Save yourself and don’t go to the dinner hours that begins at 5pm unless the server alyssa is there because she is the only one who knows what she’s doing and the only one who will get your order right but unfortunately doesn’t work every night whereas the other server heather is the worst, she takes her sweet time, doesn’t come check on you, my order is always fucked up when placed with her and she could care less! A few months ago I waited 20mins to get my check, had to get up go to the back to ask for a box and ask for the check and waited again for her and nothing and had to have another waitress process my bill and when I left I saw her outside by the driveway laughing and talking on the phone, wow! But this isn’t the first time Everytime I go for dinner nothing but horrible service from heather. She always messes my orders. Please if you go in for dinner make sure she isn’t your waitress. But I highly recommend lunch hours from 11:30−3pm because they know what they’re doing and good service. Today is 6÷27÷16 went in on the 23rd thinking the good waitress would be there that day but wasn’t had heather and left waitress no tip because horrible service but she decided to tip herself $ 5 from my credit card without my acknowledgement or permission. Had to report it to the police. I warn people who go in to be careful with this waitress. I should of left as soon as I saw it was just her but I was so hungry and was 8pm and really didn’t want fast food. I learned my lesson and done with this place.

I just happened upon this little gem because It gave me the hipster /Williamsburg vibe but the food was surprisingly amazing! With excellence veggie options. the service was a lil slow but the waitress still did an excellent job. Think I found my go to spot. we live in Mahopac but the drive to Danbury for this treat is definitely worth it

I love their chicken sesame salad. only complaint is sometimes they drown the salad in dressing! I love their hummus, chicken kabob! On nights I don’t want to cook I order 2 large(1with chicken, we will split) salad and a hummus with their delicious pita bread and it cost us about $ 33 little pricey for salad but they are good! Please bottle your dressing!

I live close to this restaurant and have gone back a few times. Each time I’m a bit less thrilled than before. Overall, I want to keep supporting this restaurant. Danbury is full of chain restaurants that have little character and are bland and uninteresting(Cheesecake Factory, Chipotle, Panera, Brio, Red Lobster, Olive Garden… etc). This is a family run business that is cute and eclectic. For that reason, I go back, but I find that Bethel has restaurants that are just as good, if not better, and have MUCH better service. What I liked: the flavors in the Shrimp P&B were great. loved the pasta primavera, love getting the ½ and ½ with good amount of pita bread. What I didn’t like: The Service. Over the past few times we have been there(even on nights they are 100% empty), the service is horrible. I don’t know where the waitresses go, but it takes a while to get a re-fill, food comes out SLOW. Also, there are *very few* items on the menu that are not fried or slathered in butter. Yes, they are delicious when sauteed in butter, but that is not good to eat all the time. Glad they have such an extensive menu but they need more staff to help get the food out quicker and make some healthier options. Also, not a huge fan of the dusty feel. Seems like things have changed recently — a bit dustier, messier, slower, food not cooked as well and they ran out of black tea(seriously? how do you run out of standard black tea…2x??). I will go again, on a day I’m with people who won’t mind the butter. I wish there was a healthier option other than the salad so I could come and get non-fatty stuff. Love that area of town and the quirkiness of the restaurant though. I hope they aren’t burnt out and this is the end of an era.

My first experience with Sesame Seed was take-out for lunch during the week. A few coworker’s were telling me I would like it since it has healthy options. I’m a meat and veggie girl. I called prior to picking up and two lunch orders were ready within my short drive there. The outside of the restaurant is very unassuming and quaint. Our orders were kafta, lamb kebab, hummus, and baba ganouj. I had the lamb and baba ganouj since I have a digestive aversion to hummus. It was SOGOOD. Seriously I could have eaten it with a spoon all day. Fortunately the order came with a huge bag of pita. My lamb kebab was tasty and I really enjoyed the grilled veggies. Wish there was more lamb, but it was a good portion of meat& veggie for $ 8 or whatever it was. 4 stars for food, promptness, and friendly staff. I knocked off one star because the pita and salad were ‘meh’. I can’t attest to the actual restaurant, but was pleased with take away lunch.

Food is good but the place has so many old antiques it has a weird stench to it. If they changed the design and look of the place and got rid of the weird smells I would have given 4 stars.

Food was very good and for a Saturday night, the wait wasn’t bad at all. The restaurant is in a house that is more than 100 years old and very quaint. The staff seemed a little harried and one table was upset they didn’t get their food. As for us, the salad with feta was delicious. The hummus was tasty. Skip the babaganoush, it was bland. The chicken shawarma was so flavorful it melt on my tongue. Looking forward to going back and trying their other offerings.

Cute place, I was hoping for more. The menu did not have as many Mediterranean dishes as I would have expected. In fact all the specials sounded more Italian than anything. The chicken shawarma was decent as was the lamb kebab with grilled veggies. I was not a fan of the salad dressing which may have been nothing more than vinegar; same for the tahini sauce, it was thin and very acidic. My tongue was killing me when we left. Now that I think of it I should have had the option of brown rice or salad but was not asked. The pita(?) bread served when we sat down was cold and tasteless and needed something to dip in… But not that tahini! Not sure if I would return, might have to have be talked into it.

