The Wee Loft

I have been going into this toy store for almost 20 years and every time I go in there I can’t believe how rude the owner and today, her employee are. It’s uncomfortable to say the least. Looking for Kendama’s that aren’t easy to find except online, of course she has them and the one my son wanted. You lost a sale because your employee was so incredibly rude, like she was doing us a favor by working there. I will spread the word. Only took me 20 years, i guess I’m the one to blame.

They have a wide variety of toys. My 2 year old daughter loves it here. They were very helpful and gift warpped a toy for me. Very pleased and will give them my business again.

It’s awkward to be stopped at the entrance of your store and told that «juice» isn’t allowed. I was holding Jamba Juice and I’m an adult. Just awkward. A tactfully placed sign at the door would have saved me the uncomfortable situation your condescending tone put me in.

I have been shopping at The Wee Loft for over 10 years and even though I may be able to find some items on line for a little less money, the customer service in all areas is of great value! I always have Annette select a few choices for each child and every time, all the gifts are ALWAYS a big hit with all! I have never had any issues with any item that I have purchased, however if I did, I am confident that they will be very fair. More than not they have unique items that you will have a hard time finding elsewhere. It always feels so good to give gifts that will be so well received and enjoyed! Plus, many of the items they carry provide fun learning opportunities for children, which adds even more value to any item purchased at The Wee Loft. I can’t imagine ever shopping elsewhere!!!

DO NOT SHOP HERE! We purchased a Plasma car two months ago. My 2 year old daughter tried it out and did not like it, so we returned it the very same day. We received a store credit, which we believe was fair, due to the slight use on the wheels. Now, two months later we returned to the store to buy more toys using the store credit. The owner (who obviously does not care about her business success) made very rude remarks and handed us back the Plasma car, rescinding the store credit.
At first we were happy to have a neighborhood toy store in the area (even if very pricey) so we can buy toys in the next few years to come. We figured we’d rather spend a few bucks more to support the local business. However, after being treated disrespectful and seeing how unethical this person conducts her business, not honoring her store credit, we will rather drive to Toys R Us or order on Amazon. We have many friends with little children, and we will recommend to all of them to stay away.

What a cute store and a fantastic find! There are such few independent toy stores anymore. The owner was so sweet to my girls and they had unique toys. I am so happy to have a nice locally woman owned business that I can support.
I noticed that they have a second location in Corona Del Mar so I will have to tell all my friends in Newport about them too.

The owner at this store was rude and obviously unhappy about my child and my friend’s two children being in this store. A TOY STORE. Our children were NOT poorly behaved, out of control, not did they touch anything inappropriately. In fact, they stayed at the two toy tables designated as play areas (that the owner pointed out immediately upon our arrival) but the owner remained SO visibly tense that it really put a damper on our browsing. Items are incredibly overpriced and there are notes ALL over the store attempting to shame shoppers into supporting a «local business» rather than seeing something there and finding it cheaper online. Tacky. We purchased a couple of small items and were treated disdainfully. I believe in supporting small, locally owned businesses but NOT when they offer no value for doing so, not even good customer service!

If we lived closer, we would probably come here more often!
Pros:
— The staff is friendly and very helpful.
— Wide selection of educational toys. You won’t find Barbies, baby laptops, or much electronic toys here. However, you will find lots of musical instruments, arts and crafts supplies for kids, books, toys for pretend play, board games, dolls, and developmental toys.
— They have a train table! My daughter loved playing with it.
Cons:
— I think I spent more time looking for parking than time spent in the store (hence the –1 star).
Also, this place IS a little pricier than other toy stores (not by much though), but the quality and service is superior, and I don’t mind paying a little more to support independent small businesses. At least the staff here will pay attention to you and greet you. unlike the bigger toy stores (Toys R Us, I’m looking at you) where you basically have to track down an employee when you need help with anything.

Great store! If you want to support local… go here! Very unique, they help you find a gift and they wrap it.

