This little gem I believe closed… there was a sign on the door that said it closed and the phone is disconnected… I loved the fire noodle soup extra hot

Got dinner takeout due to strong Unilocal reviews. Pad thai had no vegetables: just noodles and tofu. Pineapple chicken’s sauce was sugar syrup. The bubbles in the bubble tea were hard. The spring rolls were good, though. So not a complete fail but pretty close.

Amazing food and large portions. Price is fair. Staff was great, they came out with an assortment of noodles when we asked about them. Seafood was good quality.

The place was deserted. The summer rolls were so loosely rolled that one bite caused them to fall apart. The Malaysian Laksa was so lacking in flavor that is pulled out any flavor I had in my mouth. My friend ordered a noodle dish that was so dry. I might give it another try to see about some of the other meals, but would not recommend. Go a mile down the road to Lihn’s instead.

If you like spicy food, you can find your paradise here. Also, the beef is very tender!!!

What really excites me about this place is that there are so many things there I want to try, and based off of my initial culinary experience, I doubt that the plethora of clever menu items would disappoint. Also be sure to try their Thai tea, and when asked if you want bubbles, say yes. I can’t really explain what the bubbles are in words, because honestly I wasn’t sure what they were whilst consuming them, but just trust me they’re good. As for the meal it was quite good, I sincerely look forward to going back again.

I’d actually rate it 2.5 stars. I tried this establishment today and had the thai chicken basil and eruption beef soup. Both were okay, nothing extraordinary, and the portions were mediocre, too. It’s pricier(costs $ 3-$ 5 more pfor a meal) than your regular Chinese restaurant. Probably wouldn’t bother to go back.

I had sesame chicken, fried rice, and Thai tea with boba. I would compare my meal to mall quality, but the tea was great!(A little on the sweet side) My husband had the eruption soup and said it was good but thought Lynn’s bistro was better. He described the soup as one dimensional in flavor, while Lynn’s was bursting with flavor! So if your curious, I’d try this place at least once but id never go again.

Pineapple chicken was super sweet. It’s good but I would seriously suggest trying something more traditional. Phở is nothing to write home about. Broth lacks that good deep color and flavor. Beef is too thick and cooked well done. Would go back(maybe for takeout) for a spicy dish.

Love this place. I had the pineapple chicken, an amazing fusion dish. Battered and fried tender chicken chunks tossed with pineapple and creamy sauce that sets the whole dish off. The sweet and juicy pineapple couples well with the crisp, warm and tender chicken. Served with rice and a complimentary crab rangoon. This is a must try dish. As always, the staff and service are outstanding. Enjoy good eating.

This is a hidden gem! Every time I have been to Laksa(dine in or take out) — service is friendly and fast, food hits the spot and it is reasonable to boot. They have a lot of variety in their menu(Chinese, Malaysia, Thai) — so everyone will be happy with the choices. The portions are also very generous. I’ve had the tofu hot pot and a few noodle dishes. I had a particularly tasty spicy soup noodle entrée(can’t remember the name). I can’t wait to return so I can try more dishes!

Sometimes, you get an idea(or two…) of what you want in your head before you even sit down, and then, when it’s not an option, no matter what alternatives you’re given, it’s just not quite«right…» I’ve been wanting to try this place for a while, and already had a(preconceived) idea of what I wanted… PHO! My bad, as they were out of basil(?!?) which as far as my VERY limited knowledge of pan-Asian, and esp. Vietnamese food goes, it was NOT good news. I enjoyed my VERY good Vietnamese shrimp spring rolls as I attempted to find an alternative choice for an entrée. There’s a Chinese favorite of mine on their menu, spicy eggplant, that I have yet to find here in the Dayton-Springfield area and would have made a WONDERFUL second choice… Sorry, also not available! The extremely helpful waitress recommended I try one of the other soups, and I went with a #3(out of 5) tomato-based veggie, noodle, chicken and beef option(sorry, can’t recall the name) It was great, HUGE portion of not my first(nor second) choice, but good enough. Maybe my expectations were too high, or I locked myself too firmly into what I wanted, not seeing some other potentially great options, and that might have been my loss. Service was SUPER attentive, and nothing beats an «off the beaten path/hidden gem» spot, so I’m going to give them an «A-OK» for effort, and HOPE that the next time I’m here, they’ve got more of what’s on their menu…

I’ve had several recommendations to come here… so I decided to finally try it out! The food is pretty decent… I ordered a few spring rolls and General Tso’s chicken. While it didn’t blow me out of the water, it was definitely one of the best versions I’ve had. …I will have to try another dish next time. The server was very friendly. I had a million questions about the overwhelming selection on the menu… I will definitely come back to try the pineapple rice… it definitely piqued my interest. I look forward to trying many more items on the menu!

