McAfee Heating & Air Conditioning

I have always had great experiences with McAfee Heating & Air Conditioning. The last visit was not an exception. The technician that came to my house was very professional and friendly and worked quickly and efficiently while going above my expectations in my furnace check up. This has been my experience in every McAfee visit to my home and I would highly recommend them. They are also very involved in the Dayton community and really give back which I think is really cool and love to support local businesses like this.

My HV unit was acting up over the weekend and McAfee was the first company that came to mind. The technician came out early the next morning and inspected the system. his news was bad. According to him, the entire system was shot. he said he could clean it but advised that probably wouldn’t do any good. He looked me right in the eye and said, «If I were you, I’d replace the entire unit. you’d just be throwing your money away if you try to repair it.» He said it would be $ 750 to try to clean it, but suggested strongly that a $ 3500 replacement unit would be the best course of action. «I don’t get commission» he said «so I’m telling you the truth.» I thought about it but told him I’d need to get a second opinion before spending that kind of money.
I looked through google and found Tanner HVAC, they came out within an hour and listened to my explanation of what was going on. The first words out of his mouth was «sounds like the fan switch went bad.» He inspected the unit and $ 114 later, the system was running fine. It was the fan switch and he replaced it within an hour.
Don’t get me wrong. my HVAC is dirty and it needs cleaned, but for McAfee to advise so strongly that the system was beyond saving and to urge me to not «waste my money» was wrong of them. I feel like I either had an incompetent tech or was lied to. I don’t know which is the truth. I will never call McAfee again, it was an $ 89 service call that got me absolutely nothing.
