About what you would expect. Staff are friendly. Room seemed clean to me. We didn’t notice the bugs others mentioned. The loud bar with drunk assholes singing next door is a huge problem. Because of the bar, and only because of the bar, we wouldn’t stay here again.

This place gets two stars simply because of the location. Close to the boardwalk, restaurants and right on the water. As far as the actual Hotel, I honestly can say that I have been to motels in the inner city in much better conditions. The building is run down and is in need of a major renovation. I don’t recommend staying here more then 1 night. College frat party environment, so don’t expect any sleep, not a place I would recommend taking your family.

Very dirty hotel with bed bugs and roaches. We had breakfast their and it was awful. What a waste of money. I never stayed at a hotel that was this bad. Oh they charge a resort fee!

Pros: Front desk was helpful and efficient Location was good Cons: Bugs! I checked in at midnight after a long flight from California and then a long drive from Orlando, so it was pretty much too late and I was too tired to go elsewhere(but I considered it). I ended up sleeping with my hoodie on and my bags on the table hoping nothing got inside! Filthy! The carpet was so disgusting I wish I had something other than flip flops to wear on my feet. The hallway had bags of trash and it smelled like an ashtray. The plus side, they told me the hotel was being renovated so let’s hope that includes pest control and new housekeeping staff

Rooms were not very clean. Areas by the windows had plentiful of deadbugs, etc! Bathroom was also not very clean. Found some hair and just not a clean feeling walking in there. Didn’t find anything disgusting on the bed but certainly felt like it surrounded by other dirty environment. Front staff were not bad. Disappointing — won’t stay here again.

This is a place to stay if you plan to be out all night partying on the beach like during Spring Break, Bike Week, etc. For a family vacation… DEFINITELYNOT! Reasons why: — Ocean’s Deck party 24⁄7. All you hear inside the hotel is bass and music. Motorcycles in parking lot gather and rev engines for 10 –20 minutes at a time. — Bugs, bugs, bugs. Housekeeping is non-existance at this place. Long dark hair found in the bathroom. One room had no toliet paper. Carpet in bathroom(which is never good) was damp and smelled of mold. — When the Ocean Deck party ends at 2am the party moves to the Mayan Inn. Sound travels easily from room to room. Listening to drunk people from 2am — 5am when they finally pass out is not as much fun as it sounds. — Breakfast is a joke. Enough said. As I said, if you are looking for a drunk party place you have found it. Families with young kids… keep moving on.

Two friends and I stayed here in May of this 2012 year for a night, before we were able to get to our scheduled time-share rental room. My friend picked it bc it had a pool, was right on the water, had an oceanfront view and was pretty cheap. She also liked that it included a free continental breakfast. Let’s break it down: –Nice staff, friendly and no attitude –rooms need much work and a re-vamp. Bathroom is just dated and small as all hell. The small coffee maker had a dead and dried up bug in the filter. I pleasantly told my friends it was part of roach. YUM –sheets were itchy, starchy type that were not the most comfortable nor invoked images of freshness. Bedspread was definitely dirty FEELING so that went on the floor immediately. Happy of the lack of bed bugs though! –we did NOT get the oceanfront view that we had asked for(and i think paid for.) Instead I had a prime view of oceandeck, complete with their music playing 24⁄7. Yes, all day and ALLNIGHT. Luckily though, we drank a heafty amount that night.(.at Oceandeck hahahaha) and had plenty of food that put us in a light coma: therefore drowning out the noise from 2am until we woke up, to it still going at 10am –pool wasn’t bad but who wants to use that when you can walk off the pool deck area and you are right on the sand. AMAZING! Best part of the motel/hotel by far –Continental breakfast was a LIE. It was cereal and toast. Really disappointed in this because we wanted a hearty b-fast of at least something warm. Nope. This is not the place for families or people obsessed with hygeine, or cannot stand noise and partiers. Its more on the level of a Jersey Shore type spot, for teens and 20’s who don’t mind the nightlife and are just staying to crash here at night, not have a «wholesome» vacation.

My husband and I stayed at the Mayan Inn in 2011 and thought it was a great place for not only location, but service and room quality as well. We returned for a night in January 2012, and it will probably be the last time we visit this hotel. I paid a little extra to book an Oceanfront King Bed room. All was as we remembered, front desk was friendly and efficient. I found the $ 5 per day parking fee a little ridiculuous. Once we got in the room our opinions greatly changed. We stayed in room 704. The condition as far as updates in the room were adequate compared to our last stay, but with a few unpleasant changes. The bathroom mirror hadn’t been cleaned, so a stranger’s tooth paste scum stared back at us. There was a razor form the previous tenant(or perhaps maid?) left on the bathroom vanity as well. The outside of the mini-fridge was covered in a white substance, it almost looked like paint, but can’t be certain, and I was afraid to touch it to find out. Yes, Ocean Deck was loud and so was the AC in the room, but that’s not a big deal. The worst part was the sheets. They were as clean as you can expect a Daytona Beach hotel under 4 starts to be, but the smell, oh my gosh the smell. The sheets smelled like they were washed in seafood. Not the nice hint of the sea that a lot of beach side hotels have, but like I was sleeping in a plate of Shrimp Scampi. My husband and I both bathed before going to bed, so it wasn’t us! It was the sheets! We made it a late night on the town, so by the time we got to bed it was late, and we were too tired to go through calling the front desk and having the sheets changed for our 1 nights stay. To say the least it was neausating, and we slept on top of the covers. The location is great, but the upkeep is greatly lacking. I also thought $ 95.00 was a little pricey for a hotel room in off season, even if it was«ocean front» on the 7th floor

I’ve stayed at the Mayan a few times during bike week. It is one of the more affordable options in spite of its’ great location. Location – 5 stars – on the ocean and a 5 minute walk, stumble or crawl from Main street Staff – 4 stars– They are always helpful polite and friendly. Condition – 2 stars – getting worn Total – I’m with Chris G at 2.5 stars. This is a former Best Western and is now own by a group that has a number of Daytona properties. It is a typical older beach hotel. Think Motel 6 on the water. The lobby is plenty nice, the pool is ok. The rooms are reasonably clean but really showing some wear. The metal surfaces and balconies are pitted and discolored from the salt air. They have just started what looks to be a major renovation. I expect it will be some improved by the spring. I’d suggest it as a good bet for bike week, spring break, a guys weekend but, probably not for a family vacation.

2.5 stars Location, location, location… That’s the main saving grace for this hotel. The other, being the fact that each room has it’s own oceanfront balcony. I happened to stay here on a weird cusp night– it was the last day of bike week, and the first night of spring break. Im too young for bike week, and a little too old for spring break. The bar next door jams music outside so blaringly loud that I wanted to shoot myself. Finally at two a.m. they stopped. The rooms and the hotel itself are kind of dingy. The pool seemed okay, but I didnt get in– there was a group of about 10 guys in there for hours drinking, without one of them getting out; I’m surprised the water wasnt yellow. But if you need a somewhat cheap option in Daytona, on the beach, this would suffice… But perhaps for just a night.
