Fronana

Fronana is great! I’ve been a couple times and sampled a variety of flavors, each time pleasantly surprised and how good they really are! It’s hard to believe it’s really made from just bananas, it doesn’t taste anything like banana (except the banana flavor, obviously) and is plenty sweet without added sugar. Bobby is very enthusiastic about his product and that dedication shows! Give it a try! I think you’ll be back once you do =)

I have found my sweet tooth vice w/​out the guilt. Fronana is a great alternative to dairy ice cream. Now, if you expect it to taste like dairy ice cream, you will be disappointed. Keep an open mind and I think you’ll enjoy it as well. Oh and the staff is great! Very personable. They even let me sample as many flavors as I wanted before placing my order. Rich Dark Chocolate was my favorite, paired well with the Cherry Chocolate Chip. So glad I work nearby.

My goodness, these guys are enthusiastic! Wanted to support a local business, even though I don’t much care for bananas, and (what a welcome surprise) they had flavors without banana! It was pretty dense, and one scoop would have probably done me fine, sometimes you just want to try it all, you know? I’ve only ever been to their little storefront on First Street downtown, but I’ll definitely queue up if I see their cart around town this summer!

I waited a ridiculously long time to try Fronana. I saw it on Kickstarter and thought, «That’s clever. I’d like to eat that.» I’m always scouting for safe and delicious vegan things.
I showed up to Third on Third and was bummed by the food options available for the people who don’t eat meat or dairy. Food trucks aren’t the best for us. But, I knew the Fronana man was there. He had a cute little cart and wore the bow tie I read was inspired by Bill Nye. He was really nice and friendly. The whole experience was quite charming and almost old fashioned.
I chose chocolate chip. And, even though I knew it was vegan, I had to ask. Because I always ask. But, hurray! Truly vegan.
The texture is closer to a sorbet than cream. This seems obvious because, frozen bananas are plant fibers and water but I was still surprised. But not displeased. I purchased the larger size, intending to share. My group wasn’t as interested as I had thought they might be, though, so I ate most of it. And I felt like I had eaten a basketball, I was so full. Again, logical, but I didn’t think of it.
My boyfriend thinks fruit flavored would carry the texture better and that’s possible. I’m completely willing to try everything that I’m not allergic to. And, it out Fronana is available at a few locations for easy pickup. I’ll be looking into it. Here’s that link.

Just tried Fronana for the first time! It was so good! I’m always looking for more options for vegan and dairy free & I was so impressed with the flavors! They’re all made from bananas but the Dark Chocolate really tastes like Dark Chocolate ice cream! No added sugars and really healthy for you! Hope you can make it out to LA! The owner, Robert was very nice, and it’s always great to support local business! Will definitely be coming back on my trips to Dayton!

I went here for the first time today and it was amazing! My friend was recently diagnosed with a lactose allergy and had been obsessed with ice cream. This was just the fix she needed. It does not taste quite the same as ice cream but in my opinion it is better! I had the chocolate chip and it tasted like banana bread batter. I also bought two pints to take home.

We were so excited to stop by the new shop after having Fronana from the trike at Earthfest this spring. We enjoyed three different flavors — peach, dark chocolate, and cherry chocolate chip. The dark chocolate was our favorite. There are several other flavors and we can’t wait to come back to try them out. Everything is vegan and gluten free with no added sugars. The proprietor was on hand to answer our questions and he was very friendly. Also, Fronana is working to support the community in several ways, which is really cool.
In short, Fronana is exactly the type of shop we’ve been waiting for and we’re planning on coming back frequently.

I’ve been waiting for this shop to open for a while and had seen their facebook page. I stopped by this afternoon and I must say I don’t know what all the hype is about. A not very generous small scoop of Fronana cost $ 3.00., and although I can see the appeal for vegans or those that are lactose or gluten intolerant, the taste and consistency reminded me more of frozen yogurt than ice cream and I still have a bitter aftertaste in my mouth after a considerable amount of time. Also, mine at least had quite a bit of ice crystals in it. I’m sure it’s much healthier than ice cream but I don’t think I will be back.
