I went there once with a guy who didn’t want to date me and got really shitty clam chowder and his wings were burnt. We’re not dating anymore and I haven’t been back since.

Got the hummus plate and a piece of pie. Best pie I’ve had in years. The hummus was perfect, exactly how I like it. Veggies were fresh and crunchy. The pie is to die for! Our waitress was really sweet and I love the train, what a great idea. This is a perfect place for date night.

I feel like this place is a hit or miss every time I go. From the waitstaff to the food, there is no consistency in the quality. I’ve gone in with large groups(15+ people) late at night and had excellent service. On the other hand, I’ve gone in for breakfast with just one other person on a very slow morning and had terrible service. Pros: Relatively cheap, open late, huge(maybe too huge) menu Cons: Average all across the board, doesn’t really stand out in any way If you’re in DeKalb and need some late night breakfast, I’d probably choose the Junction over IHOP just because of the price. It’s also a great place to go when you’re with a group of people and no one can agree on one specific thing. Pretty much everything they serve is American fare, but they also have literally every American dish you could ever think of.

It’s better than IHOP and the portions are very generous, but it is definitely a college town restaurant. Service is slightly above average and there isn’t really anything to complain about the food, but its basically just a place to go for convenience. For a fantastic breakfast, head to Sycamore.

The breakfast isn’t good… My friend and I went there on an after-midnight Saturday meet and ordered breakfast. I had the hobo skillet, she had a different skillet. My hobo was extremely dry and small for something listed for 9 $. My friend said her pancakes were really spongy and absorbed syrup quickly, didn’t taste good either.

My parents and I visited the Junction a couple of months ago for breakfast. It was alright. The place is incredibly small, so it gets loud quickly. The service was very speedy and friendly! The biscuits and gravy were good but the omelettes were average. It is fairly inexpensive.

Fries with a side of brown gravy. Doesn’t get more DeKalb than that. Yum. Do it to it.

The junction is a great place to eat in the college town setting. A typical, rather inexpensive diner that’s open till 2am or 3am. This is perfect for late night study sessions, or as a go to option when out late with friends.
The food and service are up to par, nothing incredibly stand out on the menu, but enough options and prepared well enough to keep one happy.
The décor is older and train themed throughout, but the aesthetic feels homey and welcoming which is a nice contrast from the surrounding fast food joints. The servers have also been nice, friendly and talkative and more then willing to offer suggestions for the indecisive type.
If you’re looking for a consistently good, sit down diner for decent prices at just about any hour, the junction is a safe bet to please just about every time.

Open 24 hours. Better than iHop. Right next to Molly’s. Deeeeeefinitely down to go after a night out. The Junction is a pretty standard diner. Haven’t been disappointed yet and their service is outstanding!

This place sucks. Décor is very dated. Breakfast was terrible. Both my wife and I had upset stomachs shortly after leaving here.

One of the best diners I’ve been to. I left utterly full and I’m a big eater. Breakfast was fast, tasty and a bit creative. Lunch was busy time but my group was taken care of, offered ideas and the price was right!

I been going here since I was 3, over 35 years and still love the breakfast. Now my kids can enjoy it too!

Great food and prices, it gives off that all-American restaurant feel. Really awesome atmosphere as well as friendly service. They gave me bacon when I ordered sausage but the bacon was cooked perfectly so I didn’t mind. Hash browns could use some work though!

11 different kinds of hot tea, tons of options, breakfast served all the time, open until 3am, huge portions, perfectly cooked bacon, and a great staff. So glad I came here! Its midnight and look at what I got!

Kind of a romantic feeling about the place. I have a lot of good memories about The Junction… none of them involve food. Perfect atmosphere for the late night scene. It’s the place to go when you’re up late studying, out with friends after a long night bar hopping, or you’re just up cuz you’re up! A pot of coffee is always on, and breakfast is served all day just as well as it is anywhere else!

Had the junction skillet, swapped in sausage for the ham. It was unflavorful and mediocore. I also got pancakes and they were undercooked, so spongy, very pale yellow. The syrup was nice and hot and tasty. The bread comes packaged for some reason, not a good nor bad thing, just interesting. The service is nice and the price is good. The rest of the people said their food was ok to good. For 8 of us it only cost us 80 dollars to eat, that’s pretty darn good.

I don’t understand the rating here. Back in college I was here almost once a week. It was one of a few sit down places that was open really late. I even befriended some of the wait staff there as well. I generally enjoyed it, would of given it 3.5 stars all day… However, a few year’s ago I noticed some changes. The quality and portion size of the food went down and the prices went up. I felt like things were not as good as there once were and I wasn’t getting as much as I normally did. But when I noticed the increase in the prices, I just about gave up on this place. I tired it again recently a week or so ago, and again I was disappointed. The wait staff here are good friendly people and I don’t fault them for the shoddiness of the food coming out. I fault the managers and owners who are kind of on the«D-Bag» scale. I’ve ran into them at local bars before and they’re not the best of people. Honestly you’re better off trying most other places in the area. Heck as much it pains me to say it, I’d recommend IHOP over this. So it’s a… must avoid.

Came here for breakfast while driving past Dekalb. I think at some point in time this was the place in Dekalb. Now it is the local greasy spoon that the locals meet at every morning. Not because the food is so outstanding, but because it’s what they do. The service was good, but could overhear another server being crabby and ornery. I’m glad we were not in her section. Food was average at best for this type of place. Nothing special at all. In fact my eggs were a little raw, I hope I don’t get sick. Coffee was weak and tasteless. My wife’s omelet had American processed cheese that looked like he just took off the plastic wrapper right before placing it on the omelette. Yuk. Potatoes were bland. Sausage patties looked like and tasted like they had sat on the grill for an hour. I’m sorry Junction, I don’t recommend you. Look deep into yourself and try to find a little effort and pride for your restaurant.

Business meeting? Social gathering? Come in and have coffee and great food! My friends and I usually go here if we want to chat and drink coffee. Breakfast is amazing. Made however you love it. Waitresses are fast. Food is fast. Nice atmosphere and a great piece of DeKalb!

The Junction… No muss, no fuss. They are not super classy but they are perfect for breakfast, a quick lunch and loading up on coffee. Their prices are great for the amount of food you get. They are a diner but service is fantastic. The servers check on you without being overbearing. Why is it 4 stars? Their soups are pretty terrible. There is a never a good variety. I now it may seem ridiculous but I really like a grilled cheese and soup. And the soups are never good matches. I really like their coffee. I like to come here after a night of drinking to eat something breakfast. Portions are large. I have never finished my meal. Most breakfasts come with toast, hash browns(and you can sub in and out from there). You get an excellent value for the price you pay.
