Now that I’ve graduated and moved on, I’ve decided it’s about time to write an update with my final thoughts. I loved living in sequoia for all 3 years living off campus. The apartment complex is pretty small compared to other places in the area, and is independently owned. I thought the rent was VERY reasonable and it’s got a great location. You’re right behind the north davis Safeway parking lot, and right next to one of the first stops on the G/J bus lines which means you can usually get a seat on those crowded buses! Elizabeth the apartment manager is so nice and tentative to all of the residents. She’ll personally email you when you’ve received a package, and she’s always very sweet when you come to drop off the rent or ask a question. Even after I moved out she still took care of a package I received there and contacted me to let me know. Tom the other manager /maintenance was also very kind and prompt to deal with any issues that you have. He’ll give you his personal cell number in case of urgent requests, and even for small things like needing help to hang a mirror he’s very quick about responding and coming over. He’s also available to get things from the main office after hours. The apartment’s themselves are older, but very spacious and generally well taken care of. Any issues we had were addressed immediately(and honestly you can’t expect brand spanking new apartments in an old city /area). We lived in a 3 bedroom, and had our own little patio space which we used to grow some vegetables even. We also never had a problem with bugs(spiders, cockroaches, etc) like other apartments in Davis. There are only minimal amenities(laundry facility, study room /lounge, pool and a bbq area). There’s no gym or free coffee /printing like some apartments, but honestly you’ll never use half of the amenities anyways so I’m happy not to pay the extra cost for them. My only con is the parking situation. I’m happy each apartment receives at least 1(and maybe 2) spots for no extra cost. There are several guests spots also around as well as street parking. Be warned however that the parking spots are very narrow, as is the lot itself and it can be very difficult to maneuver larger cars around. Overall I would recommend Sequoia Apartments to anyone in Davis. There’s a nice mix of both college students as well as families living here. You’re not paying for the additional amenities and you don’t pay a premium for big company owned apartments. The management is great and super friendly /easy to work with. I loved my 3 year stay here! 5⁄5 stars!

I lived here a few years ago and it’s a much more lively area than other parts of Davis. My roommates and I actually continued the lease from the previous tenants, so we were able to pay a lower price rather than the current one. I was able to get my own room for $ 400/month(which is a good price in Davis). The management was very nice, however they were hard to get a hold of. They were only in the office at certain times a day, and sometimes they weren’t there when they said they would be. Our apartment also had some work that it needed done(since the lease was being continued, it didn’t get the regular maintenance that apartments get when the old tenants move out). We told the office manager about the problems and they said they would send someone to fix it, but most things did not get done. The problem that bothered me the most was the shower. It drained VERY slowly, so by the time the shower was over I was standing in about 8 inches of water. Not fun. And it never got fixed. The apartment complex is on the small side with less than 50 units. You get 1 or 2 reserved parking spaces depending on how many bedrooms your place is. Other than that, the only parking is on the street, which can be difficult at certain times. It’s a busy street and there are a lot of other apartments that have overflow from their place wanting to park on the street. On the bright side, Sequoia is right next to the Marketplace so you have Safeway for your grocery needs and there are other restaurants and shops for other things. You could potentially save a lot of money on gas because almost everything you need is within walking distance. The buses also run frequently but they do get crowded.

I lived here for two years when I attended UC Davis. The location is very convenient. There’s a grocery store with a bank in it as well as good eats around the corner and it’s close to the frequent running G bus line to campus. My landlords at the time here were super friendly and helpful. They always came over right away if you had a problem in your apartment. The only thing bad about living here was that there weren’t enough visitor parking spots. There was absolutely no street parking either. I loved living here and I still miss this place to this very day. I’m not sure if my landlords are still here, but the rent was within reason, my neighbors were friendly and it was quiet enough to study here. Future Aggies, take note.