I went here for dinner. I ordered the Ike and Tina tuna. It was delicious, spicy and flavorful. Their hummus and pita is good too as is the falafel. My friend had glazed salmon with artichoke hearts, that was slamming too. The juice was even good. The ambiance is hip and bohemian, as is the menu and the wait staff. Good food, if the portions were bigger I’d give it five stars.

I’m usually not too concerned with atmosphere of a restaurant but this place is so unique and has so many interesting things to look at while you are dining. Their hummus and baba ganoush are very fresh and flavorful and worth ordering every time. I usually get the sesame seed salad with extra feta cheese, because I am usually so full and happy from the hummus appetizer. I have tried a few other dishes here as well, such as the falafel and the kibbee and both are spiced nicely and are quite excellent.

I only give three stars because the food is excellent! I will not fault the cooks for the problems given to me by front of house staff. On my last visit, a Saturday evening, the service was terrible. We felt like we were being rushed through our meal. A server rolled their eyes at us when we requested to see a wine list. Our wine didn’t come out until we reminded our server that we had ordered wine, after she had brought us our meals. In all that time we watched a group of three staff members standing around talking. After our meal we were asked if we would like to see a dessert menu, we said yes, and were given our bill instead. We put the cost of the meal on a card, and tipped in cash. The next day when we saw our bank statement, we were charged more than what we had signed for. When we tried to reach the manager to resolve this problem he was never at the restaurant, and never returned our call when we left a number. If you go, enjoy the food. I would bring cash. I’ve enjoyed your food, Sesame Seed, but you will not receive another dime of my money.

Terrific place to eat or pick-up. Large salad, with grilled chicken, and a large hummus. Simple but great dressing and the best hummus I have ever ate. Most of the other food is just as tasty. Try it.

I’ll happily give 4 stars for the best Mediterranean food in town. They have all of the staples from the Mediterranean, slightly Americanized. Also, if you like antiques, this a nice spot for you. Every inch of wall is covered with pictures and things to look at. Enjoy!

Sesame seed gives me that warm fuzzy feeling inside. It’s the place I miss when i’m away too long. It’s humble, eclectic, a little bit weird and even on it’s «bad days,» made with love. I’ve been coming here since I went with my mom and her friends on a luncheon. I was totally creeped out by the Twilight Zone dolls and antique games(I’m sure I’m not alone). I haven’t stopped coming back since, nor do I ever plan to. The food is divine. everything. I am boring and usually order a «Ses» Salad with grilled chicken but it’s only because i’m more of a rabbit and it’s just that good. It doesn’t mean I don’t love the Mahi Marenga, Shrimp p&b. Scallops Primavera(minus the pasta, sub rice), tabouli, halfandhalf, lunch burrito, stuffed acorn squash. They are all too many great choices to make. To me, there is no Sesame without Heather(dreadlocks, great smile… you’ll know who she is). She is warm and you can tell she cares. Even if she is taking my take-out order she makes every meal from there made for me, with love. Thank you Ses! I appreciate you.

Nice little hidden gem with great food! It can be busy at times and they never seem to have much wait staff but it’s great to go with good company while you wait and the food is worth the wait. You can also order to go. Always start with the hummus its creamy and delicious! Every time I go I switch it up when it comes to my entrée and everything is good! Check this place out!

This is terrific place. The restaurant is a renovated historic farm-style house that has delicious food(highly recommend the pesto chicken sandwich) and great prices! I’m just passing through this part of the country and if in the area again, will make it a point to stop back in.

I really think that the kookier the décor is in a restaurant, the better the food. .. and the décor is definitely kooky! ;) Last week I came in out of curiosity, though I wasn’t too hungry, and tried the hummus & baba ganoush plate with pita, plus the spinach-stuffed mushrooms special. Both were fabulous! I could live off the baba ganoush, and there was so much on the plate and to many pita chips that I took home a bag full! Definitely would like to come here again with a larger appetite to try out some of their larger plates, which all sound amazing.

This place is amazing & healthy. Great food, great atmosphere, great service! The inside is filled with memorable games, pictures, and antiques everywhere you look. This Middle Eastern restaurant has a wide variety of dishes on the menu. Great salads too!

This small staff operation can not be faulted for the long waits between seating and ordering. The dining room is a one waitress show. This is an epic task. Since there is limited seating and the low price points I doubt this place could support a much larger staff. It doesn’t seem to slow down business because for a Monday at 8:00pm they are nearly at 50% capacity. Once I ordered my «half and Half» humus babaganoush came out fast and with a huge amount of pita. It was very good definitely scratch made. I ordered the falafel appetizer as well which came withy entrée the meat combo with Kafka and Kibee which were both excellent. The falafel was flavorful and crunchy. All were not bad scratch made with fresh herbs and ingredients. The salad was beautiful and ample. If you can deal with the wait and the some what shabby surroundings this place is a good find especially for the price. FoodDude!
