What a great place! Definitely enjoyed our time here. We came here on a Friday night around 6:30 pm. The four of us waited about 10 minutes to get seated. They sat us outside which was really nice since the weather was great that day. In any case, our waitress was very nice and welcoming. We ordered the calamari for our appetizer and everyone really liked it. Crunchy on the outside and not too chewy on the inside. Very good indeed. For my entrée, I ordered the crab cakes with french fries and grilled veggies and shared it with a friend. The crab cakes were good. Not exactly lump crab meat but still lots of crab meat in the crab cakes. The fries were also good — well cooked. The grilled vegetables were ok. It tasted a little fishy actually so I’m not sure it’s supposed to taste like that. But oh well. Our friends got the crab cake sandwich and the rockfish with lump crab meat and they both said that it was really good. So yeah, definitely try this place out! We were very happy that we did =)

Father’s day early dinner was ruined today. First and foremost, I will say our server was great. I forget his name but he was younger guy with short curly blonde hair. He provided excellent service. The food on the hand was a disappointment. We ordered multiple plates of food. The first was a half pound of steamed shrimp. They were cold and had no old bay. The second was a crab cake platter. For 20 bucks, give us more than a small burnt crab cake and 2 tiny sides. The third was the taste of the bay trio(I think i got the name right) everything was cold and the clams casino was extremely greasy. I actually pressed on the clams in front of the manager and she watched the grease pour onto my plate. Then comes the manager. We told her all of the complaints and she says to us «so what do you want me to do? I can’t replace something just because you don’t like it. Not liking something is merely a personal preference and I can’t just let you order off the menu like crazy hoping you’ll like something.» I told her«well that’s what you do. It’s called customer service.» She walked away and our check ended up being comped. We tipped our server thanking him for his service and apologizing for his managers behavior. This restaurant really let us down especially on Father’s day of all days. We will not being coming back.

Great little place right on the water. Fresh seafood and ice cold beer. What more can you ask for on a hot summer’s day…

Our server, Cara, was excellent but everything else was an absolute failure. We waited 20 minutes for a table past our reservation time for our group of 10. We waited 45 minutes for our first round of drinks and over an hour and a half for our meals. Two appetizers and one main were never delivered. Three of the meals were inedible because the oysters were poor quality. After we complained about the bill, they accused one person in our party of being drunk and refused to discount the bill initially. After we complained a second time, they agreed to take some of the entrees off. It took another 20 minutes for the checks to arrive. Huge disappointment and hope they get their act together for the rest of the summer.

We just discovered this beautiful waterfront community, Deale. After taking a look at cute houses, we came across this highly recommended seafood restaurant in Unilocal. We stopped by and went back for the second time. The first time we ordered one dozen of medium crabs and they were excellent. All of them were fresh, thick meat and the crabs were not watery. The second time, we ordered the crabs again. But some of them are not fresh and we got replacement. I’m still a fan. The deck is pleasant place to sit and enjoy the evening.

One bite of a crab cake gave me the shits. Imagine what a whole one would have done… Food here is old. The crab is gray and fishy. The fried foods are cold and soggy. The salads are watery and flavorless. The sauces are from a can. The dressings are too. The servers don’t know what they are doing. This whole restaurant is a hot mess.

This one of our go-to places on the water. The new owners have really stepped up the food game. The menu has some great choices, we often just order a few apps and that is more than enough. But they do a great job on the entrees too. $ 2.50 crabs on Tuesday nights with cheap beer is a pretty good draw too, and the crabs are always decent. Make sure to have at least one drink out at the dock bar, the bartenders are the best around! Love this place.

Excellent crab cakes in an authentic, casual environment. If your up for chillaxing, you’ll love Skippers. The fries are great too !!

Went here on a Spring Friday evening. A group of us, six people. We sat outside and had a lovely, casual dinner. Drinks came a bit late, waited maybe fifteen min for a server to even appear. But the ambience made it like, «who cares»? While enjoying drinks some of us strolled the pier, nice convo times, photo opps, watch the ducks, etc. It was fun to climb the steps above the outdoor bar, beautiful scenic view of boats and water! Very Long wait for any food or service NONE of which mattered. Just wouldn’t want to go there starving expecting to eat right away. I ordered the scallops and shrimp. Huge shrimp and huge scallops, delicious. Pasta with it had bread and so much sauce it was soupy. Still loved it. Friends all got the buffet. They ate for hours! The buffet didn’t appeal to me though because of no sides, it was seafood galore but just bread with it. Drinks were reasonably priced but my beer was not cold enough! Downer.

We’ll definitely return. We loved the view! My husband had the Filet with Crabmeat & Grilled shrimp(deveined, but not butterflied). He enjoyed it! The Cream of Crab Soup was also really delicious. I really like my Fish Tacos(fried) too. The Fried Green Tomatoes were okay – not as good as I hoped they’d be – the shrimp that’s on top were too«fishy» for my palate, and we thought that the infamous Cheddar Biscuits were just okay…

Stopped in for crab crusted oysters and these deserve a 5+ rating. Steamed mussels were eh… okay. Extra points for the ambiance. You know you are on cheshire when you are at Skippers. Well worth the trip!

Sat out on the new pier deck I don’t like that you have to go up to the bar to get service at a table. If I’m sitting down the waitress should just come over to the table, giving my credit card is not a problem to secure the bill I’m sure they’ve had drunks walk out on there tabs. Ordered fish tacos they were great ask for some extra sour cream sauce on the side. Also had the rock fish dish had fried green tomatoes corn relish and crab meat it was also wonderful. We will return everything looks good.

