I usually have to scrounge to find whats«Dayton» good, but Taco Loco is way above the exception! I’ve eaten burritos and tacos from here but where they captured my heart is their Shredded Pork Quesadillas. The red salsa sauce they add to it enhances the already great dish and makes you craves more. I found myself dreaming of another bite, if you love Mexican food, this is as authentic as it gets!

Always enjoy dining at Taco Loco! Mexican food is authentic, which can be a bit hard to find here in Dayton. A favorite of mine is the carnita burrito, it’s big enough to share with my six year old son. If you like spicy you must try the bistec guisado… I especially love it in a burrito, though it can get a bit messy. The place is small so calling ahead during prime dining can save some time during prime hours. If your a fan of Mexican this is a must try.

Having lived in and out of Mexico for years, I can say this place is as close to the authentic as you will ever get without being South of the border. The tacos are wonderful. So many choices and all so so delicious. Go here. Do it. Or your mom would be disappointed in you.

Easily the most authentic Mexican restaurant in Dayton. The menu focuses on tacos but is phenomenal al. Highly recommend.

Wow. This was my 2nd visit. The last time was months ago, yet when we arrived tonight and my friends were telling the waitress that we hadn’t been there before, she shook her head and pointed to me, remembering that I had been there and that I loved the carnitas. Amazing, but the quality of the food is even better. She was right I do love the carnitas, but tonight I had the chorizo quesadilla. I’m a big guy and was hungry tonight, but barely ate half of it… massive portion and delicious. The chorizo was nicely browned and crunchy. I also tried the guacamole tonight and fell in love, likewise with the flan. My friends enjoyed both traditional tacos and tacos locos and the tres leche cake. Our meal was rounded out by Mexican Coke, and the wonderful flavored sodas, mine was grapefruit. My 2nd visit has me committed to becoming a regular here. If the neighborhood, or the décor bother you please stay at the suburban Taco Bell, this place is for those of us who love funky, home style eating. Great good and psychic servers, what more could anyone want?

This is not Tex mex, one of my favorite places to get Mexican food, great portions and great price.

Sure, the exterior is not exactly eye catching, but it’s definitely what’s on the inside that counts at Taco Loco! You won’t find a variety of Americanized Mexican food on the menu here(think Abuelos, Don Pablos, even El Toro). Taco Loco is very authentic. This was my second visit here. I decided to introduce some coworkers to the quaint restaurant after having a successful dinner of carne asada tacos here. The tacos are al carte and around $ 2/piece, so it’s easy to get a quick, cheap, and filling lunch. Today I opted to try the carne asada burrito — a soft tortilla stuffed with rice, beans, steak, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and sour cream. Delicious! Very flavorful and very filling for under $ 6. Everyone in the group was satisfied with their meals respectively and we are all anxious to throw this into our regular lunch rotation. Keep in mind the dining room is rather small here, so you’ll more than likely have to wait on a table during typical lunch hours. Also, they are temporarily a cash only restaurant according to the multiple signs inside today.

This place is fantastic. We are a touring band who loves Mexican food. This place is very authentic and extremely affordable. Currently cash only, but well worth the trip to the atm. We got Their tacos, burritos, quesadillas… each one was delicious. And the hot sauce they put on the table is top notch flavor. I only wish I had more food to put it on.

This place by far has the best tacos in Dayton. I highly suggest getting the cilantro/onion tacos and not the lettuce/tomato ones. One would have very low expectations by the looks of the place but don’t be fooled!!! The most authentic and reasonably priced cuisine Dayton has to offer.

A little hole-in-the wall taqueria. Cheap and ample portions. The employees are very nice, but if spotless cleanliness is your thing you might have to overlook some things. I also find it odd there is usually an employee during the middle of the day picking through/eating out of a giant tub of some liquid corn dish at a table in the dining area. But the portions! Very generous. The various meats in the tacos tend to run a little on the dry side and are not naturally as juicy as others. A good little taqueria… not in my opinion the best in town, but will definitely do when in this neighborhood.

Pretty comparable to Taqueria Mixteca: good, authentic Mexican. Living in the Southwest for several years, I have fairly high standards when it comes to authentic Mexican. Yet Taco Loco delivers, especially for being in Ohio. Their guacamole is stand-out, easily the highlight of my meal. I ordered the carne asada quesadillas, and let me warn you. These are big boy quesadillas. When the server brought out my dish, my eyes enlarged. The size of it was loco! I haven’t had any burritos that were are as large as this. The server laughed at my shock and asked if it was my first time there. Sadly, yes, yes it was. The food was pretty good, not quite at the level of my favorite CO or NM spots, but definitely good. It contained all the fixings you would expect: meat, rice, beans and cheese. They used quality ingredients, fairly flavorful and not too greasy. The steak fell apart a little more than I would have liked, but hey, no real complaints. When you are eating a school bus’ worth of food for $ 6.5, you tend to be happy. The service was great, fast and friendly. I appreciated how she left a pitcher of water for us without even asking. I tend to drink like a camel when engorging myself. Overall, Taco loco is a classic example of ‘don’t judge a book by its cover’. It’s exterior may look drab, but the food sure isn’t. Come in and stay a while.

If you are looking for real homestyle mexican food this place is for you. I am use to the mexican taco shop from California and have missed them greatly. This is the first place In the seven years I have been here to have captured it. There is no American influence and no tex mex just real delicious tacos and chili relenos.

