Came here on a friday night. There are two different sections, one with all the pool tables, and the other to hang out and order your drinks. It was pretty packed and steamy the entire night, I was sweating profusely from the humidity. Obviously the crowd here are mostly college students. You can get change for the pool tables at the bar. This place is really hit or miss though, some days they are open, and some days they are closed. It changes throughout the year.

PROTIPS: Beware of the bartenders(like said in some previous reviews). Guard your cash with your life. First of all I’d like to highlight the tolerable things at G Street Wunderbar. The food is alright rising a little above average on price. The pork tacos are pretty good. I usually come here for Preacher’s No Brain Drain Trivia. Sometimes for pool, sometimes for football, sometimes for get togethers. Despite the bathroom smelling like sewage, it is also tolerable. I haven’t had any problems with service until tonight. Don’t be careless with your cash because the girl who was bar tending took my $ 20 and said that my order really costed that much WITH a coupon and when questioned later about the change she said that it came out to be a lot more than it was so the rest was tips. Our order came out to around $ 18 and I gave her a total of $ 35. The coupon did not cover the whole order and that was why I gave her cash to cover it all. This happened because I was asked for my ID a second time and then I unfortunately walked away from the bar to reserve a table without chasing her down for my change. But she just counted all her money and left. But hope is not all lost, Lance is the best bartender here who services you the right way and unfortunately he isn’t here tonight. I’m sad because I feel quite cheated. I have always paid with a credit card so they can’t do anything shitty like that. Five stars for Preacher’s No Brain Drain Trivia. Please do come here for trivia because Preacher never fails to entertain. I don’t think I’ll be coming in for a while and never again will I pay with cash if I do. I wish someone there would do something about the service.

Avoid this place. Sparcely furnished, weak tvs, strange odor in the restrooms, have to stand at the bar to order everything. Noticed strange vibe from the moment we got there, although bartender friendly the patrons were just a bit off, hard to put a finger on it but there was tension in the air. As the bartender worked his ass off an inordinate number of employees just mill around wearing T-shirts that say«Security» yet a towel dangles from their back pocket clearly indicating they are busboys. When the surley patrons got out of hand attacking other patrons these obviously self impressed busboys were nowhere to be found. Only positives 5 star trivia dude, great bartender but not nearly enough to get back through the doors of an odd unfriendly bar.

Good place to come and hang out with friends to have a drink on a Saturday night. Arrived around 11pm to find the place somewhat packed but nothing to crazy to not have a good time. Drink specials are at the back bar. Plenty of billiards tables to play on. I didn’t agree not do I think that the crowd was feeling the on stage band. I’m not from Davis but this place looked legit. Everyone seemed to be having a great time and I wish I could have stayed longer. No cover at the door. Cheers.

This bar is okay. It was kind of toasty when we got inside, which is good because it was cold outside. They have a good amount of pool tables and arcade games. I have no comment regarding the music as I wasn’t listening that time. However, if you want to play pool, I think this is a nice spot in Davis to challenge people.

