My initial impression of walking into the warmly lit restaurant with dark Asian decorations reminded me of izakayas in Japan. It was about 6:20pm(still happy hour) when my wife and I walked in and the staff politely let us know it was a busy night. We waited for a few minutes before getting seated. The atmosphere is quaint with a tv behind the sushi bar with ESPN on. The booths are spacious yet cozy with enough privacy for a date night. It took awhile before being asked about drinks but the enthusiasm and energy of the staff brought our spirits back up and made the difference in our experience. The timing of the service took a little bit, but we felt very welcomed and cared for during our meal. I definitely would like to go back and give it another shot hopefully at a calmer time. The food came out in good sized portions, tasted fresh and bursted with flavor. Look forward to another visit.

Again Sima has let me down, this time we did a carry out order which included bulgogi chop Chae sushi and kimchi. Chop chae and sushi did not taste as good as other establishments and the kimchi was absolutely horrible. There is two strikes for Sima and I will never be going back and will not recommend this to anyone except for the recommendation of staying away. Sake and Saya blows this place away and no one can beat sushi at Shen’s, they have the best!

Awesome food! Customer service was awesome! I will definitely go again. I’ve only eaten there for their lunch buffet where you get endless sushi! Is it the best? no, but what do you expect for buffet sushi. Don’t get me wrong, it was still very good food!

My boyfriend and I dine here all the time. The staff is always super friendly to us and the wait is always short. We go there so often the owner knows what we’re going to order(creatures of habit). The half price sushi on Wednesdays is a great deal. If you’re hungry enough during lunch for the all you can eat sushi bar, that’s also a great deal. They have a ton of different rolls that you can choose from, plus you can tell it’s fresh. The salad bar and all the veggies are super fresh and appetizing. If you go on a day when a deal isn’t happening, it can be pricey. But be a smart consumer and take advantage of deals and half off days. Don’t order 4 – 8 different rolls and be shocked at the price.

I’ve been here multiple times, and I either love it or hate it. The servers are very very kind and attentive on most visits… Though there have been a few where they couldn’t seem to care less, and forget parts of my order. Sima’s food is alright: their sushi is the best part. It also makes me upset how their menu is constantly shrinking, it seems. Their Korean menu is great, their Japanese one… Not so much.

I had heard good things about this place, and was really looking forward to going here for a friend’s birthday. When we arrived on a friday night the place was nearly empty, and by the end of the meal we would know why. My wife and i ordered four rolls; all of them were subpar. Each roll was drenched in sauce to the point there were puddles of sauce on the plates. The fish within the rolls was not good either, which may explain why they used so much sauce. I would tolerate the mediocre rolls if the prices were reasonable, but all of the rolls were very overpriced. The servers were very attentive, and entertaining so i will give sima two stars. Unfortunately the friendly staff is not enough to overcome the lousy food.

Not the best sushi I’ve found in Dayton but still decent so I’ve been a few times. Prices aren’t too outrageous but my biggest gripe would be the lack of rolls put out during their all you can eat lunch buffet. If there’s not a lot of people when you go, expect little to no rolls put out and no rush to put any more out. Don’t like what you see that’s out and no time to sit around until they finally do re-stock? You’re out of luck. Not sure if I’ll be back, but if I do it certainly won’t be lunch time.

I think this place is decent, but a bit overpriced. I do like the staff here. This seems to be a very welcoming place! My boyfriend and I ordered a Bulgogi dinner(18.99), an avocado roll, a TNT roll, and a crazy California roll. While the Bulgogi and panchan was good… I think the TNT was lacking. I have worked at a sushi bar that had this exact same roll. I feel as if this roll was soaked in oil. I understand it’s a deep fried roll, but I’ve had plenty of sushi, including the deep fried variety. This roll could be better with a little more effort. The mochi was terrible. I am very sorry for saying that, but it was either stored incorrectly, at the wrong temperature, or for too long. The outside had a strange wax-like consistency, which I assume is from drying out in the freezer. The total bill was about $ 70(before tip.) While that’s just a bit above average for a sushi restaurant, the quality of the food did not match the price. However, we thought our waitress was very friendly, bright and cheerful! All of the staff, matter of fact, seemed very welcoming. For this reason, I do want to come back and try other menu items.

