The employees(owners?) were awkward. I’ll just leave it at that. Also, we were probably in the restaurant a good 5 minutes before we ever saw any employee. The pizza had large areas that had no cheese. The slices had obviously come out of the fridge, as the cheese wasn’t melted and had that«leftover» look. It was inexpensive, 2 slices and a coke for $ 4.50 I think, but I’d rather pay a bit more and get good pizza. While I’m at it, they have mobster photos and memorabilia all over the walls which just felt weird to me. It felt like a tribute to murderers. Just not a great experience. Go elsewhere.

Chris makes the best iced latte in town! Great service, tasty crunchy coal oven pizza, and cheap lunch specials. Love this place

After reading some nice reviews on Unilocal and in a newspaper article, my boyfriend and I decided to try Mona Lisa. I was craving some coal oven pizza, and it’s not too far from where i live, so we gave it a go. Oh boy. If only I could reclaim my 1.5 hours we spent there. I could write a long, bothered review about my whole experience, but let me sum it up briefly. After settling in outside, it took a good ten minutes to get anyone to come and greet us or take a drink order. Got our drinks, no straws(drinks are canned, with a cup). Server said she’d bring straws. We had to ask her twice afterwards, and finally got our straws once my soda was sufficiently watered down from the ice. Ordered caprese salad. The menu said it came with balsamic and fresh basil. No balsamic came, no fresh basil, just dry basil sprinkled on. Came quickly though, and I was starving, and knew at this point that if I asked for balsamic, I’d probably have to wait 20 minutes for it. Ordered the small margarita pizza with prosciutto and tomatoes. After a good 45 minutes and several«the orders are backed up, you’ll get your pizza soon» from the barking server, we finally got our pizza. The whole time, however, we were surveying our fellow patrons — no one had food either, and the place wasn’t even that full. Maybe 6 tables, so we couldn’t understand how the orders were backed up SO badly. Finally got our pizza after no apologies. It was mediocre. Good fresh mozzarella, but that’s about it. The server had to get the garlic powder, red pepper flakes etc., because — surprise, surprise — there were none on the table. She forgot the parm, and said she’d bring it right out. I got the parm just as I was finishing my last bite on my third piece, so clearly, it was of no use to me at that point. Asked for the check. We received the check about 10 minutes later, and then sat there, waiting for the server to return to run our card. We finally gave up after about 15 minutes, had to go inside, where the server admitted that she forgot about us. Then, we scampered out of there after paying when an altercation between the owner and a patron was about to get ugly… Yeah. ATROCIOUS service, mediocre food, lack luster establishment. NEVERAGAIN.

Bleh. They’ve descended into mediocrity. Sigh. The oven was too cold, so my pizza took 20 minutes to cook(a big no-no with a coal oven pizzeria). The staff seem to be clueless, and the staff turnover is appalling. Stay away.

Napoleans are hands down my favorite desserts. So I will give even a passable napolean a high score. But I did not find a passable napolean here. I was so excited to see that they had napoleans in the glass container near the cashier. Sadly, it was a big mistake for me to order it. The crust was not flaky, but leathery. And the custard was not creamy in texture, but was more like a curdled mealy texture. Big Fail. Sure they prices are high, but what do you expect given the touristy locale. The pizzas are good, so I won’t give them the dreaded one star.

This is a fantastic pizza joint in Deerfield. Their coil oven pizza is better than other similar joints in the area. Their cheese, sauce, basil and bread was fantastic and fresh! I almost fought my girlfriend and her dad for more slices! :) The main complaint I have about the place is that they need a few more waiters. It was an early dinner so it might explain why they didn’t have too many workers. I think they actually only had a cook and someone else working the tables. Parking might also be a hassle but it’s free as long as you park behind the restaurant in the few spots available. If that’s full, you can park for minimal cost in the huge parking garage a few hundred feet away. If you’re looking for this type of pizza, give this place a try. I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.

My first comment is how SLOW the service is… I guess they do a lot of business with tourist, so they don’t care how slow the service is… Pizza was very good, so I will give it 4 stars!

Atmosphere is great but if you have young kids I would not recommend sitting next to the mobster pictures hanging on the wall. =) We ordered a pizza bianca and it was perfectly cooked and delicious. The next pizza was a cheese pizza with fresh mozzarella, fresh basil, the best red sauce, and a drizzle of the most delicious, fruitiest tasting olive oil drizzled on top of the pizza. The crust was thin and once again was cooked to perfection in their brick oven. Staff is friendly and parking is free on the back of the premises. Depending on the day and time you go, parking could be a hassle since their lot is small. All and all every bit worth it! Prices are reasonable as well. This place is great! You have to try it now and every other day after that! Cheers!

I was in from out of town and checked Unilocal! For a good nearby pizza joint. Mona Lisa came up highly rated and did not disappoint. Great thin crust pizza!

