A pleasant surprise. Looking for something different in the area and landed at Taste of Dandridge. Super casual environment with healthy portions of good southern food. We had the ribs, the fried shrimp and a hamburger steak(built for two). Everything we tried was tasty. The ribs were meaty, super tender and delicious with house made bbq sauces. Both the shrimp and hamburger steak were hits, too. You may need help finishing the hamburger steak. Huge. We also tried the pork stuffed mushrooms. An interesting pairing, not what we expected. I’ll say the pork was good and would make a great sandwich or entrée. We’ll be back!

Great little place for lunch. I had the catfish sandwitch and my wife had grilled shrimp. Good Homestyle atmosphere. Very good service. Food was very good. Reasonable prices.

We always check Unilocal when we travel and found this local place with great reviews. The service was great. The soup and salad were average at best. The teriyaki grilled chicken was delicious as well as the sweet potato chips. No alcohol. BYOB. Average place. Good cheap meal. $ 28 with tax!

Why have I not eaten here before today!!! Food is fresh and delicious! Fried pickle spears with homemade ranch dressing… yum! Their French onion soup is amazing! I had the pulled pork and a baked potato. Delicious!!! Will definitely eat here again! Staff were friendly and our waitress was very attentive and nice.

We tried something new tonight, on our trip. Pulling into the packed parking lot, I knew it would be good. The wood smoked bbq fired the air. I ordered it. Though slightly dry, once I added BBQ sauce, out was perfect. Quaint atmosphere and family friendly. We’ll be back.

This spot was recommended by the front desk at my hotel, and it is apparently a local hot spot– the parking lot was overflowing on a Tuesday evening near closing time. I ordered a 6 oz. filet mignonette, which arrived perfectly done and very tasty. It came with a baked potato and was preceded by French onion soup, a crisp green salad with chunky blue cheese dressing, and a soft roll. The meal was good; service was great; and prices were reasonable. There were a couple of odd things: The first is whipped spread rather than real butter. I guess there are people who eat that on purpose, but for me, it seriously detracts from the enjoyment of the fluffy baked potato and soft roll. The second is that the only beverages offered were tea and soft drinks. The interior is wood with what I assume to be local art. It’s an interesting look at local culture.

We were so excited to eat here after reading the reviews. It was closed. Don’t know if permanent or not! Saturday night. Disappointed.

We were passing through Dandrige at dinner time and needed to stop for dinner, being« Unilocalers», we looked at the choices in the area… Since we love to try local restaurants, we decided to eat here! Their specialty is french onion soup and ribs… 5 stars for the ribs!!! They were amazing!!! Delicious and incredibly tender! The meat literally just fell off the bones! It’s also served with a little tub of honey which we poured over the ribs to slightly sweeten them! JUSTDELICIOUS!!! However sad to say the onion soup was NOTGOOD!(1 star) processed cheese was used and it to me it tasted like dish water! The side salad was your generic out of a bag salad mix… Sorry ! However with the delicious ribs, we had the sweet potato chips which were sweet and crispy which were great. The service was friendly, prompt and efficient ! So… 4 stars

We were driving trying to find a good place for dinner when we found this wonderful establishment. The service was friendly and timed perfectly. The courses came after the one before was finished, which kept the table from being overloaded with dishes and food. Food was delicious. First place I’ve ever seen that offered fried cauliflower which I highly recommend. The BBQ chicken was wonderful with the mild sauce and the ribeye my husband ordered was cooked and flavored just right. The banana pudding was delicious and everything was homemade. The décor has a country feel. And the atmosphere is friendly.

So good!!! Was in the area for work and the place came recommended by multiple hotel staff. My colleague and I both had the fried catfish — delicious and HUGE portions for very cheap. The cream style corn was average, but the fried okra was good and the hush puppies were phenomenal. I would highly recommend you stop here if you’re in the area, it’s only downside is it’s 8pm closing time.

Love this place! The BBQ is always great and their prices are cheap. You can get a To-go order of BBQ for 4. Includes buns and 2 sides for on $ 20. A lot of food for $ 20. They can be super busy at lunch so it can be slow but well worth the wait. Try the catfish plate. Enough food for 2!

Normally I don’t review after one meal, but I’m going to give this place my tourist exception as it’s along I-40. I found this restaurant very interesting. It’s «behind» the Pilot, and very close to the highway, so a decent choice while traveling through. The building is very plain outside and inside. Service was decent when we sat down, but the place filled up quick and I could tell they were a little short by the time we left. The food is what’s interesting. It was«old school». You get soup AND salad with each entrée. The soup came with crackers, that’s normal, but the basket had the old school bread sticks in it. The salad was served in a shaped metal bowl I haven’t seen at a restaurant in 20 years. That said, everything was well prepared, and I believe fresh home made. My only minor complaint is that every dish was nearly devoid of salt. This may be a nod to the clientele, most of the people in the restaurant were part of the retirement set. For most items a little salt on the table fixed the problem, although there are a few dishes where that might not do the trick. If you’re looking for something other than fast food, give this place a try. Just make sure you use the salt shaker on the table.

My dad recommended this place while we were visiting them in TN. We met up here for dinner. I ordered the pulled pork and it was phenomenal. The only critique I would have is that the sweet tea is too sweet. I also tried the ribs and were not disappointed here either. This place knows BBQ. I was even feeling under the weather and still managed to enjoy my food.

Why eat at a chain, when you can dine here, and watch how kind everyone is to each other? The good mood of nearby customers wears off on me, and I start to see the best of people. The food is American & Southern fare. The soups are very good, with the French Onion being my favorite. The broccoli side dish is cooked perfectly, so I look forward to eating my vegetables. You can BYOB(or wine or liquor.) The prime rib night(Thursdays) has a slightly different crowd, but is a great deal. Prime Rib, Side, Soup & Salad. If you like spicier creamy horseradish, they will bring you extra straight horseradish to add. I think they just celebrated two years in business. It must be a good two years. Since they have an extra gravel parking lot to accommodate us all! Mexican Fiesta: Tuesdays & Wednesday nights. Prime Rib: Thursday nights(it is really good!)