I’ve been coming here almost every week(typically Fridays) for more than 8 months now to play pool with friends while having some drinks. It’s practically the only place where you can play pool in Davis(MU is now closed for renovations, and in any case it doesn’t serve drinks; I hear the place at U Mall has terrible tables, haven’t tried yet), so it doesn’t leave much choice. Over my 20+ visits I’ve mostly had good experiences(pool was ok, drinks were ok, I’ve always had good service at the bar), except for two incidents that eventually determined me to write this review. 1) One night my jacket was stolen from one of the hooks on the side, next to the pool tables, while I was playing. I only noticed when I left(after about 2h inside), and immediately went to one of the bouncers. He said there’s nothing he can do at that time, but advised I come the next day to ask the manager(also one of the bartenders) to check the security cameras. When I did that the day after I was met with a very superior, rude attitude. His reaction can be summarized as «going through the security camera footage is a lot of effort, and your jacket is not worth my time, so I won’t do it». Although I expressed some reservations about my willingness to return to their establishment after such a reaction, I forgave them(telling myself he had a bad day, he couldn’t possibly be that unreasonable), and continued coming back. 2) Tonight I wanted to go play pool with a Chinese colleague from work, who is also a regular, part of the group of friends I play with on Fridays. At the door we were met by a new bouncer, who refused to accept my friend’s Chinese driver’s license as a valid proof of id, and refused to let him in. We tried to argue that they never complained about this driver’s license being unacceptable during any of my friend’s many previous visits, and as a consequence he didn’t have any other proof of id with him(they never asked for anything else before, and always accepted the very same license). We asked the bartender manager, who happened to be outside talking to people, to help mediate this misunderstanding. I tried to explain that we were not aware another proof of identity was necessary, since they never complained before, that he knows us because we go there often, and that my friend would start bringing other ids next times, now that they expressed their dissatisfaction with his driver’s license. To my surprise and disappointment, the manager’s reaction was«I don’t care, your friend cannot go in, I’ve never seen him before»(although a second earlier he admitted to us coming there often). I tried to argue that there’s no reason he should treat us like that, and that we’re responsible people that never caused any trouble at his place, and kept coming back. I ended my plea by voicing my concern about how such a reaction does not make it likely I will return in the future. He replied: «that’s what you said last time, when your jacket was stolen, and you still came back». I guess manners and professionalism are not on the menu at Wunderbar. I should have learned my lesson the first time around. Shame!

This place is pretty bad, i’ve walked in and it’s smelled like sewage, the bathrooms have urine all over the floor, I give it three stars because I like playing darts and they’re open late. And that’s a generous 2 stars.

Decent choice of draft beers, arcade games and billiards in the back. The bar is a pretty large sized area with plenty of seating. There are long tables so several people and parties can fit onto one row. The bartender that took care of us during our visit was overwhelmed and in the weeds but still served us with a smile and was attentive to our needs. We ordered the mac & cheese w/pulled pork — in my opinion, a 3/5, could have used some more BBQ sauce or something to make the pulled pork a little more moist but when accompanied by beer, it’s not a HUGE deal. Skip the poutin fries — the gravy appears and tastes gelatinous and you can probably order something else on the menu that would settle better in your tummy. I have yet to attend the trivia nights but from what I hear second-hand, they’re awesome. Will have to stop by sometime and write an updated review. All in all, a cool place to hang out and chill for a round or two. One thing I did notice was that there was no music playing at all in the background. I thought that was odd. But makes for a low-key atmosphere for chatter and discussion! Will be back for some Great White on draft :)

As far as bars go, it’s pretty decent. They have some really cheap shot options which are great for a poor college kids like me. I even recommended this place to friends — until one night. I went out drinking alone once or twice since I just transferred here and don’t know a whole lot of people. One night I went to G Street with friends, and the bouncer said«welcome back» on the way in, inconspicuous enough. But when my friends and I left he turned to me and said«you know how I remember you? Every time I see you come in you never talk to anybody.» This may seem like an innocent enough comment, but I have aspergers and often fear going places alone for this exact reason — I’m afraid people will notice my solo-ness and think of me as a loser. I haven’t been back to G street since because I’m mortified of seeing that bouncer again. Maybe one day I’ll work up the courage.

Went with a buddy tonight, we are both in the service industry. We showed up at 1:15 and we’re promptly handed a couple lil Sumpin beers(awesome!) we were casually talking and drinking, having a decent time. At 1:30 on the nose the lights came on and last call was called, no problem. Last call is last call, we had ordered a beer a piece and we’re content with that. At around 1:35 a short red headed bouncer shouted«chug them or lose them!» repeatedly! From two feet away. When I asked him to «ease up» he said«no.» when I said«what are you doing? Just move along.» he told me «this is my job!» I’m a paying, sober, customer who wanted to enjoy a night cap and this lug nut of an employee demanded that I «chug» my beer. I can’t justify coming back to this bar with such arrogant employees running the show.

