid burgers. $ 3.24 specials? This is nuts for being so close to SF. But primarily it’s the great food and the people there. They’ll price everything to your benefit. I ordered a salt and pepper prawn dish worried it might be too much food and they priced a special price. Maybe I’m a big eater or something. But the portions were just right. But very large for the price. I think I’ll be coming back here often.

Their salt and pepper pork isn’t anything compared to Fung Wah. Just go down the street, you will happier.

Seriously cheap eats, the beef scrambled egg over rice was on point. You can get combinations of different dishes over rice, just ask(they’re nice people)! People need to stop bitchin’ about the quality of the food here; you get what you pay for… BRO.

A family owned, family runned restaurant. It will probably get overlooked a lot, but give it a chance when you really want some chinese food for a cheap price you really cannot find anywhere else. I’ve been here a few times and I have not been disappointed each time.

I must say that I was expecting a better meal thanks in part to some of the reviews posted here. The customer experience was great but the food was good, it did not blew me away as other places have done. One thing is certain, their brocoli beef was good, the beef was very nice an tender and the brocoli was cook really nice. their fried rice with chicken was prepare really nice thou I needed to add soy sauce to it to bring the full flavor out. However, the lemon chicken was lacking flavor, so was the egg roll and there was nothing that I could do to save it, their hot and sour soup was good compare to many other places thou I think it would be great if they consider adding lemon grass to it to add smooth lemon bitternes to the soup. I would go back if I happen to crave affordable chinese food.

Not bad at all, this place. It was empty when I came here for dinner to go altho I can imagine this place filling up during lunch. I ordered their invidual plate of egg roll, wonton soup, bbq pork fried rice and cashew nut chicken. All that for only $ 7.10 with tax. Very very cheap and I waited 15 minutes for it. Got home and guess what? Is that for real, no MSG? Impressive, with all the chinese restaurants drowning their food with MSG, Mr. Chan choose to go all natural, eh? The wonton soup was tasteless, I was not really a fun. Everything else I liked. It was a good portion too and I finished most of it. I’ll definitely be getting more food to go from this place.

This restaurant is the kind that really teaches you not to judge a book by its cover! I’ll admit, this place is a bit of a sight for sore eyes but its outward appearance(& inward appearance for that matter) are completely misleading! What I love about this place ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ –our waiter was extremely attentive! Most times you go to a mom & pop chinese shop you expect the err… accent barrier? to result in some sort of glitch in your meal but he went out of his way to insure he got our order correctly!(Which I very much respect because it isn’t easy to sit there & struggle with a language that obviously isn’t your first for longer than necessary in order to guarantee the order is correct) Plus the guy was just generally sweet and came to check up on us at least three times. –The portions were huge!!! Seriously, I wouldn’t have minded paying twice the price because the portions are definitely twice as large as I’m used to for the price! –You guessed it, the price! Dirt cheap! I got my soup eggrolls and vegetable foo young with a side of rice for just under ten bucks! Thats unheard of! –It was the best Vegetable foo young i’ve ever had in my life! & I consider myself a bit of a connoisseur of vegetable foo youngs(not trying to sound cocky but your selection is quite limited when your a vegetarian whose family & friends love chinese food!) & foo young is almost always my choice :]

Best mom and pop shop in town!!! If you are a baller on a budget like me, this is the place to go. The rice plates that are available are gigantic! For basically less than five dollars, my stomach is about to explode. My favorite rice plate is scrambled egg with beef over fried rice. Soooo… goood… I went to high school down the street from here Mr. Chans so it was granted I always ate here when I was younger. I basically grew up on their chinese food. I also live down the street, a simple phone call for food to order, and Im there with the quickness!!! Yes it is a little ghetto. Yes its not that clean. But the food is the bomb! Try the salty fish fried rice… I order this to-go often! Definitely try this place out!

My grandma’s go to Chinese restaurant was closed on a Wednesday night so we went on a hunt to find another Chinese restaurant and stumbled upon Mr. Chans. So the interior is not the best. It’s run down and dirty and could really use a deep cleaning and renovation, however, there were several people seated. Prices are dirt cheap but I’m certain that the quality of food is not the best. We ordered egg drop soup, lemon chicken, and a fish dish. All were fine, definitely not spectacular. It’s a toss up of whether I’d return here.

Your the meaning in my life… your the inspiration! you bring feeling to my life… your the inspiration! This place is owned by Jackie Chan… which is why the food is KICKIN! When I eat at Mr. Chan’s… I feel more like a man… actually…I’ve never been here… However… I know for a FACT… the«Milk Fish» for $ 2.77 is the best«Milk Fish» deal in town. The only thing keeping me from eating here: Jolly Bee’s Yum Yum Burger… btw… only place in town with sweet and sour hot dog… BooM!

It look like a hole-in-the-wall. It feels like a hole-in-the-wall. You probably drove by this place so many times and never noticed it was there. That’s because it IS a hole-in-the-wall located right across from the Mission Plaza. It all started when the BF and I finally noticed this place after driving by it so many times to get groceries at Lucky’s. One day after class, when he was too lazy to cook, we decided to give this place a try, especially since it was about 4 blocks away from home anyway. We ordered a few dishes thinking some of them would eventually become leftovers within the next few days. To our surprise, this hole-in-the-wall restaurant has pretty good food and for a pretty decent and cheap price. I’m not much of a fan of Chinese takeout style food, but we’d totally come back here if the BF was being lazy again and want a quick and cheap meal.

I always get the beef scrambled eggs over rice. Pretty bomb and pretty cheap. They give you a lot for just under six dollars… I think the prices went up since I first started going there. Sometimes I think the lady at the front just makes prices up… its scary. I wish we were friends so she could hook me up. Haha. Funny story: one time I called the number from my dorm at SFSU to ask if they delivered, which they don’t to SFSU, and whoever answered hella tried to tell me it was the wrong number. Then the next day I try again, and they answer saying that it’s Mr. Chan’s! No need to lie if you don’t wanna talk! Haha. Dang…
