I was out of town and just wanted something reasonably prices and fast. It was about 7:30 on a Monday evening. The food was obviously out for a while — not a high volume night — so I picked a few things out that didn’t look too bad and sat down. While I was eating I noticed the owner take a pitcher of water and literally pour it over some of the food. I couldn’t believe it! Maybe this is their idea of not letting things dry out. All the workers sat down with plates and bowls of something they made from the kitchen and ate while I did. Even they won’t eat what they are selling! I was shocked to get my bill. $ 12.95PLUS they charged me for my coke. $ 16 for one person to eat old Chinese food — won’t do that again.

This place is horrible. I will not longer try another Chinese buffet, I will only go to king buffet in the peekskill/cortlandt/Yorktown area.

Probably the best chinese buffet I have ever been to. Very large selection to choose from. Sushi rolls were very fresh. We came on a Saturday and they had tons of seafood options. Desert options were certainly better than other buffets around. They have a huge case of REAL ice cream in many different flavors. Will definitely be back

The food wasn’t that bad, but our stomachs feel so bloated, as if an alien is about to rip through. This is definately proof that there was way too MSG in this food. I thought people in the United states stopped cooking chinese food with MSG years ago, but obviously not. The pepper lobster appeared dry, and nothing like it shoud. The fried rice was ok, but at some point a little stale.

I had the worst experience at this restaurant today. I was eating my food and the waiter came up to me and told me to stop eating because I was eating«dinner food» when I had paid for«lunch food». First of all, I had not«paid» for anything yet, and second of all, it’s a buffet, how is it that food is restricted. I understand that there’s a price difference between lunch and dinner but to tell me to stop eating because I had not paid for the food is ridiculous. The manager was even worse, she was extremely rude and kept insisting that the waiter did not tell me to stop eating my food. I felt extremely disrespected. I will never come back to this establishment.

Terrific lunch stop when traveling I-84(about 1 mile from I-84). Very wide range of Chinese dishes, plus sushi and custom-cooked Mongolian grill, all at an insane price($ 8.25 weekdays!). Price goes to $ 13+ on Sundays, but the offerings expand accordingly. Mongolian grill was carefully done and delicious. Many fresh seafood dishes, and some fine, uncommon veggies(Chinese broccoli, or gai-lan cai). A fair assortment of dim sum and five(!) different soups. Most of this is very good, with distinctly different tastes in each dish. Some of it, though, is extremely odd(deep-fried sushi??). There is so much choice that it’s hard to go wrong.

I love this place. I dream about their food. I used to come here frequently when I lived in the area. I made apoint of hitting them up again when I was back visiting. It hasn’t changed! It’s great food for chinese-buffet. Definitely my preferred«fast food» option. Huge variety, tons of steam trays and buffet tables to pick from. Everything I have tried here is awesome. My favorites are the sweet and sour chicken(with fried rice). The chicken is white meat, it’s battered properly and they don’t overfry it. It stays moist and has good flavor. Also I love their sweet and sour sauce — doing it right. They also do good BBQ pork and just about everything else. Trust me, whatever you want, they have it. Oh yeah, and if you want something really authentic thats not on the buffet or menu, ask. They will make it for you and they actually love it when they get to show off for someone that knows what real Chinese food is. Ask them for a special or a recommendation along those lines, they will be happy to oblige. To go: Get your box, load it up, bring it to the front and have them weigh it. Eating in: Get a table, order drinks, grab a plate and have at it! I live in California now and there is an abundance of real/authentic Chinese food around and I still find myself craving this place. This is quite possibly the best that a buffet style Chinese food establishment can be. I will be back, you can count on it!

We have been coming to Union Buffet as long as I can remember. The food is always good. My husband loves the sushi and hot and sour soup. Sushi is made fresh there. Different varieties for weekdays lunch or weekends dinner. These are photos taken on Thursday dinner. You can see the oysters, clams, cocktail shrimps and mussels on a bed of ice. I love the breaded shrimps with salt and pepper and fried jalapeño. This is a must try. They are crunchy and tasty, really good. You can find assortments of fresh fruits, salad, cocktail sauce and pudding on the right counter from the entrance

Not a bad buffet. Was inexpensive and I didn’t get sick from it. Selection was ok.

Large Chinese buffet with all the good stuff, plus some nontraditional dishes like fried plantains. I ate so much I felt sick, but in a good way.

Mostly Chinese food in buffet form in a casual diner-like setting. May also have some Brazilian and North American food, at times. Nothing special, but still decent & — imho — reasonably priced.

I’m not normally a chinese buffet type of guy. To be honest, the whole thought of it kinda grosses me out. alot. When I was younger I used to love going to chinese buffets. I could eat as much as I wanted and have things like the lo mein, pizza, orange chicken, french fries, and chicken chow fun all next to each other. It was also a big dinner out for my family. But thats neither here nor there. So, as far as the décor of the joint, it is exactly like every single chinese buffet I have ever been to. I don’t think people really come to these places though for décor, so we dont need to discuss that. Its about the food. Some of the things were good, the mongolian station was good, the california sushi rolls were OK, the ice cream freezer was a fantastic idea. The cheese balls and chinese donuts were good. The other stuff, not so much. Also, as someone else said I dont think they do a good job keeping the food hot/fresh. I don’t know much about the danbury chinese food scene, so I can’t really compare. If you have a strong stomach and want to be a brave soldier, give the UB a try. If not, there is a chilis down the road that probably has some better options for cheap grub(albeit, chilis isnt all you can eat… but ahh, imagine if it was!)

Pretty good variety, the price is very reasonable, and the food isn’t bad. Sushi is part of the buffet, too. Unfortunately, I would have to describe the buffet as uninspired. I think I’m a bit spoiled by Emperor’s Palace in Chesterfield, MO. But if you’re interested in passable Chinese food and plenty of it, Union Buffet will be a good choice.

Oriental buffet. Quite a large selection of different food items. Most are not kept warm because the steam tables do not seem to do the job. Oftentimes different selections are not available although the tray is there and labelled. I have been told that when they get busy they do a better job of keeping food fresh and warm. After a couple of visits here we don’t go back.
