The food is great but the service is dismal. Don’t come hungry your going be waiting for a while. However the food will be good and that’s the only reason we come back.

Amazing sushi! They also have some nice bento choices. A younger family seems to be running the place currently. All though it has been in Danville for awhile. I’ve usual gone here for lunch and have enjoyed their vegetarian bento. There are choices so it easy to change things up. The garlic edamame amazing, a bit messy so ask for additional napkins, which are happily supplied. Recently tried their Golden State Roll and Mondrian. Both were excellent. The Mondrian is a smaller roll, but price reflects this. Everything is prepared fresh which can mean a wait, but not unreasonably so. Highly recommend this place.

Fantastic! We decided to go here tonight based on it being the second highest rated sushi restaurant in Danville on Unilocal. We walked in and had to stand there awkwardly for a while not knowing if it was a seat yourself type of place or if they were just understaffed. Turns out they were very busy and short staffed one person resulting in no one being at the entrance when we arrived. After we were seated the employees were very nice. You could see that they were all working way to many jobs individually for as little amount of staff that were working. They could definitely use some more employees to make the operation run more efficient. Now, to the food. The sushi was incredible! The flavors, freshness, and overall quality was top notch. I had a hard time picking what we wanted since they have so many yummy looking house created rolls and well known traditional rolls. They have a nice photo menu showcasing all their signature rolls, which there is a ton. I am already looking forward to my next time visiting. The price was great. A very affordable Japanese restaurant. Highly recommend!

The best Japanese restaurant in Danville! Tasty and reasonable price for good portion(i, e. 3 item bento for $ 16.95). Excellent roll selection. Tempura and donkatsu was good as well as Cali roll. Love the salad dressing. Beef teriyaki was OK as they used round steak instead of nice steak cut but for the price that’s OK. Service was excellent and attentive on busy Sun supper. Not sure about those who complain about slow service as hey sometimes it gets that way with as hard to find people.

Our new favorite sushi place in town and so excited since we were driving an hour to Stockton for sushi… still will but this place comes in a close second! Great variety of rolls and everything is FRESH! Friendly staff and quick service! Thank you for being in my backyard!

I’ve lived in Danville my whole life and always drove past this restaurant, but have never been in before. I’m so glad I finally came in! The service was amazing and the food was delicious!!! The restaurant is spacious and it even has a play place for kids to play. The menu had a variety of options– it was hard to figure out what to order because everything looked so good! I liked how they had pictures of the rolls with the description too. The rolls in person looked exactly the same like they did in the pictures — which was nice! Our waitress was attentive & friendly. She was always filling up our drinks and checking up on us. We ordered the tiger eye roll, baseball roll, and the Ashely roll. All of them were amazingly delicious! I will definitely come back and recommend this place.

We were at this place for family meeting. Very nice Christmas decorations and food is still very good. Actually food came out little late, but it is acceptable since many party arrives at same time. Another good and joyful experience.

We came in for dinner, arriving early to make sure and miss traffic. The place was deserted, but they still seated us next to the only other group in the place… and they were LOUD. Our order included an avocado roll, tuna tower, Hello Jallo roll, and asparagus roll. All of them were great… but the main issue was communication. The waitresses didn’t seem to understand our questions. We asked about the ingredients in the tuna tower, but the waitress’s response was«it’s good,» and a pointed stare that I guess was the signal that she wasn’t going to tell us anything else. We also asked that they leave the sauce off the Hello Jallo roll, but it arrived at our table drenched in sauce. Then, the asparagus roll arrived… and was so overlooked that it was incredibly bitter. I’ve never had an asparagus roll that badly done. It was SOUR. I couldn’t eat it. Our meal took a little more than an hour, but our drinks(water) weren’t refilled until ten minutes before we left. Two waitresses walked past our table two or three times each and never refilled them. We weren’t able to catch their attention until we were ready for the check! As a final cap to this visit, they refused to honor a $ 25 for $ 40 Groupon, due to the fine print stating that there had to be four or more people at our table. That was our mistake, but I wish they’d told us at the beginning of our visit instead of at the end! We had the phone laying out, the voucher on display, throughout the meal. They waited until we asked for the ticket to tell us we couldn’t use it. I handed the waitress my phone to show her the voucher, and without saying a word, she took it and proceeded to exaggeratedly tap the screen to show me the information I’d missed. She then told me to go ahead and buy another Groupon(the option for two people) to use for our meal… even though she couldn’t tell me if I’d be able to get this one refunded. We refused. We paid. We left. We won’t go back.

