Mo Better Chicken

Good food!!! They always come through when I am in need of a good meal! Chicken is seasoned to perfection.

Hmmm, this review is mixed. I like that there is a soul food restaurant in the area. The staff is warm and hospitable. The prices are great. I don’t know too many places where you can get two pieces of chicken (baked or fried), two sides and a roll or cornbread for $ 6.99. They also close at ten most nights and you can call ahead to place an order for fried fish. There’s also free parking and there’s a large, clean dining area. So why only three stars?
The menu never changes, I mean ever. There is a varied selection of sides. There’s cabbage, collards, candied yams, yellow rice, black eyed peas, lima beans, Mac n cheese and okra and tomatoes. How can I rattle off the list in my sleep? Because it never changes! There’s also baked chicken, fried chicken, chicken with gravy, fried fish and wings. Occasionally oxtails are offered on Sundays. For dessert there’s sliced pound cake and sweet potato pie. The formula must be working cause there’s always a short line.
I’m told that the veggies are from the Farmers market and nothing is canned. I’ve had all the sides and the fried and baked chicken. The sides are really bland, the baked chicken was decent and the fried chicken is overrated. It was fried way too hard and could have been a be a lot ‘Mo Better.’ See what I did there? Lol. I don’t eat catfish but it’s piping hot and fresh and Granny gives it props. And the price is right. A three piece catfish meal is $ 8.99.
In short, this is not my cup of tea. However, I will remains the Dutchess of Mo Betta (grudgingly) because my grandmother loves it. Who can argue with that?

After fellowshipping with Power of Faith Family Worship Center around the corner, I ate here for what I think is now my 4^th time. As usual, it was delicious, once again I enjoyed the outstanding chicken. However, as I dined inside the premises, I experienced something just a little different this time, which caused me to remove one star from my previous reviews.
Coming out of the Sanctuary there were a lot of people waiting in line — fine — I see no problem with waiting a couple minutes for quality. Perhaps on account of all the orders/​all the food being baked and fried, it was very warm inside there. The 1^st of May temperature was just 80° but without air conditioning or even a couple of fans, it definitely took some enjoyment out of this meal (wiping off my forehead and cheeks of the constant sweat). Other than that I would’ve given them a 5 star review again.
Just a tip, FYI; management, please get a couple fans in there before summertime REALLY hits.

I wasn’t expecting much when I walked through the door. Food behind the case and looked like it had been sitting. I was hungry to I said a prayer and hoped for the best!
I got the spicy two piece special with Mac n cheese and string beans. To my surprise the food was fresh and much better than I expected. Although the young lady behind the counter stated the spicy chicken wasnt spicy I would beg to differ it was pretty hot (but tasty) just a heads up for those who don’t like too much heat.
The young lady behind the counter wasn’t rude but wasn’t friendly either. If return again in the future.

Mo Better is a staple restaurant in my house for good fried chicken like your mama makes. The fried fish and baked chicken/​turkey wings are seasoned just right. The veggies are always fresh and the rolls are big & buttery. It also helps that it’s reasonably priced and in the neighborhood. Give them a try you won’t be disappointed.

Have been here before. The food is okay. I just needed a veggie plate to keep in line with a healthy meal. The collards were salty and the customer service was horrible. There was a mistake in the order and the workers refused to correct the order. The man saying there was nothing he can do about it. I know customer service. Worked in a Fortune 500 company in the customer service department and this is horrible. I was 38 weeks pregnant and couldn’t get a simple exchange on an order. I will not come here again. Bad experience.

The food is average. Service is good. The Turkey Wings, black eye peas, yams and cornbread always hits the spot. Never had the the chicken. But the greens ARE the best and freshest in town.

One word WOW! That is what MO Better Chicken is. I went last night because of a friend recommended it. I was skeptical at first until I read the reviews on Unilocal.I got three chickens fried chicken wings greens and yams. It was GREAT!, I came back today and once again no disappointment it was BETTER! I agree this place is UNDERRATED!

I was nervous because there wasn’t many reviews. I decided that if I walked in and was turned off I would walk out. Went in really late. Got 2 pc dark with gravy. with Mac and greens. I was nervous bc the Mac didn’t look that great on the line.
Got home. Ate one bite. BOY THIS IS GOOD. I had my friend eat one bite. We ended up immediately driving back to get him a plate. Literally 10 min after my initial visit they were out of greens. He got the same thing as me but with the cabbage. He said it was really good. We will be back tomorrow.
This place is underrated.

I decided to check out this place yesterday and I got the two piece chicken dinner with rice and yams and cornbread. The chicken had some type of aftertaste that I couldn’t figure out but it wasn’t pleasant. It tasted a little bit better after the skin was gone and I drowned it in hot sauce. The yams and rice were edible… nothing to write home about. Overall this will probably be my first and last visit. As a plus the server was personable.

Horrible customer service. Called back to ask why and got cursed at and hung up on. No more of my money being spent here!

The baked chicken was fab, my family stole the rest of my food. Also bought a turkey wing dinner my family demolished… collards best I’ve had in a while.

Oh my u don’t dig chicken but I will only eat dark meat so here I am with one fried leg and a baked thigh. Fucktastic ! Green beans ok. Mac n cheese is great.
