I’m Asian and having lived in Asia and then for the last 10 years in Rockville/Gaithersburg — I am thrilled to have found this place hidden in the corner of Damascus. This place serves traditional Sichuan cuisine from the Chengdu region and having tried all the Sichuan restaurants in this area, I have to say that this one is my favorite. It’s a simple but pleasant place –the best prices and great service. Order from the last page of the menu(under traditional favorites) and you will be good. We had chengdu chicken, their signature, and were blown away by the rich flavor of the peppercorns. We also ordered the Sichuan fish fillets which was served in a light white sauce and vegetable spiced again with peppercorns — 3 thumbs up. We are sitting her again right now waiting for our Mapo tofu and dry pot mushrooms — can’t wait! It’s a bit off the beaten track and hard to find(it’s behind the kfc Taco Bell) in a strip mall. At the end of the excursion; i think that you will agree it was very with the drive.

I love their food. Everything we have tried was great. Awesome service. But spicy does mean spicy!

Great authentic Sichuan style Chinese food! Less expensive than those restaurants in Rockville, but better taste. MSG level is relatively low.

Couldn’t believe my family found this legit Sichuan place in little old Damascus. IMO the best authentic Chinese in upper Montgomery County!!! Be sure to get the authentic menu rather than the American-Chinese one! Some of our favorites are crispy beef, Chengdu chicken, and bamboo shoots. The crispy beef is covered in a really sweet sauce and super crunchy too. It’s even perfect as a simple carryout order since it pairs so well with rice! Just a bit spicy. Chengdu chicken is one of the signature dishes and for a good reason too. The chicken pieces are fried in really hot oil, and when you bite into each piece the chicken is so juicy! A decent level of spicy, but there’s some sweetness on the fried outer layer as well. I love bamboo so I’m a bit biased on this last one but they have very tender and fresh bamboo shoots that are cooked very well(not oily or salty at all) and are my go-to when I’m tired of the spice. Staff is pleasant and attentive to our water/tea and rice bowl. I was surprised to see the manager of Peking Place, which closed down in Germantown, working here. I’m definitely a loyal customer!!!

My favorite Chinese restaurant in this area. The amount of food they give is rather satisfying. Nice and friendly service. Foods are awesome and fresh as always. Have to go there at least once every two weeks! I can never resist getting lured by the marvelous taste of Chengdu Diced Chicken with Peanuts especially.

High quality Chinese food in our little town — exciting! Please note, there are two menus to order from: the Chengdu menu and the American Chinese menu. I am reviewing items from the Chengdu menu. We decided to try some items based on the Unilocal photos and reviews, and we were not disappointed! The Chengdu spicy chicken was the perfect amount of spice, despite the appearance of So. Many. Chilis. in the dish. The chicken was crispy and moist at the same time. The standout for me was the cold spicy cucumber salad. Absolutely fresh and vibrant! We also ordered the scallion pancake, which to me was pretty average. All in all a delicious meal! My only wish for improvement is that the Chengdu menu would also have lunch specials. There’s no going back to «General Tsos» for me!

It’s this little Shop in the corner, the woman at the counter was kind and answered plenty of my questions. I would go again if it was on my way home.

Great authentic Sichuan style Chinese food! Wow. This was a totally unexpected find to have very authentic Chinese food in this little town. 10−15min from Clarksburg and so worth it. The«Chengdu fish«dish was REALLY good. Watch out for the huajiao and the red peppers and the spice is just right, not super spicy. The green onion pancake is homemade(it’s good) but I’ve also had better. The complimentary sweet and sour cabbage was SOOO good! Portion was very big so easily makes 2 meals for me.

Best Chinese food in the clarksburg area. So happy to have found this little gold nugget. Service can be a bit slow, but the lady was quite pleasant despite serving, taking orders and bagging take out orders all at the same time. I have had the general tso’s chicken which is very very good. Might be the best Ive ever had. I had the honey walnut shrimp which was very generously portioned. Large jumbo shrimp. Nice sweet creamy sauce. The Chengu chicken was amazing. Spicy and crispy on the outside. Juicy on the inside. Very well seasoned. The fried rice was meh. Pretty standard. Nothing to rave about. The spicy beef roll was also very tasty. Not to salty or greasy. The crab/cheese wontons were good, but I have hd better. I have had takeout and delivery and both were quick minutes. I think delivery is after 5 only, but well worth the wait. Check this place out.

Recently moved to Clarksburg and needed follow delivered. There aren’t a ton of options for delivery here but found Tasty 68 on Unilocal.Listened to other reviewers and gave it a try. Delivery was fast and the food was surprisingly good. Since that first delivery, I’ve been the the restaurant twice now. The service can be spotty at times. It’s just 2 really nice ladies doing their best to get everything done. I’ve taken my Singaporean parents and my parents in law here now and both enjoyed it. For the New Year, the ladies gave my 2 year old a red packet which was a great gesture. You’re not going to find 5 star service here but I’m okay with that, I’m here for the awesome food but the ladies are super nice. Ratings out of 5 Chengdu Spicy Chicken — 5 — My favorite dish from them. Fried chicken with a ton of chilis. It’s delicious and not as spicy as it sounds. Chengdu Fish Filet — 4 — Fish with tree ear mushrooms, bamboo, szechuan buds in a white sauce. Also filled with Chili and Szechuan buds. Mixed Mushrooms Stir Fry — 5– Mix of different mushrooms in a spicy sauce. Great dish with mushrooms and no fillers. Chengdu Hot Pot — 4 — This dish is numbing with Szechuan buds. I wasn’t in love with this dish but it was good. Lots of different things in deep red chili oil. Hunan Chicken — 4 — Yeah the regular Americanized Hunan Chicken but we’ll made. I wouldn’t come here for non authentic food but we did order one and it was good. Lamb with scallion and ginger — 3 — Meh. It was well made but the lamb doesn’t really taste like lamb. It was just ok. This place is a great find. I would really suggest stopping by and checking them out if you get a chance. Go for something different and not the usual Chinese food you find at Carry outs. You won’t be disappointed.

