The meatloaf sandwich on Texas toast was awesome! It’s really a shame it closed. We went there a few times while our baby was in Children’s Hospital. Really nice folks and good food.

Kitsch’n 155 is now closed. Fun diner-esque place with good burgers and sweet potato fries. Not much seating on the inside but large patio is perfect for nice weather. Was too full to try homemade ice cream sandwich but will make sure I have it next time. Only downside is the expense. Dinner for two adults and two kids was $ 40+ with tip.

It’s a sad day when a great family run restaurant closes. I had only discovered Kitsch’n a few months before they closed, but came to really love their food and service. The burgers were Devine and the grits were Great! Will miss them and the family… but at least they closed because a better opportunity came along. Good luck and thanks!

Sorry to see this place go. The note on the door stated that the owner(the dad) had closed the place because he accepted an offer(one too good to turn down) to work for another family owned /operated business. The note also stated that Saturday March 9th was their last day of business before shutting down for good(I was there having lunch that day). I would be curious to know more(if any of you out there know any further details) and I would like to hear more about it.

Ehrmagerd, Burgers! This or something like it came to mind when I took my first bite of one of their creations back in January 2012. I had just arrived to Atlanta, as an exchange student at Emory University’s Goizueta Business School. The exchange students were living in the Highland Lake community so Kitsch’n 155 was basically right on my doorstep. On a whim I went there with some friends on the third night or so and became a regular customer for the rest of my stay. I believe it’s a family business — at least that’s the impression I got. Since I’m not from the US I don’t see myself in the position to assess the authenticity of this diner or whatever it might be — I can just say I really liked the fancy interior(just like I always imagined an American diner to look like) and the friendliness of the owners and staff. One minor thing though: When we were sitting outside some time in April a friend of mine didn’t notice the small«no smoking on the premises» sign in the window and lit a cigarette. The owner came to our table and kindly asked him not to smoke on the premises. My friend apologized and went down to the road, at the far end of the parking lot to finish his cigarette. The owner appeared again and this time got kind of narky — like many Americans seem to get, whenever you don’t follow their orders without questioning(think museum guards or so). He told him in a very rude and unfriendly manner that smoking was not allowed there either. Heck, if you have a huge parking lot that visually clearly appears to be separated from the restaurant area and you are really THAT keen on people not smoking on your property(and not just near the restaurant), then make yourself clear from the start. Other than that — amazing burgers, delicious chili dog and the best sweet potato and cajun fries I’ve ever had.

Every time I pass by this place it is closed. These owners must be the stupidest people in the world because you’re setting yourself up to fail if you’re restaurant is closed at 5pm on a weekday when there is a giant traffic jam in front of your place. Get better hours!

Kitsch’n 155 is within a stone’s throw of my apartment, and within walking distance of my job. During my first few months in the neighborhood, it was one of the many places that I kept saying«I definitely need to go try that.» I finally went for the first time on election day, just a few weeks after they started serving breakfast, for a breakfast grilled cheese. I’ve been back a couple of times since, once for another breakfast sandwich and another time to have a hot dog for lunch. Overall, I’d say this place is a winner. The menu is a little bit on the pricey side, but the value is great. I’d much rather spend a couple dollars more for a real, fresh burger here than save the money and go through the Wendy’s drive thru one more time. I think it’s the little things that make this place wonderful overall. In addition to the great ambiance, fun additions like hand-squeezed OJ and a variety of ice cream float options are what make Kitsch’n special. The hotdog is the stuff of dreams, exactly what you want to eat when you’re craving one. Bonus points to them for having a menu of toppings that you can add for no additional charge, including slaw! So if you’re looking for an excellent lunch of the burgers-n-fries variety, this is a great choice. They have specials each day that you can find out by liking them on Facebook, including cookies and other treats.