Great pizza and caesar salad. I was concerned when he said he was out of pepperoni! But the truck magically appeared before our pizza was made. Issues were the cost and service. Looked like the same guy who made the pizza was also our waiter. Also very pricey-seems to be a Boca Raton standard! Loved the«wise guys» décor in the small dining room. We will return again.

Some of the best pizza I’ve had in Florida. Fresh mozzarella, fresh basil, good sauce. Nice décor, if you don’t mind pictures of mobsters staring down at you from the walls. Agree that the service could use some work(2.5 stars for service), but the pizza is so good I still give them 5 stars. The main problem in this little area of Deerfield Beach just across the street from the beach is the lack of parking. Mona Lisa’s does have a small private lot in the back, but on weekends chances are that you will end up having to pay to park in one of the garages nearby unless you get really lucky.

The pizza is delicious but the overall experience there isn’t so great. They are quite pricey and you don’t get that much pizza. Also, they could use a course in customer service.

Upon hearing the high reviews on this restaurant, and passing by it so many times, I finally decided to give it a try! The decorations are fun with tons of Italian families and a close line full of brassieres! We ordered a regular Margherita style coal oven pizza, and it was delicious! I’m not the biggest fan of thin crust pizza, but this was thin crust at it’s best. I just asked for the pizza to be lightly cooked so that it wouldn’t come out black, and it came out looking and tasting perfect! The cheese was a very good blend and was delicious. And a very rare liking occurred for me — I loved the sauce! Lol, but next time I find that I will be ordering extra basil! That’s my favorite topping and there just wasn’t enough. =P We also got the Chicken wings and they large, plump and juicy! It was seasoned with tons of grilled onions piled on top. It was sinfully scrumptious! All three of us enjoyed this pizza tremendously and would absolutely come back again: D My only sole complaint, and the reason that I rated this as a 4 star rather than 5 star review is because they really needed more help. I’m sure the waiter had the potential to be extremely nice, but he was so overwhelmed it took a long time to get sodas and also get a glass of water in the middle of the meal. So please, hire more help!

OK… So I think I found my favorite pizzeria in S. Florida… Mona Lisa! Since moving from New Jersey I have been on a mission to find my favorite pizza. and I think my search is over. This pizzeria is located on Hillsbourgh next to the beach. Prices are a little pricey, but I think it is well worth it considering the location and the quality of pizza. Pizza has think crust, right amount of to tomato sauce, with mozzarella cheese, and a bit of ricotta cheese or they have tons of toppings to choose from Pizza is made to order so you are always guaranteed a fresh pie. The décor sorta reminds me of the famous pizzeria in the movie«Do the Right Thing». If you are pizza lover, this spot is worth visiting.

This is one of the top pizza’s I have ever eaten, as good or better than any where in NYC. Mona Lisa is out standing, we were there during spring break and the place was very busy. Service was fast and we were seated quickly. Price were a little high but given it’s location, directly across the street from the beach should be expected. Crust super thin, this is pizza perfection. Be for warned, the large is 16″, however given the thickness of the crust 1 pie will easily feed 2 people. Try Mona Lisa and find out what pizza was meant to be.

Came here this evening with my mom. Parking was hard to find(had to settle for a meter), but I suppose that’s to be expected in this area. The hostess sat us promptly, but we waited at least 15 minutes for anyone to actually come over to us. I spotted three waiters, but no one so much as glanced our way. I finally asked the hostess to get our waiter to come over to us. When she asked us if it was a tall guy, I said, «I don’t know, we haven’t had anyone come to us yet.» She apologized and got our waitress to come over. She also was apologetic and said she didn’t know this was her table. She seemed really nice, but I got the feeling she was new and a little spacey. So we ordered the personal size margarita pizza to share — it’s a thin, coal-fired crust, with fresh plum tomato sauce, mozzarella and romano cheeses, topped with basil and olive oil. This was one of the best pizzas I’ve ever had… absolutely delicious. We wished we had ordered a large pizza instead, but we opted to save room for dessert. My mom got the éclair, and I got the napoleon. Both of us cleaned our plates — they were great. But the pizza was so good that next time I’d rather just have more pizza instead of dessert. So why four stars instead of five? The service. Our waitress meant well, but we felt rather forgotten a lot of the time(especially in the beginning). I’m going to give her the benefit of the doubt and say that she was probably new. But I also think they’d do well by having an extra waiter on Saturday nights. I will definitely be back here… this place has probably spoiled all other pizzas for me.

I am a fan of coal oven pizza and Mona Lisa’s does not disappoint. I went there once to try and and came out with all smiles — all I had was a large pie with pepperoni. I made my way over there again today(walked from work, which was a nice change). Had a couple of pies with some friends and its just as good as I thought it was going to be. We had two Miranda pizzas which has tomato sauce, home made mozzarella, and a couple of toppings. The inside of the place is really nice with mobster décor. the service is great — if your not waiting on a table(it can get full, depending on the time you go). The only so-so thing I can think of is that there are no fountain drinks, its all bottle here but if your crave a good pizza and are down in Deerfield beach — try it out!
