I was in the mood for sushi. I had not had sushi since I moved to Dayton in October 2015. I do not think I will come here again. We went midday so it was pretty much empty. Table smelled kind of weird. The miso soup wasn’t great. Appetizers were alright. I had the shrimp tempura and my boyfriend had the spring rolls. Then we had our rolls. They weren’t exceptional or great. They didn’t taste terrible and we were not sick afterward. It was filling. The bill was about 51 which was higher than we were used to in Dayton but fine for what we ordered. I definitely will try other places.

Restaurant review: Monday, Ben N Nguyen and I decided that we want some sushi for lunch. We went to our frequent place: sake japanese steak house & sushi bar(4470 indian ripple road, beavercreek). We never had bad experience with this place before but today the rice was so sour that we couldnt swallow a piece. At 1st both of us thought our mouths have weird taste. Then we realized that the rice was too sour. I wrote a note nicely on the napkin to the cook that there was too much vinegar. But to the point we cant even eat these anymore. I was thinking to myself why do we have to go thru this? I asked to speak to the manager. Guess what she said:” i tasted the rice and there is nothing wrong with it, i eat sushi everyday“ 1. For those who know me, Im not a person who would complain to get free stuffs. I even tipped the waiter because i know it isnt his fault 2. I wouldnt complain if it isnt BAD. Hint i was just gonna leave a note on the napkin 3. Denying and telling the customers that they were wrong is not how you should operate your business. I told the manager that she lost 2 valuable customers and definitely not coming back there. Not because im mad the food, it is because of her management style. I took the rest of the sushi with me and will ask other to try it. Let see if im wrong or she is.

If you’re coming here for the sushi, you’re going to enjoy it! They have a Monday through Thursday half off special for lunch that’s great for experimenting with different flavors if you’re feeling adventurous. The sauce used to top off some of the rolls can be a little sweet for me, but I can see others enjoying it. Also, give the Eel Roll a whirl! On the other hand, if you’re here for the hibachi, I can’t stand behind it. Based on the last time I tried it, the hibachi was horribly under-seasoned. Come for the sushi and drinks, but don’t expect the best. Sake will likely quell any sushi cravings you may have.

The food is okay, but there are better restaurants nearby(Sima and Choe’s to name a couple). Sima even has half-price sushi, like Sake. While the food is good, the service is terrible. After our food was served, we never saw our server again until we were finished eating. That’s a problem if you’re eating spicy wasabi and are out of water. In his defense, he did refill my water when he brought the check. 15 minutes after we were finished eating. This is the third time I have had sub-par or rude service at Sake. I think I’ll just hit up Sima from now on.

Service is terrible. Food okay. Had to wait to order. Order messed up, no napkins, had to steal chopsticks from another table. 2nd time been here, never again

My party of four was attracted to this establishment by the lure of half-off sushi. Parking was easy to find and take. After walking in, we were quickly seated to a booth with two sets of silverware and seat cushions… We ended up snatching the rest from a nearby booth haha. We took a while to finally decide what and how much we wanted to order, but our waiter was very patient with us. I look down at the mini sushi plate that we’ve been given and I see that there is trace of previous food marks; like hardened sauce that has not been fully cleaned off. It wasn’t too noticeable, but I’m actually fairly picky about stuff like this-just thought I’d note. After we had ordered, our server eventually brought out or complimentary salads. The salad was… Bad. To say the least. The lettuce wasn’t fresh/as crisp as ideal, and the dressing definitely looked of being store-bought. It was so liquidy and NOT«grainy» with real ginger at all. It tasted watered down. Little disappointment aside, all of our sushi came out. We ordered a bunch. Salmon-katsu rolls, eel rolls, California rolls, rainbow rolls, soft-shelled crab rolls, spider rolls, dragon rolls, etc. It was. All right. I’ve certainly had better sushi, but it wasn’t too terrible. The sushi was lukewarm. My salmon-katsu roll was half crunchy, half soggy. My brother claimed that he felt a bone in the eel roll as he chewed(although I feel that this happens a lot with any eel roll, really; tiny bones!), and that soft-shell crab was as if it was on its way to hardening haha. Lastly, I thought this was the funniest – my brother-in-law had ordered a crab-stick sushi piece and it was literally just a piece of imitation crab meat slab over half a tablespoon or so of rice! It looked so odd… Sushi should be proportional to the rice! We also thought we’d come for the military or student discount. Having both, I prepared for the waiter. However, he claimed that the discounts were only available with the hibachi. Womp. The website didn’t disclaimer any of that. All of that for ~$ 70… Although it’s half off, everything adds up.

