I heard great things about Tanks. It was on triple D. But I was disappointed. Yes, they have a huge bottle beer selection. But not much on tap. It’s winter so they had three stouts, one porter and a winter lager and a wheat. I’m used to taco Mac where a huge selection on tap is like 50 beers. I order the fish and chips platter and really got two small pieces of frozen«Gordon fisherman«size fish sticks and a plate full of fries — the coleslaw came so late I had forgotten about it. So for 11 bucks I got fries. The wait service was not good either. I don’t know why I tipped her — I had to run her down after waiting 20 minutes on a beer after everyone got theirs. It just wasn’t me either, she seemed to get lost and never come back. My friends were not impressed with their food either. The only thing that looked decent was the chili. The bartender even looked tired and it was only 700 — don’t think I’ll be back.

Great for a «burger and a beer” – the turkey club is also good. Standard pub fare, modest beer selection Friendly staff. :-)

I love this place! The food is reliably good and the portions, huge. And where else can you get a good omelet served with a shot of Jameson first thing in the morning? The burgers are excellent as well. Yum!

Tanks is the best dive bar I’ve ever been to. Their food is always amazing and if an error is ever made they resolve it as quickly as possible. The portion size is amazing especially for the price and quality of the food. One of my favorite items are the pepper jack cheese sticks and I order them almost every time I go there. If you visit Dayton or live here you definitely need to eat at tanks!

Old, run-down, and recent experience, the service«ain’t what it used to be.» It was a busy night in town, and most other places were packed. We were able to get in here. It served its purpose.

If you’re looking for home cooking and good drinks at great prices, then Tanks is the place. They serve breakfast to dinner and they’re open in the wee hours so you can stop in almost anytime. All the wait staff is great but Amy is our favorite! She makes a mean modified side car with Makers instead of Hennessy and she’s always attentive and smiling. We like the fried chicken, chicken salad with chips and dip and the chicken noodle soup. The BLT, the Turkey Club and Rueben are good too!

I was looking for a good place to meet a friend for Sunday morning breakfast. I knew the best places would be packed. Tank’s was very busy because it is very good, but the staff got us seated as quickly as possible and kept us informed about how long it would be. Breakfast was good and it was a good atmosphere.

I cant comment on the food because we weren’t there long enough to order. We were told when we came in to pick a table. The only one available had dirty plates and napkins all over. We sat there for 5 minutes watching three different waitresses walk by and not even look at us. Needless to say we didn’t eat.

Wow. Whoever voted this places chili as good needs to check their pallet. Come on. Had the nachos with everything. Presentation was good, but chili was horrible. I also had the road kill hot dog with everything. I swear to you it was all bread. The bun was a good inch and a half on each side. I had to break off the sides to eat it. I’ve been here a few times and the food has been OK. I believe this place is soo worked up and when new people try it, it’s just mediocre. Ending, the coffee was good and the waitress was very nice. Don’t get me wrong, I love mom and pop places. Food was just not to my liking. Food shows well, but lacks the taste.

I can appreciate that it’s a local chain and that everyone in Dayton loves this place, but to me, the food is just OK. I can think of many other local restaurants I’d rather visit, personally.

Went in for breakfast. Kinda has a funky smell when you first walk in. Ordered the biscuits and gravy, not that great. The only reason I gave 3 stars instead of 2 is their staff. Very friendly and not too attentive.

Just had lunch at Tanks. For almost 10 years I have gone there for the turkey hotshot on Tuesdays and Thursday’s. They have changed the recipe. The gravy was way to thick and had a hint of sour to it. The turkey on the sandwich is now sliced and dry. I will not be ordering this dish again. I don’t know if it is more economical to make it this way or easier for the kitchen but they have ruined one of their specials.

Tanks is a great bar/restaurant. We have been here many times. The food is great. The hours of the bar is good for public service and industry workers. They are open early and open late. Today we had great food… pizza, wings, cheese sticks, cheese bacon fries, and a cheeseburger. The service from the waitress was not the best. She was very friendly but did not remember easy stuff like bringing hot sauce and ranch. We had ordered cheese and bacon fries but she brought us chili cheese fries. She brought my husbands beer to the 80 year old guy at the table next to us. The old guy asked us if the beer was supposed to be ours lol. She tried to charge us for an extra beer… we caught it. Again… she was very friendly. We usually never have bad service at Tanks so do not let this review make or break your choice of coming here.

Tanks is a Dayton Institution. I went to U.D.(Go Flyers!) and loved to visit Tanks whenever I had a little extra cash. Now I try to visit whenever I’m in town. The Chili is top notch. It’s very meaty and I love to put it on my hash browns at breakfast. The Breakfast/Brunch is amazing. Well priced and large portions. They have a small draft beer selection but a great selection of bottles and cans. The service is top notch. They are always busy but everyone is friendly and the service is fast. This is a perfect example of a friendly, locally owned, one of a kind, Bar & Grill.

I’ve been going to Tank’s off-and-on for years, but I started spending a lot more time here while working a job where I didn’t get off until midnight. There aren’t a lot of places in Dayton that keep their kitchens open late, and Tank’s serves food until 2am on weeknights, and I’m both too young and too old to be a fixture at Waffle House, dammit. Portion size is decidedly the name of the game. The french fries are only so-so(even though the menu describes them as «famous») but you get a LOT of them. Same deal for the omelettes or biscuits and gravy. The burgers are pretty tasty(and again, huge), and if you ask nicely, they’ll put sawmill gravy on your waffles. I’m a bit dissapointed with their jukebox. They have one of those digital jobs with thousands of songs, but they filter out most country and hiphop. Dammit, Tanks, what if I’m in a groove and I REALLY want to listen to both«Big Pimpin» AND«Mama Tried» while I eat my wings? The situation comes up more often than you’d think.

When you arrive in town(Dayton, Ohio) and it’s after 11PM and you’re used to Virginia where if you’re open and serving drinks, the kitchen, by law is also open. So after being nicely told«I’m sorry we closed the kitchen at 10PM» you finally find Tank’s. Yay! So, my wife and I had burgers and fries, pretty darn good, too, mi might add. So At about 11:30 after driving over 600 miles, we ate. I would have given Tanks 3 stars for simply having food available. So if it’s late and you’re hungry in Dayton or of a morning want brunch/breakfast and a great one I might add… you just might want to stop in. What’s interesting is that location has been a bar and restaurant since at least the 50’s. That’s well before I ever went into a bar but remember it well because I passed it daily.

Pros: Get A LOT of food for a small amount of money, great place to go for any meal, great place to take friends and family, staff is very friendly, food is yummy Cons: When it comes to seating, you’re on your own… Which is horrible on crowded days.

Tanks is a great breakfast stop. Today, I stopped in after mass and had breakfast. I ordered country gentleman(3 eggs, serving of either ham, bacon or sauage and toast). It was prepared just as I had ordered. I ordered at the bar, Heather, the barkeep, was friendly and attentive. I totally recommend Tanks
