I’ve eaten there a couple of times at the lunch buffet. I didn’t have high hopes the first time I went in, but the food was very good. The naan is delicious and all weekend I was craving the food. True, basic restaurant SOP’s are ignored. Sometimes you wait for someone to come out of the kitchen to notice you’re there, and they don’t clear the tables very promptly. But the owner and his wife are nice and the food is yummy and the price is right. Don’t go there to impress anyone, don’t go for a fancy meal, just enjoy the food when you want some good Indian.

I went to this restaurant a couple of times — once with my wife and another with extended family and I have to say that I loved the food. The samosa chaat, manchurian, dosa and choley bhature were awesome — one of the best that I’ve tasted in New Jersey.

Hmm… I must have gone on a decent day, or when they had a better cook. Granted there was nobody in there, but I ordered the Chicken Mahkni, and some butter Naan, and I wasn’t really disappointed at all. I kinda agree with the reviewer Radhika regarding the Naan being a bit over-buttered…and I have a suspicion that POSSIBLY the same people owned Cake Walk, which I HATED… but…but…my Chicken Mahkni was really really good. In fact, if I were reviewing this just on my Chicken Mahkni experience, they would have gotten 5 stars. Why? Well, the chicken was tasty, tender and kinda moist. The gravy was excellent. I asked for medium-spicy, and it had the perfect amount of kick. I’ve been to other Indian restaurants, where medium tastes like mild to me… but not this one. It was dead-on with how I wanted it. The Naan… it wasn’t inedible for me at all. It was pretty good, though I’ve had better down the street at Rasoi(who oddly are only open on the weekends). The REALLY disappointing part of the meal for me was the RICE. Honestly, I don’t even know if it was really Basmati Rice. If I didn’t know better, I would have sworn it was Uncle Ben’s version of Basmati. That was a disappointment for sure. Overall, it had potential for me… but then again, I live in East Brunswick, and after Bombay Gardens left town, I’ve been completely disappointed with what has appeared in their wake. I will check them out again, with an open mind, and update my review accordingly.

This place is the old cakewalk supposedly under New Management. For starters we waited 10 minutes in this nearly empty restaurant to simply see a face that worked there(aka No Concept of Front of the House). The décor was very odd but that’s not what really bothered me about this place. We ordered 3 fairly basic Indian dishes: — Samosa Chaat — alright but the cholay tasted like they were doused in ketchup — Pav Bhaji — hands down the worst pav bhaji I have ever tasted. The bhaji did not taste at all like the traditional pav bhaji. The accompanying onion was chopped so big that I couldnt fathom adding it to my bhaji. The pav(bread) was SOAKED in butter and absolutely disgusting to touch. — Masala Dosa — again, hands down the WORST dosa I have ever tried(and I have eaten lots of dosas and lots of high end and low end places). It tasted SOUR which is usually a byproduct of over-fermenting the dough. This place has a sticker(I’m guessing it’s an old sticker from Cakewalk) thats from google reviews that asks to check them out. They seriously need to fix up EVERYTHING from management to the flavors of their food. Bottomline: this place sucked when it was Cakewalk and apparently new management hasn’t done anything for this establishment. Don’t go here unless you want horrible food.
