Elite Looks

I’ve needed a haircut for a few weeks now and had some spare time yesterday. I opened up the Unilocal app on my phone and searched for salons in my area. Elite Looks was the only one that came up that had reviews. After reading them, I figured I’d give them a try. I just needed a trim, anyway.
I was greeted by a friendly stylist named Missy. First I asked if they had any open availability, because I didn’t have an appointment. Luckily they did. Normally I’d make an appointment but the parking lot looked empty so I took a chance.
I explained I was just looking for a trim and we got started with a relaxing hair wash. After that, I was led to Missy’s station and told her what I wanted. She cut my hair kinda quick, which seemed too good to be true (I’ve got thick Armenian hair… haircuts usually aren’t this fast when they’re done correctly.) but after looking it over in the mirror at home later, I found she did a really great job. Everything looks even and my hair feels a lot better.
As for price, Elite Looks was very affordable. The wash/​cut/​dry was only $ 15. The salon itself was a little bare. It could use a little decorations on the inside to soften up the space a little, but overall it worked for me. It wasn’t a luxury salon by any means but it was inviting enough to make me feel welcomed and want to come back again.
There’s still work to be done with my hair. I could have gotten more than a trim, but with a wedding coming up, I wanted to ensure my hair is long enough to achieve the hairstyle I’m going for. After my wedding, though, I’ll come back to Elite Looks so Missy can take off more than an inch and make my hair healthy again.

I’m going to have to agree with Gia D’s review of Elite Looks as it is a wonderful salon.
She hit the nail on the head with the term «unassuming» when it comes to the appearance of the place. Very plain and dated décor. The entire staff was friendly and great to chat with during my appointment. I have visited Lauren 2 or 3 times for a wash/​cut/​style job, as well as an eyebrow waxing. She was nothing short of amazing. Very attentive and precise when it came to my cut and style and again I have to agree with Gia, literally THE BEST shampoo I have ever received. The prices are beyond low compared to the other «trendy» salons in the Detroit-​area. Like ridiculously low. Highly recommended.

I went to Elite Looks on the recommendation of a friend who had a great experience there, and I’ll have to second that recommendation.
The salon itself looks very unassuming; no pretentious vibe whatsoever. In fact, I’d be willing to wager that no décor updates have been done since the mid 90’s.
Lauren was a wonderful stylist; one of THE best shampoos I have ever had, and she has a great personality and sense of humor. Her appearance was a huge contrast to the place: kind of a punky/​rocker type chick with a very edgy sense of style. The prices for everything are far less then you would pay at a trendy Royal Oak/​Birmingham salon, and I think the service and skill is even better! Way to go, Lauren! I’ll definitely be back.