This is the email I sent to The Wee Loft after being denied a return. I will no longer shop there. The store isn’t as unique as they might have you believe and the prices are way out of whack.
«My daughter receive a Melissa & Doug princess magnetic dress up toy for her birthday purchased from your store. We have a lot of this kind of thing so I wanted to exchange it. When we received it part of the sticker on the packaging was torn off. Not something I could control. None the less, I braved your crazy parking lot on the Saturday before Xmas and when I got there was denied a return due to the damage. Pretty disappointing to me and my 4 year old to say the least. After years of shopping at your store I’ll no longer do so. Most of what you have can be found elsewhere and most times for less. It’ too bad you couldn’t accommodate such a small problem. Now, rather than supporting a small, local business that doesn’t support me, I’ll do my shopping elsewhere. What a shame.»

If I could give a «0» I would for bad faith and bad customer service. The owner is horrid. She confronted me and all but accused me of doing something «sneaky» when I took a picture of a stuffed animal while shopping with a friend — the purpose was to forward the photo to a friend in the area so she could get it for her grandchild, as i told the owner! She was incredibly rude, and made me feel like a criminal. I wasn’t trying to comparison shop or photograph the tag to purchase online or anything, but to capture a cute toy before i forgot. Look at it as free marketing for her! She ruined my day and made me question why she is doing anything that involves the public and a joyful concept like childrens’ toys. I will NEVER set foot in the store again AND I will tell EVERYONE i know not to shop there — go to Toy Boat if you want high quality, creative toys and superior service and a long track record — they have multiple locations and i will be taking my business there.

Wonderful selection of unique toys, including European toys. You’ll find some Legos and Playmobil here in terms of the big brands. Everything is carefully selected. Free gift wrap too! The staff is friendly and great help in picking something out. Independently owned and local store.

How sad…
The two toys I bought at The Wee Loft last week turned out to be problematic. They are the Hohner Maracito and Cage Bell. Being a first time mother, I wash all of my baby’s toys on a daily basis, the cloth based toys get dumped in the washing machine, but the plastic, wood, and rubber toys get washed in the sink. After washing these 2 toys for 3 – 4 days, I started seeing a dirty brown liquid coming out of them when my boy shakes them. It looks to me like rusty water!
I called The Wee Loft about this and the person on the phone told me that I should try to dry them in the sun, then surface wipe them from now on. I honestly don’t think the liquid will dry out if it is deep inside the toy itself, furthermore it will probably get moldy. I asked her if she would take the toys back since there was no instructions stating these are surface wipe only, and she herself didn’t warn me not to wash these plastic toys. She said, no.
So I wasted a couple bucks on toys which I will no longer be able to use, and she got to keep her money, but she just lost a life long loyal customer…
Bummer.
P. S. I’ll also be sending a note to the manufacturer… It’s unreasonable not to be able to wash a plastic baby toy!

This IS the BEST TOY STORE around.
You will not find the overly– commercialized toys here.
No Power Rangers, Barbies, Dora stuff– just
GREAT toys and books without the Disney package
AND THEY GIFT WRAP– for free!
(for busy people looking for a kids birthday present– this place is dummy-​proof– buy it, they wrap it and they have cards right there)

Such a cute toy store! Why would anyone want to go to some big impersonal store to shop for toys when you can come here?! Yes, the prices are 2 or 3 dollars more, but it’s not outrageous and the people who work there are so nice and helpful! The best part is they will wrap your present for you if it is a gift! That alone saves me $$, enough to justify the 2 or 3 extra dollars I just spent. The staff is awesome and will go out of their way to help you find the perfect gift! The store is clean and well organized and they have a good mix of unique gifts and mainstream toys. Love it here!

I love it here, I can lose time just browsing it. This place is very cute and always stocked up with a little bit of everything. I scanned a couple of items to see how their pricing was, definitely found it cheaper online but if you factor in shipping it comes out to about the same price.