I had an absolutely stellar experience at this place. I have a personal philosophy of ‘If you can’t think of anything negative to say, give the place 5 stars.’ And so that’s what I’ve done. This may not be what you hear of when you think 5 star dining, because it is a burger-and-fries-at-the-counter sort of place, but Kitsch’n rocks its own particular milieu. I don’t know this for sure, but it seemed I was in a family place, as the seeming mother and daughter team who took my order at the counter were quite friendly and fun. While the place has a surprisingly extensive menu, if you specialize in burgers I’m going to order your burger. You do order a la carte, which some don’t like or see as expensive, but I think of it as paying for what I am going to eat. Being starving, I opted for sweet potato fries and grilled mushrooms. This burger was terrific. Great meat flavor, cooked medium as I asked, with fresh veggies for ingredients as toppings. It was seasoned well, without tasting salty. For less than $ 6, I thought the burger was one of the top in its class, and did not require many condiments nor toppings. The sweet potato fries and mushrooms were excellent sides, both served in excellent quality and quantity! I would order both again, but only one at a time. And the reason for that is to save more room for dessert. Although full, I could not pass up trying one of their cookies of the day. A masterpiece of chocolate chip on the day I went, this thing should not be missed. In fact, you can order an ice cream sandwich made out of two cookies of the day. The thing was about as big as my burger, and unbelievably one of my lunch companions had one as her entrée, much to the delight and praise of her fellow Unilocalers. I can only imagine that eating something like that would leave me feeling down later, but the one cookie I had gave me that excellent balance between healthiness and happiness. Hmm, I think I just talked myself into going back for another…

Woo-hoo! This has become my favorite guilty pleasure on the weekends. Great family run atmosphere and the service is ALWAYS awesome. The food is fresh and comforting. They have various sandwiches and homemade sides with specials that change daily. Some of the best sweet potato fries in town! The burger is huge and also one of the best in the metro. There is a blue plate special that changes daily as well as some side dishes. Everything I’ve had here has been really good They have a variety of old school sodas and great iced tea. Very kid friendly as well, but its never bugged me, it just seems natural and makes me smile because they seem to have fun here. If you don’t like this place, then you need to re-examine your outlook on life. Bravo guys, well done.

The stated philosophy at Kitsch’n 155 is «tasty tacky fun», which makes it sound like some sort of unholy amalgam between Chuck E Cheese and a Cracker Barrel gift shop. It’s unlikely that I would have ever sought this place out on my own, but a group meet-up compelled me here at noon on a Saturday. Consequently I would not recommend this venue for group meet-ups of any size greater than four people; the interior is super tiny with very limited seating. The atmosphere could certainly be described as kitschy, with bright teal and red paint splashed across every surface, old soda and highway signs strung about, and some sort of memory game made from bottle caps near the counter. It’s unique to be sure. They offer something resembling classic diner food with a blue plate special(changing daily), hand dipped milkshakes, burgers and sandwiches. Everything on the menu seems a bit overpriced and it’s mostly a la carte, excluding the blue plate special. So you’ll likely drop $ 6 – 8 on a main and $ 2 – 3 on a side. They offer a fairly impressive selection of real sugar bottled sodas, but those will set you back a cool $ 2.50. I ordered a Grownup Grilled Cheese sandwich, a small cup of chili and a bottle of Orange Nehi. The sandwich was sublime. I mean, you really can’t go wrong piling four different kinds of cheese and some bacon on Texas toast. Delicious! The chili tasted alright but it wasn’t hot enough for my taste. The grated cheese on top never came close to melting. I liked the chunky texture and the sliced jalapenos though. As for the Orange Nehi… well, I can’t remember the last time I had a Nehi. But it definitely transported me back to my childhood. Uncle Frank used to keep a supply under the sink and that was the best part of visiting good ol’ Uncle Frank. While the atmosphere and the prices didn’t impress me, the food was scrumptious and I enjoyed eating at Kitsch’n 155.