Sake is located off US-35 across the way from The Greene. It is housed in a plaza with Waffle House, K-Mart, Pizza Hut, etc. There’s also plenty of free parking. What lured my family and I into the restaurant was the allure of half off sushi… plus if we could get our military discount added, that would be even better! My family of four was quickly seated into a pretty cool looking booth… but weren’t given enough utensils for four people. Ehh. After some awkward talk with our server, my family and I decided on going for the sushi. We ordered the spider roll, dragon roll, philadeliphia roll, crab stick sushi, rainbow roll… and a few more whose names I can’t recall. I can’t say the sushi was delicious. I can’t even say the sushi was good. The sushi was just ok. Nothing more, nothing less. The only good that came out of the meal was that my H finally got the chance to try Sapporo beer(we haven’t had Japanese in a long while). It definitely wasn’t worth the $ 76 + tip bill that followed. And THAT was half off? Jeez!

First time visitor. Tried carry out on Sushi special with absolutely no complaints. Sushi was very fresh and full flavored and portions were generous. Friendly staff too. Will definitely get carry out again and plan to stop in and try soon Hibachi too…

** FALSEADVERTISEMENT! ** Their website clearly states«Every day — 15% Discount to US Military and Seniors Age 65& Over(with proper ID. Dine in only.)», yet when we went on Wednesday, they completely denied us the discount, even after showing them the discount on their website. The manager then completely ignored us thereafter. Totally unacceptable. Furthermore, the sushi is mediocre at best and the portion size is so small it’s not even worth it, whether it’s half-off or not. The service is just as sub-par as the sushi, we were handed the check before we were even halfway finished eating. Also, their soda is flat and the water taste like tap-water. Trust me when I say, if you want good Japenese, go somewhere other than Sake, at least this one.

I ate here for lunch with my family and had a great experience. The hibachi chef was probably the most talented I’ve ever seen. Food was great and the spicy crispy salmon roll was excellent! Will come back again!

Went shopping in the shopping center, saw the sign for like 30% off sushi and stopped in. It was pretty decent. It didn’t blow my mind or anything, but the price was right. I did enjoy the miso soup that came with my order.

They offer a good deal on sushi(50% off rolls) but the quality matches the price, aka it’s not the best. I really like the hibachi here and that’s what keeps me coming back. Service is usually slow and I’ve run over on my lunch hour several times here so be prepared for a lengthy lunch.

Sake closes at 10pm and my friends and I(2 couples) sat down at 9:10pm. It was 50% off sushi so we ordered 5 rolls and an appetizer. Quality of food at best was a B– to C+. However the portion sizes were smaller than any other sushi restaurant in the area. After we were almost done with our rolls, we wanted to order more because the small portion sizes but were hurried out(I.e. Bills quickly dropped off, cleaning tables and mopping floors around us with still a decent amount of people there, at least 4 tables). Also soda refills came from a pitcher, which was very flat. The bills came and cost $ 5.50 for 2 sodas, but each couple had a soda and a tea… I’ve never spent that much on hot tea in my life, so may have been a mistake. If not, I’ll get water from now on. Actually I won’t, because I doubt I will return. Overall not a great food buzz, but I could’ve overlooked it if the service was better. Try sima, sushi Hana, or Akashi for your sushi fix.

I’ve eaten here more than a dozen times, sometimes hibachi, sometimes dining room, and occasionally carry out. The food has never been less than stellar. Their dinner salads? I could eat five of them! Hot sake is crazy good, although no one else in my party ever likes it. My one and only complaint is if I’m the first person to be seated for hibachi, I’ve got to wait for the rest of the table to fill up before they start on my food. Sometimes that can take awhile and I’m usually STARVING.

Read my other review first… but again, this place has pleasantly surprised me! I have not forgotten of the days when the service and food was terrible here… but those days are gone. This is my second time in a row that I’ve been satisfied with everything. I ordered a seaweed salad, New Orleans roll, Hawaiian roll, avocado roll, and a sashimi dinner. The fish quality is not top notch, but 50%? It’s definitely better than the quality at the Osaka in Huber Heights… and they charge full price. I love love love the New Orleans roll. That’s what keeps me coming back to Sake! Really though, thank you for whatever changes you made. Such a wonderful staff and decent sushi! I’ll probably frequent here more often now.

The servers here are pretty great and very accurate. Took us awhile to get our food tonight but the wait was worth it. Half off sushi and it tasted great! Spicy salmon roll, jaguar roll, spider roll and of course the token Philly roll made for a delicious dinner. Their miso soup was also very satisfying on a cold night.

They advertise ½ price rolls, but truth is, you get ½ of a standard size roll. Service is slow and food is not great. Dirty facilities and poor service.

The thing about Sake is that it is mundane, the service sucks, and its a boring olé’ chain restaurant… but(wait for the drum roll) they have HALFOFF sushi during the week!!! It completely makes up for all their bad qualities when you can order five rolls(two specialty and 3 regular) for $ 20! If money is tight and your pallet is craving sushi hit up Sake on any weekday night!

Sake is really nothing fancy. The service is average. The décor is almost nonexistant. But the food is magical! My chicken was wonderful and cooked to perfection. The rice and veggies were pretty great as well. You get a show with your meal, too, so how could I complain? All-in-all it’s a no nonsense yummy meal.