Loved it! The chengdu chicken and chengdu fish are a must. They are spicy and complex. My wife who does not care for spicy food enjoyed the fish that was not doused in the sauce. The kids and adults loved the chicken with cashews. How do they keep their sauce covered chicken so crunchy even after I brought it home in a to go container? We also loved the mushrooms and tofu. This place is a hidden gem. Damascus has been in major need of a really delicious Chinese place. It’s clear after eating this food that it is being prepared by a chef who understands nuanced flavor, texture, finish, an visual presentation. Welcome to Damascus Chef Xie! Please stay.

I ordered delivery and they were here super fast! The crab meat wontons were absolutely amazing and super creamy. The general tso’s chicken was huge chunks of meat and tasted amazing. I also liked the fact they gave an option of mild or spicy. I will be ordering from them again whenever I want Chinese

This is the best authentic Sichuan food I’ve ever tried around metro DC area. Beat Rockville restaurant for sure. Though it’s a little bit far but definitely worth the time. If you want to try some serious Chinese food, you will never ever want to miss this restaurant!

This is NOT authentic Chinese food. We ordered dried bean curd, eggplant, & crispy beef. I was very disappointed with the crispy beef. Crispy beef should be Crispy & dry; it shouldn’t have sauce. But when I saw the crispy beef, it’s was drenched in sauce! The dried bean curd & eggplant had WAY too much oil. This is my first & last time coming here.

Easily the best Sichuan style Chinese food in DMV area. I am from Chengdu and the chef used to work at Jinjiang Hotel in Chengdu. For people who doesnot know what Jinjiang Hotel is, US consulate in Chengdu started out as one room in this hotel in 1985. It has accomodated numerous world leaders throughout the years. Anyway, the Chef here is definitely a pro. The food matches or even exceeds the fame. We ordered a couple dishes off the authentic menu. They are simply outstanding. The recipes are well thought out and executed. I am in ecstasy that DC finally has a decent Sichuan style Chinese resturant on par with NYC and the west coast. I am sure the chef has the ability to expand the menu and achieve much more, given the opportunity. My words simply donot do justice to their excellent food. You gota come and try for yourself, if you are crazy about authentic Sichuan food like me. Anyway, I am so happy to find this place.

I drove all the way to Damascus because my friend told me this place offers authentic Sichuan food. The food is priced reasonable and tastes good in general. I am giving it a two star because I am not happy with the service. I went there for lunch one Sunday. When I got there, there was no light or air conditioner on. There was no server to serve us either. Somebody finally showed us after our asking for many times… I hope they provide better training to their servers… I went there twice with friends in 2 weeks in a row. To our surprise, the price increased. They did not even bother to reprint the menu, but cross off the old price and write the new one on top of it… I would have to say it does not seem to be run by professionals.

Sichuan cuisine is known for using hot red peppers along with the the signature«Sichuan pepper,» which has a distinct numbness in the mouth that complements the pungency of chili peppers. It’s very rare to find a chef in the area who uses the Sichuan pepper, much less use it in perfect harmony with spicy red peppers. Chef Xie’s signature dish is the Chengdu Fish– it’s a must-try. Soft, melt-in-your mouth fish fillets with a nice pungent kick followed by that subtle tingly numbness. There’s cabbage and bamboo shoots in there too, along with other familiar spices like ginger. My family also ordered a spicy chicken dish as well as a tofu-mushroom dish, both of which were excellent. Oh, and the Chinese«donuts» were yummy too! The dough reminded me of Beijing«youtiao.» It came with an interesting sauce that tasted like a twist between sweet&sour sauce and ketchup. Though Chinese restaurants often give me a stomachache afterwards from the exorbitant amounts of oil, salt, and MSG, this one didn’t :) This place is the most authentic Chinese restaurant I’ve been to in the DMV, especially for its great value. My compliments to the chef– he really has the skill and techniques to make his dishes sing. My only minor quips are 1) they served us Lipton tea with the meal, and as a bit of a tea snob, that was a downer, and 2) the location is in a pretty remote area of town.

I’m always happy to see Sichuan restaurants open up in the area and Tasty 68 is no exception to the rule. There’s no street presence whatsoever except for a small rectangular spot on a massive road sign. Go to the back corner of a nondescript shopping center behind a KFC. The food is perfectly spicy and they do not skimp on peppercorns and dried chili peppers. Their cold spicy cucumber dish separates itself from any other restaurant in this area by using black vinegar — and it works. This update in the typical cucumber dish ingredient list actually ends up making the cucumbers sweeter and adds another layer of flavor to what could be a bland and boring dish. For people who can’t stand to wait for their main dishes to come, it’s a perfect appetizer because it’ll come to your table pretty much instantaneously. As for the mains, the Crispy Chicken and pretty much any Fish Fillet dish will be my mainstays. I’m not a fan of their Lipton tea bags, and service is still a bit slow since they just opened and have limited staff, but I’ll be happy to see this restaurant succeed in this area and gain a loyal following.

This is my second time here since Chef Xie took over this restaurant. Our group had the Chengdu Hot Pot, Cumin beef, and Chengdu Diced Chicken. They were so good and spicy. I think my lips got numb at some point. We almost want to pack the leftover sauce from the hot pot. It was that good. We also got a non-spicy dish: Seafood Delight, also very well cooked by the chef. The shrimp and squid were do tender and yummy. The snow peas were cooked to perfection, still crispy. We also ordered my favorite dish again-the fish in fiery sauce-so yummy!
