Needed suntan tights for the little one. They were out of them. I asked would they be getting more the shop person told me they don’t order a lot of them because the schools in their area wear the other shade. Basically they don’t cater to darker shades dance schools. Not cool at all. Will not go back!

My mom called me today after she went to Lynch’s, she knew I was still in the market for a Halloween costume and said the prices were right. I went there later in the day and went right up to the second floor, where the costumes are. I had so much fun looking through all of the funky old costumes! They had all kinds of stuff… queens and kings, pirates, civil war, hippies, etc. I stumbled upon the rack of poodle skirts and was pleased with the selection, they had several colors and sizes. From teeny tiny to plus size. The poodle skirt was $ 25 to rent and $ 30 to buy and comes with a poofy underskirt and neck scarf. My mom and I love to collect Halloween costumes so I was more than excited to make an investment and buy. Also, they have dressing rooms and encourage you to try on what you like. Staff was okay, not too friendly, but to me it’s better than in-your-face sales people. Just plain and simple costume shop. Loved it!!!

I always try to avoid playing this card, but sometime it has to be played. As a resident of Dearborn, there is a large population of honest all-American Arab/Muslim Americans. I am one of those and we like to be treated the same way you treat non-Muslim customers. I say this because I wear the Hijab and you can tell right away that Im Muslim. On several occasions I’ve walked in and have never been greeted EVER. Meanwhile the next person walks in and doesn’t happen to be Muslim gets the red carpet treatment. I know they see me because we’ve made eye contact as soon as I walk in and the lady at the counter always turns away. This has happened to several of my friends who also wear the scarf. It’s not right to treat your customers different just because THEY are different. We speak English and we like to be told«hello, is there anything I can help you with?» just like any other customer. Like I said, I don’t like playing the«prejudice» card but in this case, it has to be brought out. I work and pay my taxes as well as do volunteer work in the community. If you don’t LIKE us spending our money at YOUR local establishment, we will gladly go down the street to party city where I am greeted EVERY time.

I ventured out to Lynch’s in search of a cool Halloween costume. I bypassed the first floor, which seemed to be full of performance-type items. Any ballerina would be in heaven. Upstairs held all of the Halloween items. There seemed to be a lot up there. but just nothing I was slightly interested in. I’m not particularly keen on renting a costume and the packaged ones looked cheap with not-so-cheap prices. They also seemed out-of-date with a very mild variety.

I’ve been going to Lynch’s since I was a kid and did local theatre. Whatever I needed they had – new jazz shoes, spirit gum, fake noses and green make up for when I played the wicked witch of the west, etc etc. It was so exciting going in there – I could be anyone I wanted on the stage and I got all my gear from Lynch’s. Of course those performance days are behind me but I still pop in whenever I need costumes or accessories for Halloween or Unilocal stuff and I still get that thrill of possibility every time I go in. The first floor is primarily costume accessories like glasses, props, wigs, and hats(loads of hats on the ceiling and at different price points as well) along with shoes, make up and dance accessories like leotards, notions and more sequins than perhaps the entire cast of RuPaul’s Drag Race combined. The top floor is primarily costumes – both to buy and fancier more elaborate outfits to rent. Seeing that it’s Halloween time(my favorite!) I definitely perused that floor for a while looking for some costume ideas. For purchasable costumes they have a decent selection although I think a Halloween City might carry more of a variety. But it’s the rentals that stand out. Keep in mind that they’ve been worn by many, many folks and in that case I think their selection and the quality is pretty impressive. I didn’t get to look for too long here since I prefer to either buy or make my own costumes but if you’re looking for something more professional this might be the place to check. The prices here are reasonable and the comparable to most costume/Halloween shops in the area. I’d agree with the reviewer before me who stated that while the staff is nice they’re not overly friendly. They’ll help you out but you won’t get warm and fuzzies here and that’s ok by me. Parking is kind of a bear but it is what it is. I miss the old days when you could park behind in the lot for free. Now it’s all pay parking there and you have to drive in loops to get to the lot if you don’t enter in the right place but that’s not a Lynch’s issue that’s a downtown Dearborn issue.

These guys definitely have a lot of stuff. They have costumes for sale, costume rentals, but they really focus on dancewear. They have some stage makeup, but most of their stock seems to be face painting makeup like Snazaroo. Two things: Their staff is helpful, but not exactly friendly. Their Easter Bunny rentals are kinda scary.
