Very good food and excellent service. I have been there many times over the years and have never been disappointed.

We just had a disappointing lunch at Whitey’s. Went for the blackened tuna sandwich that took a long time and was cold and raw. Sent it back and ordered their overpriced perch. Bread was not brought to the table, dropped fork was not replaced and 2nd glass of wine was long in coming. Asked for an adjustment to the bill for 1st returned order and Angela, our waitress, argued loudly that we were well served and reluctant to produce manager. He was anything but sympathetic and allowed for free coffee only. Restaurant is dark, smells of fish and the salad bar is spartan. Service is slow and Angela and management are surly. I will never return.

We went here as every time we drive by the place was packed. The place has a fresh salad buffet which looked good. The crab cakes were being advertised so we ordered some, just so the waitress could tell us they’re out. Disappointing. The menu is full of choices but nothing really stands out and looks good. Got a burger and wasn’t really that great as it had no flavor and the mayo looked and tastes old. It’s an ok place but you won’t see me there again.

We live a good distance from Whitey’s so we go there for a special treat. Prior to our last two visits everything was great. Good fish and salad bar and occasionally for something special, lobster. We came up for fish this week and were quite disappointed. It didn’t taste like cod. Nor were we crazy about the tartar sauce. The salad bar was good, as usual, but we really come for the fish. A few weeks prior we came for a special lobster dinner. The lobster was undercooked and stringy. We did not complain either time but discussed it between us. We probably won’t be making that special trip for quite a while.

Yes we are a biker family probably not looking like we are suitable for their establishment. Steak was rancid, smelled like blue cheese would smell. Just as rotten smelling. Lobster was raw when delivered. Taken back and the replacement was raw as well. Was billed for the lobster since that was eaten prior to taking a bite of the rancid steak. Manager decided to let me know that the steak was good, that nothing was wrong with it. Wtf. Take some pride in your establishment and the quality of food and attitude in service. I get it that not all can be perfect things happen. The way we were taken care of was completely unacceptable and unprofessional. Hopefully the owners would like to know the extent of unprofessionalism in care of their restaurant. We travel the world and this place takes the cake.

First time here over the weekend. My fiancé and I stopped in Saturday afternoon. He had been here years back with some guys from work & he kept telling me how they are known for their fish. Our server was Denise, she was very friendly and nice. Gave us the cheaper option for lunch specials. I ordered 2 piece fish n’ chips lunch special with salad bar. My fiancé ordered the 3 piece fish n’ chips. To be honest I really didn’t care for it… The fish was alright, it tasted a bit over cooked, French fry’s were like any other restaurant, the salad bar was basic, crunchy lettuce and tons of different toppings, only 4 different choices for salad dressings. I just was not a fan. The fish was OK, but could’ve been better. Our favorite part of the meal was the warm bread that they brought to our table. Reasonable prices, good service, If I go back next time I will order something different.

Whitey’s is not super great, but it’s edible. I’ve noticed that the food is either too salty, or not seasoned enough. The service has always been good, no complaints in that department.

One of the best restaurants in Genesee county and hands down the best seafood. Dinners come with a wide variety salad bar. Service is always great and very reasonably priced!

Love this place– stopped in for a quick dinner after handling some business and discovered a gem! The fish and chips were wonderful. My husband had the baked Cajun cod and gobbled it up. We liked the salad bar as well, there are many choices. Wait staff was friendly and attentive. We will definitely return!

I had the yellow perch. It was very good for a restaurant perch dinner. It’s hard to find real yellow lake perch these days. Most places fake it with imported zander or some other imposter. They also have walleye and bluegill on the menu. Wish it was closer to Royal Oak.

Excellent seafood and service. The salmon with mashed potatoes is the best! Seriously, I often get it when I stop in to eat. I know, I should probably try something else, but what can I say? I like what I like. Beyond the salmon, Whitey’s also has great fish and chips– the batter is flaky, perfectly textured. The fresh baked bread that comes with every meal is so good, too. It’s hard for me to not fill up on that while waiting for my meal to arrive. This restaurant also has a salad bar, unlike a lot of seafood places, but it’s actually pretty good, chock full of healthy cold pasta dishes(potato salad, Greek salad, spaghetti salad, coleslaw, etc) and plenty of fresh toppings to make a better than average salad, along with a selection of homemade soups. The potato soup is amazing and probably my personal favorite. You can get their yummy sweet potato fries as a substitute for French fries with your sandwich, which is a plus. I often choose those if I get a fish sandwich. As for dessert, top off your meal with a delicious slice of carrot cake. It’s huge and you need two people to split it. They have a homemade cheesecake that tastes just Heavenly as well. Service is excellent here and the atmosphere is very nice. Everything is decked out in a nautical theme, with lots of «seafaring» touches, like ropes and nautical knots, lanterns, etc on the walls.

What can I say but why do you say it hasn’t basically already been said. It is your classic seafood restaurant, but one of the things that I haven’t seen mention very much is there Samwood selection. It is quite good, and as I often to 10 business meetings at this location, I find myself more often in a sandwich mood then a big dinner or seafood mood. The menu is pretty big, and as has been mentioned several times the salad bar is always fresh and quite large as well. They have a pretty good selection of alcohol as well if your so inclined. Yes, the Decores a little dated, but that is also part of the charm. If you’re there a certain time of night, don’t let the sound of the nightly Amtrak train scare you: your right next to the tracks! Overall, I highly recommend Whiteys. I’ve been going there since I was quite little, and the food is always first-rate.

After 60 years in business I think they know what their doing. This is a fish house. With fish and chips family style being the star. First we’ll start a the salad bar, which on first look doesn’t seem like much. Well, take a better look sonnyboy. Freise(?) lettuce, and peanuts and peas, I’ve never heard of this combo but it was good, and some yummy pickled beets. also some homemade macaroni salads. Now on to the star COD. We had the fried which were some of the moistest pieces of fish I’ve ever had, in fact everyone at the table mentioned how moist these were. And tasty crunchy yumminess. Served with bowls of French fries. When ordering family style when you reorder you can get as many as you want. Go for a nice drive and check Whiteys out

After hearing how great this place is by numerous people that I know, I had to give it a shot. I should have known by the greasy fish aroma that wafted through the parking lot what kind of meal I was in store for. I love family-owned businesses and this one has been here for 57 years(according to their sign outside). I walked in and thought I was at a Ponderosa. The cheap décor was not what I was expecting. After perusing the menu, I opted for the jumbo shrimp and the hubby got their«famous» cod. I liked the fact that the dinners came with a trip to the unlimited salad bar. The salad was delish, green olives and eggs made it on my salad, most places don’t offer that… and they had the«good» ranch. The bread. yummy, garlic, warm, buttery goodness. I will give them 5 stars for that. The seafood. um, not so good. The cod, I’ve had better at a Ram’s Horn. The shrimp, greasy, and the texture was quite rubbery. The mashed potatoes were luke warm and in the shape of an ice cream scooper. I had to season them myself with quite a bit of salt and pepper. For 2 pieces of cod and 6 pieces of shrimp, $ 30 was the tab… I’ve had better elsewhere and we won’t be coming back here. Not sure why they have been in business for so long…
