If you like the divey homely feeling this is the place. Not the best atmosphere or décor but if you want a home cooked type meal this us the place. Hamburger steak with gravy and onions, for my sides I picked deviled eggs and fried squash. I know, an odd combination but it sounded good at the time. The deviled eggs had a little too much relish but hat is my preference. The hamburger steak and fried squash were good. Nice portions and a reasonable price.

I went here with a group of 6 folks for lunch, and it was O. K, good, and not so good. I love mom and pop eateries and greasy spoon places, and this one has potential but isn’t there yet. From what I gather, Nikki’s place excels in some areas of the menu while not much in others. The biscuits: delicious! They are made from scratch, as are all the gravies, cornbread, and french fries. Other folks at the table thoroughly enjoyed their corned beef, cheesesteaks, and burger. The fries were flavorful and a little soft, if that’s your thing. The hash browns looked incredible: shaved thin and cooked until crunchy but not burnt. They serve all parts of their menu all the time. Some times, you just want pancakes for dinner or a burger for breakfast! I love having that ability. Another good point: the prices. Very reasonable. I also had pickled beets, fried okra, and pinto beans. The beets were decent but could benefit from more vinegar. The fried okra was over fried. I got a look at their fryer while waiting in line to pay and it looked quite nasty… when was that oil changed last? The pinto beans were also decent once I added salt. That being said, I ate all of it… just was nothing special. They have a routine day of the week special and 1 daily special. The day of the week special(meatloaf monday, chicken liver wednesday, salmon cake thursday, spaghetti friday, catfish saturday, fried chicken sunday. Can’t recall tueaday). I suspect that these dishes are all quite tasty, but someone else will have to comment on that. The service today was rather ‘meh’. The wait staff were timely, but the food took ages. The place was full but not packed and I have a feeling it’s routine for them to be full. I heard a different waitress telling a different table that there were a lot of to go orders so it would be a while. Noone cared to mention this detail to us. I noticed the kitchen staff and waitresses were a bit frazzled and disorganized, confusing a few orders. There was only one minor mistake at our table(someone didn’t get their tomato in their sandwich). Another thing I wasn’t thrilled about– ordering water and being brought the bottled variety, only later to see a waitress walking around with a pitcher of water. Why not ask the customer which they’d prefer, and not automatically give them the option that costs money? I refused mine(anti plastic snob here) and the waitress didn’t offer the alternative from the tap. Given I have only been here once and it wasn’t during a slow time(do those exist?), take this review with a grain of salt. If I were to be in the area again, I would be willing to order different items as I tend to give places the benefit of the doubt. Part of me wants to say ‘it is what it is: a southern diner with low prices” but… like i said, there are some things they could easily improve on to shift my perception from«meh» to «good stuff!»

Oh hell yeah! This place has the stuff! Great food, great service, great prices! We were on our way home fromWV and stopped for supper. The first thing you notice about Nukki’s is it’s all red white and blue! I like that. You also notice right away how clean the place is. It’s not fancy, but it’s spotless clean. Appetizer — Onion rings. Perfection. Those onion rings are hand cut and battered and beautiful. Supper — My guy had his veggie omelette, which was gorgeous and lit his eyes up. He got their biscuit to go with it, and that biscuit is old fashioned homemade and as big as a baseball. I had a happy man on my hands, I like that. I had a bacon cheeseburger and fries, and it was so big I was worried I wouldn’t be able to finish it(half pounder), but finish it I did, every last juicy bite. So my guy had a happy woman on his hands. He likes that. Service couldn’t have been friendlier and also was extremely efficient. I really can’t imagine a better diner experience. I think anytime we head out to Martinsville for a race, or up thataway towards WV, we will probably make time in our trip for Nikki’s. Love this place!

Great diner food! We live in Danville and have been going to a newer establishment. It seems like the newer diner copied Nikki’s menu, but with less variety. We will be coming to Nikki’s from now on!

I’ve travelled down to the Carolinas twice in the last month. The first time I hit Danville around breakfast time and found nicki’s and told myself that it looked like my kinda place. Boy was I right, the atmosphere was great, the food was wonderful and the waitress could not have been more attentive. The biscuits were the star of the meal, big and fluffy. I just wish I could get mine to turn out like that. And to top it all off they offer a 10% discount for military veterans. Needless to say when I had to go down south a week later and I had my youngest daughter with me I stopped in again. We were not disappointed. Like the old song says,“Second verse same as the first”. If I ever have to go through Danville again I will stop at Nikki’s.

I have been trying out new places to eat instead of hitting the supposedly fast, cheap and bland typical fast food joints, which usually are not fast nor cheap. I have found out lately you can get a good meal at a comparable cost in a reasonable time from local owned dinners. Nikki’s is one if those places. I had the Nikki special burger and fresh cut fires. The burger way has made and cooked perfectly with wonderful Juicy taste. The fresh cut fries were not that great, they were soft. soggy and bland. Service was great and very friendly. The place good have been a little cleaner and it only has one very small bathroom per sex which is very inconvenient having to wait for some one to finish for 20min before you can wash up. They also offer breakfast all day along with Howe cooked meals. Prices were very competitive for this are. I am giving this place 3 stars, the food and prices are worth 4 but I have to take some away for cleanliness and the bathroom issues. Defiantly will eat there agian and try out home cooked meals next time.

Sadly I have to give a two star rating to this local business. I went for Saturday breakfast around 7:45 a.m. First hint to me should have been the few customers in the place. The nicest thing I will say is the«Wall of Honor» with photos of local citizens that have served in the Armed Forces. Here are the reasons for the two star rating: The menu. I was handed some well used in store made menu. It looks like they went to a local office supply store and put it together a long time ago. The plastic sleeves that held the menus were warped and dirty. I didn’t want to handle it. I ordered the steak and eggs with grits and biscuit. The grits were instant grits — not cooked grits. The steak was«diner quality» but simply was flavorless and had in my opinion too much of a fatty rind. The scrambled eggs were ok, and the biscuit was served hot and fluffy. Sad to say the biscuit was the best item served. Not sure what other local breakfast places are in this area, but I certainly hope better choices are available.
