Phantom Pizza opened a few months ago at the Dayton Mall in former Sbarro space on the upper level. Similar to Sbarro, this fast casual pizza place serves up a variety of thin crust NY style pizzas(by the slice or whole pie), pan Pizza, stuffed pizza, strombolis, salads, pasta, and cold drinks(Pepsi products). The prices here seem in line with other Pizza places in a mall, Pizza slices(starting at $ 3.99) and pasta dishes from steam table($ 4.60-$ 7.39). After shopping at the mall on a late Friday evening, I decided to go upstairs to eat dinner. Most of the places in the food court were already in the process of shutting for the night around 8:50 pm. I walked over to Phantom Pizza which had only pizza slices, strombolis, garlic knots, and no pasta dishes. As I turned around to check the time, the owner was offering to sell the remaining food at deeply discounted prices. I could not refuse and ordered a Veggie Pizza slice and a Steak & Cheese Stromboli, which were both heated up in the oven. The Veggie slice was topped with plenty of veggies, cheese and sauce, thin crust was soft and crisp outside. The Stromboli had shaved steak, peppers, hot peppers, onions, and melted cheese stuffed in a chewy dough, coated with sesame seeds outside. Overall, the food was pretty good(and cheap too) even right before closing time.