I went here to eat out for my older sister’s birthday! I first heard of it through Groupon, where it offered $ 25 for $ 40 of food. My initial thought when I walked in was that the environment was extremely loud and noisy since there was a group of little children and their mothers creating a ruckus in the middle of the room. On the side of the restaurant is a little play area for the children, which is a nice touch. The people at the birthday party were using noise makers and I think that the staff should have more noise control established considering that it deemed to be a negative point on my experience there. I couldn’t even focus on eating my own food! The food was mediocre. I ordered a fried fish and tempura bento($ 14 for two items) that came with a side salad, miso, and rice. The rice turned out to be extremely dry and the fish was very crispy. I was hoping for a little bit of flakiness from the fish but it was very hard and brittle. The tempura that came with it was undercooked! When I cut up the onion ring, a bunch of flour came out of it and ruined my palate. Seriously, how hard is it to cook an onion ring? Other than that, service was alright. I bumped it up a star for the groupon. The bathrooms are really dirty and need some maintenance but overall, the experience could’ve been better :///

Love love LOVE this place! If you are looking for a sushi place in the area to go to, COMEHERE!!! I firmly believe that the sole reason this place isn’t known for being THE best sushi place in this area is that the location isn’t all that obvious, so not many people that I have talked to know it’s there. The service is SUPER nice, helpful, kind, efficient. The food is GORGEOUS, and just as tasty as it is beautiful. Some truly beautiful artistry and care goes into a lot of their dishes. Also, they have a separate area for the kiddos if you want, so that parents can enjoy one another’s company while the rugrats enjoy a super cool little area to themselves to play in before/after the meal. The place has a nice atmosphere and is very clean as well. Also, if you were wondering, trying to find a sushi place around here, and happened to stumble upon this review, DON’T go to «Akira bistro»… They are rude, the food is «so-so» and they don’t like to honor the«deals» they offer.

Haven’t been here in a long and thought to give it a try. Service is friendly, and the dining area is open and nice… and clean. I had the chirashi and had a mixture of maguro, sake, snapper, white tuna and hamachi. The selection was good, but portions a rad on the small side. The meal came with miso soup and salad. The sushi rice was lightly flavored, just a bit light for my taste, but still okay. I’ll probably come, but it probably won’t be on my Go To places. One big plus is that they are open on Mondays when many Japanese restaurants are closed.

Solid sushi place in a relative quiet section of Danville, across the street from Growler off SRVB. The inside actually looks larger than the outside — very bright with two flatscreens, lots of colorful T-shirts with the restaurant logo, and even a kids’s play area. They have several menus — a paper copy with lots of rolls, and an electronic one on the flatscreen which cycles through the various rolls and a few things not on the menu along with prices. We ordered the following: * Nigiri Deluxe — Eight pieces of mixed nigiri, six real awesome CA rolls(soft and large, the type that disintegrates upon first bite), a spicy tuna hand roll, miso soup, and salad. Nigiri was fresh, and my only minor ding is their tako(octopus) a bit too chewy. * Skewers — The chicken one was incredibly juicy and had a nice sweet sauce. One of our favorite versions. The beef was okay, but was Korean-style sliced beef on a stick. *Face-Off Roll — Similar to CA roll, but with additional layer of spicy tuna and fried salmon skin. A bit on the richer side, but decent. Funny play on words with the name — an homage to that John Woo movie with Travolta and Cage perhaps? *Desserts were strange — the flatscreen showed some really tempting European style desserts, while the paper menu had traditional mochi, tempura ice cream, etc. The waitress brought us a tablet menu to make our selections. The mango panna cotta looked good but was frozen like a rock! Still tasted okay, but not what we expected. The Coppa Marscapone was also frozen, but tasted really good. It was like ice cream with a layer of fudge on the bottom and shaved chocolate and toasted coconut on top. Very good! Would definitely consider coming back since I think the place has great potential and some of their rolls look really creative. Their Rooster roll adds chicken to their sushi, while their Purple Snapper Roll combines snappers and blueberries.

Honestly, I am always so so confused at how underrated this place is, both in terms of Unilocal reviews and by word of mouth. It is honestly my absolute favorite, go-to sushi place in Danville — and it has been since I was in high school. Sushi Yokohama has some of the most friendly service ever. The sushi chefs behind the bar always great you when you arrive and say goodbye when you leave — both with a very cheerful, harmonious exuberance. I’ve never had a bad experience here. Comparatively, the sushi is decently priced. I think it is easily on par with Kanye sushi on Hartz and definitely much cheaper. On top of that, they always give you complimentary miso soup and edamame! Like, who could refuse? Definitely not me. My favorite rolls: The lion king, the 49er, the baked scallop, the crunchy rolls, etc. I have ordered take out as well as dined-in here a bajillion times. Its never been overly crowded nor have I ever had to wait. Honestly, this place is awesome. Go eat sushi here!

I was curious to try this place and more so I was pretty much done with the sushi spot that I used to go to then suddenly I started to think I need some change, I need to spice things up in my life, like a woman decided to change her hair style means she’s about to change her life! ;) Sure enough I could not wait to taste what I’ve planned to try, but first the place wasn’t hard to find, the staffs greeted me as they mean that my presence were acknowledged. Now that’s a plus! The service staffs were quick, good listener, precise and not to mention the food came to our table quickly enough before we knew it. I was surprised by the fresh taste of each rolls that I’ve ordered. Twister rolls Shrek Hamachi lovers must say Epic explosion in your Harigato! Update review: After coming here three, four times or pretty much our Saturday dinner treat. I’ve noticed the service difference. I felt like their prompt and good service went away. I thought I’ve found my sushi spot but neglecting the customers anticipation well that’s just about to of course not looking forward to the next one. I travelled all the way from a distance to get here even on a rainy night so at least don’t loose the genuine service. Thanks!