Wow I am actually pretty impressed! It was my first time and I ordered eruption noodle soup, and my boyfriend ordered the spicy noodle soup(a weird version of jjamppong). The eruption soup just sounds scary so I was not sure on what to expect. But the broth was great! It is a beef broth with multiple spices and garlic and onions~ i think its a wonderful dish and my bofrienss dish was pretty good too! It’s a little odd that jjamppong has chicken, pork, AND beef in it… Usually its just seafood… but overall it was good! One problem with these dishes were that the noodles were very weak…

Great Service and Good Food. Our waitress did an excellent job keeping our drinks full, taking our orders, and always smiling. I had the eruption soup which had good flavor and a good amount of beef. My wife had the orange chicken which was crispy and tasty. I would return and would recommend this place.

I had the hot and sour soup and Holy Thai Basil with Chicken. I always judge an Asian restaurant’s worth on whether or not their hot and sour soup is good. Big Bowl’s soup is good although the portion was pretty small, but hey, the bowl itself was big. The Holy Basil Chicken came out and looked promising. The complimentary crab Rangoon was decent, a little on the sweet side. The chicken dish was just ok. Could’ve used more flavor. About halfway through I realized that I couldn’t really taste anything. I got out of here for $ 7.45 plus a $ 3 tip. It was my first time here, I’m sure I’ll be back at some point. I was the only person in the place at 12:30 on a Saturday which is a little concerning in regards to their longevity. The food at Linh’s is more flavorful and is probably worth driving the extra half mile to get it.

This place is great. My fiancé and I discovered it a few months back and we love it. The location is a little out of the way, but the food is great. The restaurant is very clean and the service is on point! We have had most of the appetizers(Steamed Dumplings and Asian Burrito are superb), and all of the soups. The Phở & Fire Noodle Soup are two of my personal favorites. One might think that $ 10 is a little pricey for a bowl of soup, but this isn’t your run of the mill bowl of chili folks. This is a BIG Bowl of soup with a lot of noodles, vegetables and meat. I have yet to finish a bowl completely… I usually end up taking about half of it home and eating it the following day for lunch. Two Meals! Like I said before this place is great. Its a hidden gem. Do yourself a favor and stop in… you will not be disappointed.

I’ve been here twice now, and I’m going to continue to enjoy the emptiness and friendliness of this place until all of you discover that it exists. The name of the restaurant is appropriate for two reasons — the portions are street food-sized, and the menu’s arms wrap all the way around the Asian continent. So far, I’ve had the Malaysian Chow Kueh Teow and the Massaman Curry Chicken. Big Bowl nailed both of them. The fried gyoza has a sweet fresh crispiness that gives way to a generous several bites of meat inside. Next time I’ll be hitting either something Malaysian with a little more heat, one of their Tom Yum dishes, or I may spring for the phở. The restaurant was very clean, and the décor improved from the old Linh’s. Service was quick both times, and I enjoyed talking to the staff until my food was ready. Great experiences all around.

The last time I was in the building, I had a mediocre experience with Linh’s. This time, things were much better. I was looking over the Singaporean and Malaysian items, since I failed to visit a Malaysian restaurant in Philadelphia when I was there a little over a week ago. I wanted some Roti Canai and Nasi Lemak again. Unfortunately, Big Bowl didn’t have such items. As I discussed this with the woman, she said that she’d like to have those items as well. :-) She suggested the Ring of Fire with Beef, and I went with that, as well as a Thai Iced Tea. We settled on 4 of 5 on the level of spiciness, even though I eat a lot of Korean food. I prefer to be safe. The Thai Iced Tea wasn’t too sweet, thankfully, and while she offered to add the black tapioca pearls, I declined, as they don’t really do anything for me. However, for $ 3.25 or $ 3.50, maybe I should have taken them. The Ring of Fire dish was a combination of somewhat chewy meat, two kinds of onions, a few green peppers, and jalapeños. It was quite good. I was concerned about $ 12.99 for a single dish with white rice on the side, but there was quite a lot of food and I needed to take some home. I could have done with smaller portions and a smaller price – or better meat for the price – or better but less meat and more vegetables. It was a good dish, though. However, the bill with tip finished a $ 20 bill and that’s a lot when Sima isn’t far away. I hope that they’ll come up with more Malaysian and Singaporean recipes. While the included Chinese dishes are stable options, I’m thinking that people will only order them if they see nothing else they want. Still, I hope they’ll be successful, as there need to be good options compared to Linh’s.