Came here if: You’re in Deale and want some good food Stay away if: you don’t like fish? Actually, no reason to stay away My wife and I stayed in Deale for 2 days as we had an AirBnB on one of the waterfront properties. It was beautiful but our hesitation booking the place was the remote location and potential lack of good food. Fortunately, Skippers Pier is an amazing restaurant and one of the best meals we had in our 10 day east coast trip(including all the food we ate in NY and DC). We had the shrimp scampi which was very buttery, and I mean it probably had a stick of buttery in it, but still delicious. The scallops were very soft, fresh and tasty. Shrimp had a nice crunch and well seasoned. Also tried their chocolate cake which was OK; it was a big tough and not as cakey and moist and I generally prefer. The Salted Caramel ice cream was actually much better than the cake itself since it wasn’t too salty and had a nice balance of flavors. We came on Sunday night, around 9pm and there was no wait. In fact, there was almost no body in the restaurant. Service was prompt and our server was friendly and attentive. Highly recommend Skippers Pier, worth the drive and experience.

The view alone earns Skippers Pier 4 stars! The Country Gravy Poutine was amazing and the Chesapeake Chicken Club was very good. The only thing keeping this place from 5 stars was the service, it was very slow.

(UPDATED, SEEBOTTOMOFREVIEW) My experience with seafood places on the Bay has been spotty — the Crab Claw in St. Michael’s has declined, Buddy’s in Annapolis was never that good — so I was so very pleasantly surprised with our experience at Skipper’s. We were initially a bit concerned that they close at 9pm(we often eat late), and that the overflow parking was crammed. But we were lucky and found a spot up front, walked in, and had no wait! On a Saturday night! Thanks be to the crab Gods! We sat outside, which was amazing, and knew right away we wanted steamed crabs. They had a dozen large for $ 75, which was great, though after eating three each we knew we had ordered too many. I would recommend a half dozen if you’re ordering other things(corn, fries, etc.), or a dozen smalls or mediums. Fortunately, we took our extra home and made awesome crab omelets the next day. The beverage prices are on-point — I think my Boh was $ 3 or $ 4, which was awesome, and our server was attentive without being overbearing. We were even treated to a fireworks display across the creek! Skipper’s is definitely the place to go for a good old Maryland crab feast! UPDATED: We took my boyfriend’s sisters here because they had never picked crabs before, and had basically the exact opposite experience that he and I had a month earlier. We were seated inside, which is fine, but our server was basically gone the entire time. We were also right next to the kitchen entrance, which made it really hard to carry on a conversation at the table(super loud, servers dropping off dishes, silverware, shouting into the kitchen, etc.). Our food took forever to come out, despite the restaurant being nearly empty, and it was brought to the table at random times(my mom had nothing to eat for close to 15 minutes). The crabs themselves were mediums, but I really wondered if they were smalls. They were also WAY overcooked, making it difficult to get the meat out, and the meat was tough and rubbery. It was a really disappointing experience, and quite different from our first trip.

We recently moved to the Chesapeake Bay area and have been looking for places on the water that have good food, in addition to an amazing view. This place did just that! We had the soft shell crab sandwich special — amazing, and the rockfish with fried green tomatoes. The food was perfect, and the view even better. Love that the restaurant has several options of where to sit-inside, patio, inside bar, or our favorite — the outside bar. The outside bar is covered, has several TVs. We’ll definitely be back!

A fun casual seafood eatery. It is located right on the Chesapeake and service is generally okay. The orange crush is delicious and they have specials on different days of the week. We went on a Tuesday evening for $ 2.50 crabs and $ 2 beers. 4 stars.

Went here on a Tuesday night and got the BBQ ribs and he fried shrimp dinner. The ribs were really good and so were the shrimp. They even had gluten free beer during happy hour so this was a good stop. The bartenders were really friendly and made suggestions on the food and they didn’t steer us wrong. Great view of the water, good food and friendly people working there. What else do you need!

New management since the last time I had been here = better food and more options. The service is still painfully slow however, depending on who you get, so be prepared for that. They have the standard dock food: crabs, shrimp, mussels and oysters, plus lots of hearty options like steak and fried chicken. I love sitting outside on the deck and watching the sun set. Skippers is a must visit at least once if you find yourself in the area.

This restaurant is an absolute gem in the quaint town of Deale, MD. The restaurant is at the end of a street in a very quiet and lovely beach community where folks in their yards wave to you as you pass them by. The restaurant… it’s very casual and the staff are friendly and accommodating. There is outdoor seating(picnic tables) with umbrellas. It’s a perfect location for enjoying good seafood on a nice, sunny day, afternoon or evening. The drinks… on point. I ordered a dirty banana and my beaufriend ordered a piña colada. They were perfectly blended with just the right amount of alcohol. The food… absolutely fabulous! We ordered two appetizers 1) the pups and biscuits that were too yummy for words and 2) the crab balls that were amazing(and fried) with no filler. YUMMY! I ordered the Alaskan King Crab steamer that includes red potatoes and white corn soaking in a scrumptious garlicky butter concoction(melted in my mouth!!) The King Crabs were amazing! Very sweet and fresh! The corn and potatoes were fresh and delicious too! The meal also came with tasty garlic bread. There was NO way I could finish all of that food, so I took what WE couldn’t eat, home. My beaufriend ordered the blackened crabcake sandwich that was seasoned to perfection! The sandwich was accompanied by perfectly seasoned fries! Delicious! We will DEFINITIVELY return to order more off of the extensive menu to include crabs. Based on the crab orders from other patrons, they looked perfectly seasoned and fresh as well! Great find! The service was outstanding too!
