Chicken with Brown Sauce($ 6.99) — Ok sure, it sounds pretty unappetizing, but that brown sauce over the yellow rice was a match made in heaven. You can pick white or dark meat for your chicken– I happened to choose dark, as I figured it would be more flavorful. I also added a side of collard greens, which were just ok. Jerk Chicken($ 8.50 for larger portion) — This jerk chicken wasn’t really spicy in the sense of burning out your tongue, but it was definitely tasty. The flavor provided by the seasoning managed to permeate through the chicken so that even if you decided not to eat any of the skin, it would still be tasty. The rice and beans accompanying this dish was okay. Beef Patty– pass on this one. Basically a(literally) inflated looking patty with not much ground mush inside. A stomach space waster. :( The prices and portions here are very generous. Since it was Saturday(a slow day for them), they didn’t have their goat curry or other fish dishes. I would definitely want to get their goat curry next time around. There are special discounts for Emory and City of Decatur employees. Why not for CDC? I hope this place stays open this time around.

I went to Debbie’s during the transformation and yes it was bad… But they are under new management and the food is so much better. I like it.

Yes, it still looks the same, but it’s not Julie’s, not even close. I was hoping that the change was in name only, but I was sadly, oh so sadly, mistaken. The food was not good(dried parsley in the rice? really?) and the service was terrible. The woman at the counter could not have been slower, even with a line of people behind me, and she asked me 4 times what I ordered. When I asked where the ladies room was located, she replied, «I have no idea». Umm, it’s your job to know these things. Then a horrid melting plastic smoke filled the room and we had to leave into the rain. THECAKE, however,(signage said carrot cake, it was banana) was delicious, and the only reason I might go back there.
