I’m not sure how this place could get a whole lot better. Clean, friendly staff, great happy hour prices on booze, and reasonable prices for generous portions of delicious food. The choices for Chinese in the Quad Cities are limited, and this is probably one of the better ones. Don’t hesitate. The Honey Walnut shrimp is amazing. So much so that I haven’t yet been able to get anything else. I’ve picked off of some broccoli beef, and it was also very good.

The Red Lantern is one of the better general and(American) traditional Chinese I have been to. The food is fresh and tasty, and not overly burdened with oil and MSG. Prices are reasonable and are therefore a good value. Recommended.

Excellent Chinese food. Ready in 15 minutes for carry out. Seemed higher quality than other Chinese food. Will definitely eat here again.

Greeted at door w/a smile. Hostess was very welcoming. I liked the décor. Kind of a modern eclectic sort of woody feel. Things sort of blended here from one area to the next. Nice bar off to the side w/several flat screen tvs, multiple stools, looked like premium liquor, a smiling bartender and customers actually sitting there! Much better than the usual obligatory bar w/2 stools, no bartender, or a frowning one, no tv, newspapers in Chinese laying on it looking like no customers had sat their in yrs! This was way better. Our waitress seated us and I really liked the high back leather chairs at all the tables. Per some Unilocaly review suggestions I ordered the Orange Steak(never seen it or heard of it before but go with the Unilocal vibe, right??) and my friend ordered the kung pao chicken. I ordered tea and received jasmine tea which was a surprise as Im used to oolong or black tea but it was delicious,(Ive had it before but not for a long while) & complimented the meal well. Restaurant had some patrons in it at 7pm on a weeknight and noise was at a conversation level but not pin drop quiet. Potstickers came out along w/soup. potstickers were actually cooked just a touch less than what im used to & that was an improvement. Usually they hv a bit of a crunch and the inside is slightly done. This potsticker was soft but done(still needed a knife) inside was wonderful and the poi sauce to dip it in, had something else added to make it more enjoyable.(Green onion & mystery additive) Couldnt identify but it was great! I didnt hv soup but my friend enjoyed his egg drop. Orange steak came out and WOW! It must hv been dipped in a tiny bit of batter, quick panfried and dipped in an orange glaze while hot resulting in a slight crunch, slight chew and was phenomenal! The orange glaze was not overly sweet, like a sweet an sour sauce but slightly sweet w/more depth to it. The dish also had several vegetables which seemed blanched, a nice touch and they were crunchy but not over done. My friend was pleased w/his Kung Pao chicken but he had been here before and was expecting such. Service was good, they also had the busboys on their toes. Following up to wipe down tables and place new settings there. I liked the efficiency that they use at this place. Their workers are always smiling at each other and the customers as well. The prices are several bucks higher for most dishes but taste, service, presentation and cleanliness are worth it. My only negative was the surprise of being charged $ 3.50 for a pot of jasmine tea. Most pots of tea are $ 1 or complimentary. But thats it, If I lived in quad cities Id frequent often. Oh parking is tight too as they are in a strip mall with many other businesses but don’t let that deter you. Id go at off hours cause they likely get very busy but do go here!

Orange steak was very good dare I say better than orange chicken. Lettuce wraps were great as well. Garlic chicken was very good. This is not your typical Chinese food, it’s alot higher quality. I will definitely be going back.

Had an awesome dinner! My wife had szechan shrimp and I had Hunan shrimp. The Hunan shrimp had so many different flavors, and the shrimp was enormous and fresh.

Everything we ate was fantastic! I recommend the General Tso chicken! Not fatty or thick breading, just great tasting chicken. My son had orange peel chicken, also good! My friend had Hunan beef, really good tender beef, again, not fatty! We will be back!

Very delicious food. I would highly recommend eating the duck and the calamari. This is pricey compared to the rest of the menu, but cheap for duck and calamari compared to other places. A very nice atmosphere for a quick bite to eat in jeans or a nice dinner with a date.

Excellent food. Beautiful, contemporary décor. Full bar with creative concoctions and a decent wine list. Nice music. We loved the Mongolian beef, Kung Pao tofu, pan-fried pork dumplings(pot stickers), and chicken lettuce cups. Strange fortune cookie fortunes: «Don’t worry about losing. If it is right, it happens.»

Higher end than your typical Chinese restaurant. Nice atmosphere, good food! Nice presentation. We always get an appetizer because they are all so good! Definitely my go to Chinese restaurant in the Quad Cities.