I came here for one of the Empress’s UYEs a few weeks ago for a Saturday(or Sunday, who’s keeping track?). I was under the impression this place served brunch, so what I was expecting and what I really got where two different things. But now I know what to expect, I can easily come back as give this place a 5 star review… When approaching it on Clairmont, the first impression I had was that Arby’s Dairy Queen, and Icee all had a love child, and this was the product. It is a counter service restaurant(as I said, I had NOIDEA what to expect), with a simple menu. Not too many brunch items here– unless you eat chili dogs for brunch. Nostalgic sodas– some of the bigger selection I have seen(makes Cracker Barrel look like they don’t even sell any!) — so if that is your thing, this place is for you. I ended up getting a large chili dog and some type of fries. Now the barbarian I am, I usually just pick up my food and inhale it. I actually behaved this time, and I knife and forked it! OK, it was a big dog. It belonged on the plate and not my hands. The chili was excellent as was the cheese and bread. Hell, the whole thing was great! The fries I had were great too, reminded me of the varsity. Oh yea, they give you a CRAP ton. The Empress decided to order an ice cream sandwich, and low and behold– it was the size of lower Manhattan. That was also the first ice cream sandwich I have ever seen that was Knife and Forked. She was nice enough to give me a piece and lemme tell you, that was a pretty damn good dessert! Best ICS I have ever had. Overall, it was a great time– and we got there at just the right time– as the line started to get out the door. This was just shy of 5 stars, as because it threw off my expectations a tad too much at first, but I can assure you with the quality of food and the people there, I will be going back, and I am confident I can give them 5 stars. Besides, it gives me something to live for. Cheers!

I ate here 5 days ago and my arteries still haven’t recovered. First of all, this place is small. If it’s not patio weather, I wouldn’t recommend rolling in with a group larger than 4. Secondly, this place is precious. I love kitsch and it lives up to its name. The menu consists of diner favorites like burgers, hot dogs, and blue plate specials. I couldn’t deny the chili and the«grown up» grilled cheese, and I don’t regret anything I ordered. My doctor probably would, but no matter. It was delicious. The chili had an interesting little kick and the grilled cheese, complete with tomato, bacon, and 4 kinds of cheese, was grown up in the best possible way. Since I can’t be a responsible adult all of the time, I had to go back for the ice cream sandwich. This isn’t some Mayfield crap: this is two homemade cookies with 3 heaping scoops of Ben and Jerry’s vanilla ice cream in between. It might be the best thing that’s ever crossed my lips. The cookies on their own would be heaven, but this just took it over the top. Prices are good, service is friendly. Atlanta needs more of these.

Wow, the food here is great! I got the Blue Plate Special: Fried Chicken and 2 Sides(I got artichokes and sweet potato fries). The chicken was amazing! It was so juicy and crispy, and not too salty. The sweet potato fries were crispy, and the artichokes were pretty good(a bit too oily). Afterwards, I got a chocolate milkshake. Phew, I was full! Everyone else was satisfied and surprised at how good the food was :)

Bumping to 5 stars for sourcing healthy & humane meat products, offering old fashioned soda without HFC, and making the best dang blueberry pie I’ve ever fought over for the last bite. The blue plate is a great deal and I’ve enjoyed several variations. Love the fish and baked apples. Mmmmm… Cheers~

–_– … as I scan the chalkboard menu with my Asian eyes… O_O — «Fried Bologna(„Baloney“ as they spelled it!) Sandwich»!!! No kidding. I gave it a shot, because it was supposedly beef bologna from a local source. Was it good? Definitely. And while in one sense I was full of baloney after the meal, I promise you I’m not full of it in this particular instance. In all seriousness, it was a great sandwich– the sweet dijon mustard with a tinge of kick went very well with the melted colby cheddar cheese enveloping the fried meat. Toasted(more like grilled) and buttered texas toast gave a good crispy texture to the sandwich. At $ 6 a sandwich, it’s affordable, but not necessarily«a steal» in terms of portion size/value. But worth a try for the heck of it. And that’s no baloney… sorry…(not really).

