I love the fact that they have different products than your standard grocery. Walmart has ethnic sections but the selections are limited and rely heavily on the demographic. Aldi’s carries a good deal of German and Italian products you can’t get anywhere else in Decatur, AL. It’s a no frills store but they pay their people a decent wage and I salute them for that and will start shopping there more for that reason if for no other!

Great for families! First off Aldi doesn’t accept checks. They take cash, EBT, and Debit/Credit. They also don’t bag or supply you with bags. You save a lot of money in the store because of this fact though. I don’t mind bagging my own groceries. That way it’s bagged the way I like it. Aldi is excellent for inexpensive produce! We’ve been getting 10lbs of Russet potatoes for $ 2.99 for over 6 months now from Aldi. Other grocery stores charge up to 5 dollars for a bag of spuds. The 5 pound bags of red potatoes are usually $ 2.49. Really inexpensive! That’s under 30cents a pound for russets and under 50 cents a pound for red potatoes. The avocadoes are usually under a dollar, anywhere from 99 cents to 49 cents depending on the week. The fresh broccoli heads, 2 in a pack, are usually between a .99 and 1.69. Super cheap! The heads of iceberg lettuce are usually .99 and under. They have a tri-color bell pepper pack that is under 2 dollars. This week I got it for $ 1.49. Most stores charge $ 3.99 a pound for red bell peppers! Aldi had them beat! The onions are always cheaper at Aldi. I got a 2lb bag of sweet onions for .99! Most stores charge at best 99 cents a pound. The fruit is usually a really good price. I’ve seen grapes and pineapple at Aldi cheaper than anywhere else. Even if the fruit’s been picked through, for the price, you can salvage way more than what you are paying for it. I’ve always had good luck in their produce department. Their loaves of regular whole wheat and oat bran breads are $ 1.19. That’s way cheaper than at the store. They have english muffins for around the same price and mini wheat bagels in a bag for under 2 dollars. Their Stollen, a German holiday cake, is a favorite of my german mother-in-law and is always under 5 bucks, when it’s available. Their milk is always the cheapest in town! It ranges from $ 2.09 to $ 2.69 a week, depending. That’s for a gallon folks! And yes it’s rbst hormone free! Their butter is always a good deal, this week at $ 1.89 a pound! Their eggs this week where .99 a dozen for large eggs. I love their fresh salsa in the lunch meat section! It’s only $ 1.99, where Publix’s deli salsa is $ 2.99 at least. Their salsa is preservative free and they have a few different varieties. I love the southwestern best. They also have an artichoke variety that is good. Their hummus is good and is under two dollars as well. It’s right next to the salsa. They have a variety of cheeses in blocks and slices. They also have some mexican varieties; I like the mexican parmesean personally. They have fresh mozzerella balls as well. Sometimes they have cheese balls, like port wine covered in almonds. They also have specialties that come in and are next to the meat section, like Odum, Gouda, etc. Their dollar frozen pizzas by Mama Cozzi aren’t bad at all. My husband likes them. I replaced Totinos with the Aldi brand because Totinos doesn’t use real cheese in any of their products anymore. Aldi does! Plus they are cheaper. The fresh pizzas in the deli area are superb and run you about $ 6.99 if I’m not mistaken. They are huge, too! Bigger than an XL at any pizza delivery place. The crust on these babies is awesome and they put a ton of cheese on them. They come in cheese and pepporoni. At least with the cheese being so big, I can take it home and add my favorite toppings on my side. Aldi’s canned goods are cheaper than any grocery store and so far stand up to named brands on quality and taste. I like their black beans and canned peas, especially. Their trash bags, 30 gallon, are under $ 3.00 a box and are now the only bags I’ll buy. Their mil, or thickness, is just as thick as the name brands, thicker than some, and I’ve never had one break on me. Their aluminum foil is $ 2 something for a 75sq. foot heavy duty roll. It works great. Their paper towels are only 65 cents for a single roll and are excellent. Their dishwasher detergent is around $ 2.79 a box and is phosphate free and fabulous! Their dishwashing liquid is around $ 1.69 for a huge bottle and is wonderful! It doesn’t stink up your sponges or rags like Dawn has a tendency to do. Oh, before I go on forever. My favorite is that their Clancy brand of potato chips are now ALLNATURAL! They are only $ 1.29 a bag! Lays is around 3 bucks and their barbque are NOT natural, neither is their sour cream and onion. Their tortilla chips are usually around .99. Their bags are usually between 13 – 16 oz, not the 10 ounce bags they try to slip to you by Golden Flake. Also, they sell 5 pound bags of sugar, not 4 pounds. This week the bags were 2.09, if I’m not mistaken. They also have cooking oil that’s always around 2 dollars a container. I better quit, I could go on forever about Aldi. Afterall, being a full time parent, you have to be aware of what you are buying for your family and where to get a good dear

I’ve been in here before but never thought of writing a review. it’s a narrow, small store with lots of cheap food! You plug a quarter into your shopping basket to unchain it and start shopping. As I said, the prices are ridiculously low and pretty generic but there are some hidden gems. The strawberries(.99) were picked over and not too tempting though I’m sure they were looking better earlier in the day. I found some Maple Syrup/Pecan Instant Oatmeal for $ 1.74 and some health bars for $ 1.39, The frozen section had some nice products like choice steaks and burgers. the dessert section was meh. I liked it that the cashiers all sit and scan, placing it into a shopping cart. No bagging and no carpal!
