The restaurant smells like urine and fabuloso mixed. Sorry we can’t come back due to the smell.

Good and authentic Mexican food. The cheese enchiladas were delicious. Friendly staff too.

The lunch was delicious not to spicy or plain, the portions were perfect. Left full and very happy. Lunch for 2 was $ 30.00 and included 2 sodas and a side of tortillas. The chicken flautas were crispy, stuffed with plenty of chicken. The beans were creamy and rice fluffy. We will be back again. RDG

My favorite Mexican spot in Danbury!!! I think I die and go to heaven every time I come here. Just tried el rancho, one of their combo’s and it was amazeballs. So yum! Already craving again

I’ve been here a number of times. It’s good authentic Latin America food at a reasonable price. It has a family atmosphere and friendly service. Not fancy but good.

Was in Danbury for a meeting at lunch time… craving tacos, I went to Unilocal, and found 4 stars not too far away. First impression when pulling up was that it was going to be great, because, like all really good Mexican restaurant, it wasn’t in the nicest section of town. I walked in and the waitress, all alone stared at me, as I stood there silent in the empty restaurant at noon, wondering why kids cartoons were on the TV over the bar. I asked«are you open?» She said«yes»…I said table for one please. No one else came in the whole time I was here, and I don’t know why… the tacos we’re amazing, especially the carnitas! The pico was right on, and the salsa’s were very good. The chip salsa could have been better, but over all, I was pleased. You definitely need to dress your taco before you eat it, or it will be super dry, but once dressed they were just what I was looking for.

This place has the best tacos and Mexican fare you will find in Connecticut. It is absolutely a no frills kind of place, but that’s okay because you’re going for the food! And you know it’s great when you’re the only English-speaking diners. It’s located in Danbury, which is not the greatest place in CT, but the food is totally worth the trip! Always ask for a side of guac… it’s life-changing! And the al pastor tacos are literally something only dreams are made of! Top notch food!

This is our go to mexican food place! We love the shrimp ceviche, cornitas, enchilada in rancheras sauce! Yumm! The flan is the best!!! Must try!

Good classic Mexican food. I would give it 3.5 stars if I could. The venue is no frills and the neighborhood leaves much desired, but the food makes up for these aspects. I think that the food here is better than pancho’s tacos.

It’s a fun place with good food. They have a full bar and music. The staff is cool and the beer cold.

This is my go-to Mexican restaurant in the Greater Danbury area. Their food is fresh and staff is pleasant. The only thing I have ever been let down by are the chili rellenos, they just weren’t what I am used to but otherwise the menu is extensive and everything is wonderful. I even love the tacky décor. I’ve gone both for lunch and dinner always had tables open as well as people seated. It’s one of those gems in the wall.

Just moved out here for the summer. Born and raised on the left coast… Cali bred… We close to the border people… escuchame! i must have carne asada tacos at least once a week… Been searchin for a new taco spot for about a week finally found my new place. Lady servers are very nice and place is authentic taqueria style. Been to panchos like three blocks away close to campus and this place rancheros is more legit. Panchos gave me a carne asada plate that cud be served at like a chilis restaurant so no bueno… i cud have went to chilis i wanted more… Being from LA i got street cred on how i like the carne asada marinated and cooked like a true mexican style family cook… Rancheros got it going on. I give it three stars because food was prompt… carne was good(not as good as LA) but its the best so far i’ve had here in the northeast. The tamales that I’m used to come with the corn tusk on them but here they just serve em on the plato. The chips and salsa are solid and the cheese quesadilla was great. Wish the carne asada in the northeast was more marinated or something being further from the border I guess. Que te vaya bien. The search continues.

My 2nd time here. First I have to say that the waitress was not overly thrilled when I did not want to sit in the dining room with my fellow white breads. I wanted to sit in the bar area with the home slices, watch Univision, and listen to the Mexi tunes belting out of the juke box. I received plenty of odd looks by the local crowd! Now for the food, have I had better(yes), more authentic(yes), but yo, I’m in freakin CT! No mamacita’s out in the snow banks mashing the masa. So if you have a jones for straight up divey mexican food and you find yourself on I-84, then check out Ranchero. If you come at dark just keep an eye on the strays hanging in front of the liquor store next door. And next time I’ll go down White Street and explore Pancho’s Tacos. Danbury goes funky, looks like the white cracker 1960’s are over in this town! Haha.

Excellent service and fantastic food. Some things worth eating are the flautas, tostadas, barbecued goat tacos, and tres leches cakes. The chips and salsa are also quite good, particularly if you like cilantro. One of the better Mexican restaurants around here(and there’s plenty of competition).

We returned from Costa Rica recently with a keen eye for authenticity. This restaurant has the vibe down pat. Their guacamole is highly recommended. Their café con leche — less so. Either way, from batidos(fruit shakes) to entrees(arroz con pollo) they have the right mix of atmosphere and authentic dishes.