I went there the other night with a group of 16. We made reservations and arrived on time. However when we got there, they gave away our seats to another group that arrived before us(without reservations) and our group had to stand around for a half hour before being seated. While we requested some accommodations to make up for the inconvenience, all they wound up doing was to give us free crab rangoon. On the plus side, their food was very tasty. Bottom line — Good food but poor service.

Holy Orange Steak! Has anyone ever had orange steak? I mean we’ve all had orange chicken but orange steak takes it to a whole other level! First off, this place is located in the spot that it’s hard to see from the road. So drive to the back where that nasty Granite City restaurant is and the restaurant is back there in another building. This place is very nice inside. Is definitely more upscale but the prices are not ridiculous. Our server was amazing she was very nice and always checked up on us without being annoying. First we order potstickers which I have say are one of the best potstickers I have tasted and if you know me I usually have potstickers about once a week because I eat Chinese all the time. The dipping sauce for the potstickers was sooooo good! That stuff is like crack. The classic chicken fried rice did not disappoint. It was full of flavor. What we did was order the chicken fried rice and orange steak together and into shared it. It all tastes very good together. You know the food is great when you don’t have to ask for the soy sauce. I highly recommend this place and I can’t wait to go back!

Great food. Great atmosphere and great service! Red lantern for the win! My husband lived his dish and I enjoyed mine as well. I recommend this spot. It’s perfect for a nice date night.

This was the second time we visited the red lantern. Both times the food was outstanding. Sometimes Chinese food can be greasy but this definitely is not. The chicken in the sweet and sour chicken is real chicken strips not the pressed stuff a lot of restaurants use. Agree with previous reviewer that this little gem seems undiscovered by many. Glad we found it!

Was an overall good experience. I don’t think there was anything super fantastic to set it apart from other sit down Chinese places. Would go back for sure

This is a hidden gem! Looking for a good Chinese place since my favorite closed down, I think I have found it here. The portions for lunch were sizeable, the appetizer was amazing(Little Steamed Bun). They have a lunch menu and dinner menu, also gluten free items if you’re in to that kind of thing. This is a great place. Atmosphere is dark and quiet, really nice and clean. Dessert was fabulous, the Banana Spring Roll is awesome! Over all this was fantastic. Come here and eat. Right meow!

The first time I rated this place, I rated it solely based on the takeout dish I had. I finally made it in for dine-in service, thinking that it sounded like a good idea for lunch. There were a variety of a items on their lunch menu, and that looked like a good deal overall. However, once I spotted the noodle soups on the menu, I was unable to resist, as Chinese noodle soups are my absolute favorite. I resisted the temptation to try a lunch combination and opted for the Roast Duck Noodle Soup. My husband and I also shared an order of dim sum. He got himself a combination lunch. The dim sum was disappointing(yet again… when will I learn??). The pieces were soggy… mushy… very strong shrimp flavor, with no other real flavor. We often buy dim sum in the freezer section, and I must say that ours ends up being infinitely better than theirs was… The duck noodle soup was the most disappointing of all. The ingredients were fresh, and that is the most positive thing I have to say. There were nice fresh vegetables. The duck was good, presented pretty much the same as it I expected it to be. Biggest problem: Some seasoning would have gone a long way. The broth was completely tasteless, and the«Chinese noodles» were Ramen noodles. Not what I’m accustomed to, and I have had many wonderful Chinese soups at other places but this was not one to return for. It spoke volumes when I asked the waitress for salt and she immediately knew that it was for the tasteless broth. She advised me that she found that the broth tasted good if I just poured in some of the dipping sauce that had come with the dim sum. Interesting… I get not«over-seasoning» food, but the food was just so unimaginative in flavor, and it’s an Ethnic food, so could we at least have some semblance of appropriate seasoning? It had nothing really. Be sure to order the dim sum sauce(skip the dim sum) if you want to add flavor to your otherwise basically-bland meal. I think the place must make its real money with its bar offerings… I won’t be back for more bland food, even though it’s fresh…

If I could give this place more than just the 5 stars I would because they deserve it! It’s such a beautiful restaurant. It may not look like much from the outside but when you walk in, it’s huge and gorgeous! There’s plenty of seating and tons of light from the windows. My favorite thing about the décor is that they have a lounge like area by the fireplace. I was definitely impressed with the aesthetics. My dad and I really just stopped for drinks but figured we’d get an appetizer or two. Because the appetizers were just about the same price as the majority of their lunch combos we ended up going w/that. He got the sa cha beef and I got the hunan beef. I was a little nervous because the menu described it as spicy but when I took a bite, it was hardly spicy at all! Nothing to be afraid of after all. I thought mine was really good. My dad, on the other hand, wasn’t super crazy about his. He described it as a good but not the best I will definitely be back. This place is just as delicious as it is gorgeous.