It is pricy. The food is okay. Side dishes are good. The service is super. They gave us free red bean ice cream. Highly recommended l

The dol sot bibimbap was perfect. The textures blended just right. Fast service and no wait on a Friday night. Could have enjoyed more authentic music though :) other than that awesome experience.

Much to the delight of my former military man, Sima has many of the traditional Korean dishes he loves from when he was stationed there. Mrs. Kim was so sweet and wonderful, especially to my young dining companion. Can’t wait to come back and try the tableside grill!

I’m a fan of any place that goes the extra mile to not just accommodate, but cater to vegetarians. Not too many veg options on the menu, but our delightful waitress and the hostess both took time to explain that they could ‘vegetarianize’ some korean dishes for me. I like that. And I told them that. I was happy on the Korean side of the menu — got bibimbap vegetarianized with tofu. A little lean on the vegetables, but the spicy-sweet sauce on the side, peppery pickled eggplant and carrot, and zingy kim chi made up for that, and added a lovely flavor note or two. Maybe I shouldn’t expect LA spice in Dayton OH? Note to chef — some like it hot =) Portion size big enough for a moderate dinner and lunch the next day. The youngun stayed on the Japanese side of the menu — got his favorite miso soup, veggie tempura and cucumber roll. He’s a happy camper with some pickled ginger. Parking is easy. Ambience is laid back. It was a quiet weekday evening. Overall, I liked it, I’ll be back. One small request — would it be possible to get a ‘single serving’ of soju please?

A fantastic dining experience. Friendly, professional service staff and a clean, cosy atmosphere. I had the crunchy shrimp roll and an order of smoked salmon sashimi with a serving of green tea ice cream for dessert. Food came out fast and was delicious. Will be coming back to Sima very soon.

This has been the best restaurant experience I’ve had for years. I wasn’t sure what to expect when I drove into the parking lot. The restaurant is not exactly anywhere I would expect it to be. There was a DIY car wash behind it that I could see from the parking lot. As I entered, I saw many Korean language flyers posted on the walls. That gave me a clue that they probably have good Korean food, plus the fact that the suggestion to eat at this place came from the owner of Pleasing Market. After all the mis-steps and fake Asian places, I never know what to expect. As I entered, I was met with friendly, lively people. Tell me that isn’t a 180 degree difference from Jeet India. The person seating me asked my opinion of where I’d like to sit and I ended up toward the front, in view of the o-sushi bar. I was surprised to see a small library sitting on the table with a pencil. O-sushi, sashimi, and dinner menu – that seems a lot, like a small library. My first impression of the menus was that prices were high. The sashimi sampler was $ 12.95. It’s probably a very reasonable price, but I wasn’t ready. I ordered iced tea and soon dubu jjigae, which surprises the waiters and waitresses usually. The iced tea was cold and it wasn’t sweetened. Yay! It didn’t seem busy but the food took a while. When it arrived, I was surprised to see a small pot, 4 side dishes, plus rice, of course. Most places, I get a big pot and 6 side dishes, so it made me wonder. We had a little conversation about picking up the rice bowl and how it was bad manners in Korean restaurants(and homes), and how my friends would give me «the look» when I would pick it up to eat Japanese style. So, I started eating and more than that, I started smiling for the first time in months. It was good! This wasn’t just some Yijo pouch that they opened and heated. The tofu makes a lot of difference(Yijo uses firmer tofu) but this had a lot more seafood than you’ll ever see in a pouch, or most restaurants. The last restaurant to make this dish for me added 1 or 2 shrimp, along with the spices, tofu, and maybe a bit of scallion, but forgot the taste. This jjigae had taste! Oh emm gee, that’s better than big food. The wait staff was attentive and got me tea 3 times, but didn’t interrupt me while I was eating heartily. They were probably stunned to see someone enjoy it so much. It felt like being able to move after being paralysed, and I know how that feels. So, it was 75% good food and 25% good people, and that equals 100% satisfaction, something rare for me.