My friends and I have been driving by this place for months, and we’ve always told ourselves: «We should eat there sometime!» A few days ago, I finally got myself to go with a few friends. Overall, I’m glad I finally got around to eating here! I ordered the bacon blue burger(since I’m a sucker for blue cheese and bacon in my burger). I was very impressed. The patty is prepped with blue cheese inside and is cooked & seasoned really uniquely in a way that really harnesses/complements that juicy backyard-bbq meat flavor. Oh and there’s 2 patties in a burger. So right away, I thought of Five Guys. If you compare the regular burgers, I would say that Kitsch’n 155 has the edge because you can get your two-patty burger with the same assorted toppings and better cook/taste for cheaper. I also ordered sweet potato fries. As a huge fan of sweet potato fries(and hearing positive reviews about the ones here), I was pretty disappointed actually. They were very thin, crispy, and even slightly burnt(I prefer thicker, crunchy, and more potato-y fries). I looked around, and the regular fries didn’t look like my fries at all; so I guess I ought to get those next time. The sweet-potato-fries crown still belongs to Farm Burger(Decatur, GA), and I guess this is where Five Guys has the edge over Kitsch’n 155(for their regularly over-generous portion). All in all, I would definitely eat here again for a great burger. I can’t wait to go back :)

Uh, yummmmmm. This place looks typically touristy and not like someplace to actually eat, just to look at… but it’s surprisingly tasty. The grown-up grilled cheese is a MUSTGET. MUST. Tastiest grilled cheese sandwich I’ve ever had, apart from the grilled cheese daily specials at Noon(RIP). Four kinds of cheese, tomato, bacon, green onions… does it GET better? I got coleslaw as a side, and I feel like it should come with a disclaimer that it’s not yo momma’s coleslaw… it’s not sweet at all, and there’s very little dressing on it. Still tasty! But it definitely features the flavors of the veggies and not the entire«coleslaw» experience. Indie Boy got the grilled chicken sandwich, which was really really delicious. A lot of flavor for a pretty basic grilled chicken. They have Red Rock Ginger Ale here!!! Next time I’m here, I’ll Lactaid up before coming out and try a milkshake. The people who work here are SOSTINKINGNICE. It always adds to an experience when you have someone truly nice helping you. You can totally tell that it’s a family kinda place. I also looooove sitting by the big window in front. Nothing particularly special to look at out the window, but I just like the fact that it’s there. You know? You know. I’m definitely coming back, since I’ve been in Decatur a lot these days. Next time, I am trying a burger and a milkshake. And probably the sweet potato fries.

Kitsch’n 155 is definitely worth your while… Kitsch’n 155 has taken the«5 guys» concept, added some more quality menu items, put it in a small, yet cozy, retro interior(as opposed to the always spartan«5 guys») and put forth some genuinely winning customer service. Some of the«kitsch”-ness comes from the fact that this is an old, o-l-d Arby’s location from the 70s with the curved roof architecture that used to have a giant cowboy statue sitting on the front of the façade. The burgers are great and hold together well. There are a variety of burger toppings(a la «5 guys») at no extra charge and the fries are fresh not frozen. Good luck to the future of Kitsch’n 155, they should take over the old Arby’s location on Buford Highway in Doraville as well… it has more seating and has been empty for years since a Phở place fled the space.

Really cool place. Great simple menu. Really liked that it seemed like a family operation. Had a burger with grilled mushrooms, had an excellent flavor. Seating is limited inside, so come early. There’s also good seating outside, except when it’s HELL degrees outside. They only use organic and sustainable meats, which I thought was cool, and would probably explain the(what I thought were) higher prices. $ 5.50 for just the burger, sans a side. They definitely had the most expensive«blue plate special» I’ve ever seen at $ 9.50 for the Kitsch’n Chicken with two sides. Service was friendly, the owner came around making sure all we’re happy, and it seemed very genuine, which is rare these days. I wish them success, and if I’m in that area and itching for a burger or chicken sandwich, I’ll check ‘em out again.