Pretty good Mexican food! Both the carne asada burrito and the tacos here were good. Between the carnitas and the al pastor, I liked the al pastor more, but I would still order the carnitas if they ran out of al pastor. The rice and beans were also good. The only problem was that they take awhile to cook the food. I got here right when they opened at 11, and was the second person to order. I didn’t get my takeout order until half an hour later. And by then the whole restaurant was full and no one had their food. All they had were chips and water. There were lots of parking for this place, and I would come back!

I came here a few days ago. We got the green enchiladas and 3 tacos, carnitas, tripe, and al pastor. I prefer the tripe and al pastor over the carnitas but everything was super delicious with great price!

The wife and I are big fans of authentic Mexican fare, not your cheese covered, Tex-Mex slop passed off as Mexican food. Upon the recommendation of a Dayton local, we went to Taco Loco for an early Friday night dinner. Taco Loco isn’t much to look at from the street. It isn’t much better in terms of aesthetics on the inside, either. I considered this to be a very good thing as we discovered the good people at Taco Loco were focused on two things, food and service. We arrived around 4:30pm. We were seated immediately. With a single exception, we largely had the dining room to ourselves. However, as it approached 5pm, there continued to be a steady stream of customers coming in for carryout orders as well as to dine-in. Our friendly server brought over the obligatory, complimentary basket of chips and salsa. While the chips weren’t anything special, both the green and red salsas were quite remarkable, with red having a nice heat without overwhelming the other flavors in it. Our server was especially attentive, as he anticipated our need and brought over a small pitcher of water, which he left on our table for us, to refill our own glasses at will. For my meal, I ordered four tacos, the Mollejas(gizzards), Lengua(tongue), and Tripas(tripe), $ 2.10 each; and carnitas(braised pork), $ 1.95. Each of the tacos were of decent size, filled with an ample amount of tender and flavorful meat, and garnished with fresh onion and cilantro. It was a taste bud fiesta! Seriously, the tacos were real winners in my book and better tasting and a better value than anything I had in the DC area where we used to live. The wife’s enchiladas were equally delicious and a solid value… but I’ll let her describe her own experience. In summation, Taco Loco has earned my future business. You get lots of great, authentic Mexican food that doesn’t shy away from providing layers of flavor for a very reasonable price. I know I’ll be back soon on a weekend when they offer Menudo and Pozole.

While at a local restaurant near our house, the waiter told my husband and I about this very small«local» Mexican food place not too far away. He told us it was authentic and really good. He wasn’t wrong. I’ll let my husband review his, but I did sample his tacos and i have to say, they were excellent! I got the enchiladas with rojo sauce and the meat I decided on was guisado. The rojo sauce was a delight — very thick and a dark red/brown(I immediately think mole). It had all the right spices with just the right amount of heat. The staff was very friendly and when we were leaving, the cook was behind the counter. She asked how I liked the rojo and told me if I liked that, next time try the verde. I think I will — soon(though if it is on the weekend I may have to try the posole too)!

Best bang for the buck Mexican restaurant and beats many LA taco stands I go to. Carne asada tacos are much better than Taqueria Mixteca. Fish tacos are amazing. Wait times at lunch can be very slow. Will miss this place when we move this summer.

I hadn’t been to Taco Loco in about two years because it’s not really in a location that I visit too much. But I was in the area, and after my visit yesterday, I seriously regret not coming here more often. While the interior isn’t necessarily high end, the food makes up for it. I suggest take out, as there are no more than ten tables, which are usually occupied. I highly recommend the Tacos Locos Al Pastor. The sweet(cinnamon) and savory flavors of the pork pair incredibly well with the small pieces of pineapple and the homemade corn tortillas. I haven’t tried anything but the tacos, but they’re the reason I returned after two years! The staff can be friendly most of the time but everyone has their off days and my visit yesterday included a somewhat grumpy cashier. I feel like the people who complain about this place have never actually had authentic Mexican food and are simply used to Americanized versions, so don’t be swayed by those one-star reviews!

I came here during a Lenten Friday since I couldn’t eat meat. Usually Mexican joints have ceviche and fish/shrimp tacos… so I decided to give this place a shot. Food: Unfortunately, they did NOT have any ceviche :(They didn’t have any shrimp/fish tacos on their menu either. But because it was Lent, they had a special sign for shrimp/fish tacos. I ordered two shrimp tacos and one fish taco with onions and cilantro. The tortillas were really hard on the sides… which could be a sign of it being old or being left outside for too long. I didn’t like the fish at all — can’t really pinpoint what it was, but it tasted off to me. The shrimp tacos were okay, no flavoring. Service: It took us 45+ minutes to get all of our food. It was weird because they served our foods all at different times. It would be okay if it came right after the other, but there were 10 minute intervals between the three of us getting our food. It took even longer because they prepared the wrong order for me… so they had to go back to the kitchen and make it again. Would not come here again.

While I think that Taqueria Mixteca is the best Taqueria in Dayton(both locations being close to equal in food quality), Taco Loco comes in a close second or third, depending on how you count the other two. The location is pretty standard: in the parking lot of a run down and dreary looking shopping area. It’s a no frills experience, walk in, sit down, get some chips deliverd. There is no bowl of salsa, just the two salsa squeeze bottles with red and green salsas for you to squirt directly onto the chips. The salsas aren’t as good as the could be, but they’re pretty tasty and the red packs more heat than others in the area. Green seems a bit lifeless, but still seems to serve it’s purpose when placed on a taco. The Tripas here are the best I’ve had in Dayton, so I won’t let that go unnoticed. They also have mollejas(chicken gizzard) here, which is unique in this area, and are quite good. Service is far quicker here than at the 3rd street Taqueria Mixteca location, so that’s a pretty big bonus. Prices are quite low. All in all, it’s a solid Taqueria, and one I will return to when in the area.
