Hertz Rent A Car

Omg… if this this the Hertz at the airport. .they are terrible and pushy so you can upgrade and pay more… staff needs attention. Cars are not updates and old with high mileage!!! Stuck with them they are the only hertz at the airport.

Horrible! Hertz markets itself as national chain. Due to a cancelled flight out of Dayton, I was rerouted to leave out of Cincinnati. The rate for my rental doubled in price because it was now a one way rental…$ 125/​day for a compact car!!! Total price gouging. It was still returned to a Hertz location but they claimed it was ‘their’ car. I am Hertz Gold for 5+ years– loyalty gets you nothing!

I reserved a car with XM since I had to drive it round trip 300 miles.
What I got was a POS over priced Corolla.

Why have on line reservation and offer President Circle member a car with XM then dump them in a Corolla.
It really pays to have status with Hertz when you visit this location… NOT!

I rent a lot of cars for work. I’m in and out of Dayton all the dang time and frankly — I don’t like to socialize when I know I have an hour’s drive ahead of me at 9 pm.
So, when I see Ben’s face at the counter it’s a good sign. I have a gold membership, it’s a sign and go deal. I don’t even have to think about this: the garage is across from the terminal. In less than five minutes, I’m out of the airport and headed to the base.
I’ve never gotten a dirty car here. Some rental places? I’ve found water bottles, coffee cups and it’s pretty obvious a smoker had the car before me. I do prefer a smaller car, so I like they don’t pressure me into upgrades or unwittingly push me into some tractor trailer with a cab sized ridiculous thing. Okay, I know some people like that. Not me. They stick with my profile and it’s good.
Drop off is the same way. It’s a simple left turn back into the garage and I’ve never waited more than a minute or two for someone to come over and scan me for return and receipt. Since the terminal is just across the street, it’s very convenient.
I haven’t found a nearby gas station so I usually wind up gassing up about 3 exits before the airport. If you don’t buy the fuel option, you need to take care of this as they’ll certainly charge you now — but there’s a warning letter on your rental jacket that you can’t miss that outlines this very clearly.

They get a five star even after a screw up… good folks! I booked a day rental for a quick trip to Dayton to visit friends and picked up my car without an issue. The manager was on duty at pick up; he was heading outside to deal with something (there was a «5 minutes, please» sign on the counter) but he saw me and turned back around to help me instead. Booked a compact and ended up with a fully loaded Toyota Corolla with very low mileage. The gold spots are easy to access as soon as you walk in the garage and I was on my way quickly.
At drop off, the lady working the check-​in gun really had no clue (she struck me as the type that a computer would make her cry). Very sweet, but not so helpful when the bill came up about $ 40 higher than it should have. She told me that I’d have to go inside and wait at the counter, and I didn’t have time for that. So then she told me just to call back later and they’d take care of me. My call the next day started with being hung up on three times (I’m guessing they were having phone issues) and then being told by someone at the counter that she couldn’t help me and that the manager couldn’t help me, but she’d have him call me anyways. So when he called me an hour later, taking care of the problem plus a decent amount extra, I was pretty impressed. His apology was sincere and I was more than happy with the outcome.
I’ve always been a pretty loyal Hertz customer (#1 Gold member for years due to business travel), but it’s experiences like this that make them my favorite choice for personal travel as well. They just get it.