Pros: — chill environment — reasonably priced drinks and you get your money worth — friendly staff — amazing burgers Cons: — Saturday DJ is a huge hit or miss Comments: This is a spot you would want to go if you want to just have a good time. I have seen many people come here for their 21st and have a blast. Once you get to know the people there it kinda has a «cheers» vibe

BEWARETHEBARTENDERS. They include tip in your total without telling you. They also tell you it’s a $ 10 minimum, when in fact, it’s $ 15. I had left my tab open, and despite only getting 3 $ 3 Skittles shots and 1 cider on tap, they charged me $ 19.53 at the end of the night. WTF? My bill should have been about $ 15. My server who took all my orders was a big guy named Andrew D. Pretty shady if he let others charge to my tab or more likely, added his own tip to my bill without telling me. Makes sense since my tip on the tip line was ignored, and he added $ 1 per drink. They gave né a non-itemized receipt to boot. This was my first time at their bar. If they don’t come clean & make charges transparent, it will be my last. I don’t trust the bar at all after tonight. Stick to cash. This was when I went to their Funk Night 12÷17÷14 and had a pretty good time on the dancefloor. The major problem was the bar. *UPDATE*EDIT* They contacted me back on FB right away(FB messenger is the best way to reach them) and handled the entire situation with tact and respect. I really appreciate that they understood it was the principle of the matter that was important to me, not the money. They refunded me the difference when they saw my non-itemized receipt(red flag), and matched it up to the receipt the bartender made for me. I was indeed charged for drinks I didn’t order. The bartender’s dishonesty had put him on leave(they had issues with him previously). I’ll be updating my review and giving them stars based on this awesome customer service.

It was nice bar but the female bartender wasn’t so nice. Had a slight attitude/agitated manner about her. Hence the three stars. Customer service goes a long way. But the male bartender made up for it. He was very nice and informative about the different liquor. The food was good and nice crowd. I meet a cool pool playing ginger. A mixed crowd, pool table’s, and a DJ. I would definitely come back and hang out. Just beware of the female bartender… she seems to hate her job. 12.7.14

Beware of the Bartenders! I ordered a $ 5 beer, gave them $ 10, got $ 5 in change back. Slid it next to my drink and then turned away from the bar to watch the band. When I turned back my ‘change’ was gone. I asked the bartenders about it and they said ‘if there is money left on the bar, it’s considered a tip’. A 100% tip! After a short argument,(yes, they actually argued with me about the propriety of taking money from their clients) they gave me my money back. Mind you, this is after having to wait five minutes to get their attention to even order a beer– it wasn’t even crowded.(The bar tenders were too interested in talking to their friends at the bar then serving paying customers). Their attitude was so bad that I finished my beer and left. Avoid letting your change sit on the bar at this place. The bartenders are clearly unethical.

One of the cooler places to hang in Davis especially if you like live bands and an ‘old school cool’ vibe. G Street sports pool tables, two bars, plenty of seating and a live band usually in the vein of semi-weird buttrock performed by really talented, really unmarketable musicians presumably from the area. For 21+ places to go, G Street is probably my second favorite weekend-in-Davis stop that I’ve encountered so far under the Beer Shoppe.

Came on a Saturday afternoon to hang out before meeting with friends. Overall, a divey dimmed bar with daily drink specials. Had their watermelon beer and unfortunately the watermelon slice had a wet dishrag smell that was awful. Almost thought it was the beer until my nose was next to the melon. Husband was impressed with their arcade selection though. And they had a UFC fight on. Lots of space and overall an ok hangout. $ 15 min credit card charge.

This is the type of bar where you’d just hangout. There’s pool tables and some old arcade games in the back, and maybe a «dancefloor.» Actually, I wouldn’t say this bar has a «dance floor» considering they just pushed all the tables to one corner and«tried» to make a dance floor out of it. Regardless, the tables are still in the way of anyone trying to make use of the dance floor. And the people standing by the bar counter further clogs the dance floor even more. I’d probably say this bar is probably better as a «billiards lounge» than an actual«sports» bar. =/
