The food is great. I give that 5 stars. BUT do not order from them for delivery. I ordered a pita, Chips and a cookie. After I saw it was taking longer than it should so I called and got nothing but attitude. The person I talked to said I gave them the wrong address and they called me twice. They repeated the address back to me and it was correct. And they did not call me twice. But since I know the location of my place is a little tricky I gave them the benefit of the doubt. He said«well we’re closed now…» Then rudely sighed and said we’ll be there soon. I stood outside waiting so he would be able to find me and when he got here I apologized even though he was the one being rude and said yeah my apartment is right around the corner and he literally kept walking and did not even acknowledge I was speaking to him. As a paying customer I feel like the Attitude was completely unnecessary.

Easily my favorite place for this type of food. Giant pitas stuffed with anything you’d like-they have a grill as a fresh veggie bar(think subway-style but so much more). You can choose what meat or veggies you want on the grill and stuff your pita with veggies(I like spinach, Greek olives, tomato, cucumber, feta cheese, and carrots, along with grilled chicken, grilled peppers and grilled onions, topped with house made tzatziki sauce. But the possibles are endless.) They have amazing house made hummus and pita chips as well. The staff is always super friendly and the environment is really cool. Close to campus and they deliver as well.

It doesn’t matter if you’re a vegan, vegetarian, or a straight-up carnivore this place is for you. It’s a mix between a Chipotle and a Subway, just with a hipster twist on it. I’ve been coming here since I went to NIU(Go Huskies!), and when I visit campus, I still stop in for lunch. Back to the food, they have a variety of meats, vegetables, and sauces to choose from to get stuffed into your pita. Everything is fresh and homemade! The prices are a bit high for a college student, but it’s not terrible, either. The average pita is around eight dollars. My suggestion is to just get a pita and a drink, if you get chips you will be stuffed beyond belief! The people that work here are extremely friendly, and will guide you through the pita process with ease if it is your first time! There is also a Pac-Man machine, and a Tetris machine for you gamers. If you beat the high score on the Pac-Man machine, you will get a free Pita!(Score is roughly 160,000). Long story short, folks, stop by and enjoy this laid-back place! The music is great, and the food is wonderful!

Ordered dinner tonight for delivery. Everything was generously portioned, fresh tasting, and at a reasonable price. Our food arrived within 30 minutes and the online ordering process is super easy. We will definitely be ordering from here again!

I loved their food when I visited the NIU campus recently. It was very creative and you get to completely customize the pitas. Only downside was there were only maybe seven customers including me and it took 10 minutes to actually get my order. But it was delicious!

This place is pretty good for a different take on a sandwich shop. Might go back and try the falafel. A little pricey for some pitas but quality ingredients and nicely located on campus.

These guys are with the times: The pitas are tasty, huge, and they have options for everyone, including vegans. They cook the vegetarian/vegan stuff on a separate grill. Highly recommended!

Great fresh food! Quick delivery service! The pitas are large enough for 2 servings or 1 if you are really hungry. The sauces are all great and they are vegetarian friendly.

My husband and I stopped here for a dinner break on a 4 hour drive from O’hare airport and loved it! The pita’s were warm and thin and so savory. We both ordered fajita– style items and loved them. Their salsa is homemade and a little sweet and a little spicy. Both people working there were so friendly. We wish we lived closer!

Gross! Got a pita from this place for takeout, it took them forever to get to my apartment and I ended up getting immediate food poisoning. Very awful experience and will never be eating here again!

I really like Pita Pete’s! Fresh made-to-order pitas that are healthy and reasonably priced. Friendly service and a very convenient location for students! They even deliver!

Delicious and lots of great selection! Very nice staff too :) I got the naked pita which was a salad and I loaded it up with tons of veggies and lots of dressings to pick from I had to take half my salad home! My husband got a traditional gyro pita and he loved it! It was the size of his head!

I’ve been a fan of Pita Pete’s since I was stuck in DeKalb without a car for an extra day due to a cancelled flight last winter. I googled places that delivered food, and that’s how I came to my first tasty Pita Pete’s experience. The falafel pita is my absolute favorite. I love loading it with spinach, sprouts, black beans, and sunflower seeds and then topping it with the sweet and slightly tangy Caribbean mango vinaigrette. These«pitas» resemble huge burritos packed with tasty ingredients of your choice. I often even get extra falafel on the side to use in a salad at home later in the day. Their pita chips are also absolutely delicious: thin, crispy, and the perfect amount of salt. I always get an order or two of these chips with a pita because my boyfriend, who is more of a burger guy, also loves them. Pita Pete’s hummus is also luxuriously creamy. I haven’t explored the menu beyond the falafel because I love it so darn much. I always get it, whether I walk in for lunch or order online via Foodler for delivery. The coldness of some employees and the abbreviated hours during breaks are my only complaints about the place, but I guess that comes with being a small business in a college town.

I love this place but I’m writing this review based on the dept lunch we had today. Coworker #1 — falafel burnt, I’ve had better but nice portion of olives. Is it a $ 10 salad? No. 1star Coworker #2 — falafel burnt, not enough falafel for the price 1star Coworker #3 — I’m good, tuna definitely from a can though which is uninspired 4star Coworker #4 — had chicken Caesar wrap, it was good but not filling 4star Coworker #5(me) — loved it! 5star

Every time I come home from school, I have to get Pita Pete’s for lunch. Their food is wonderful. I love the variety of ingredients(black beans, corn, spinach, and a bunch of other stuff you don’t always see in Subway or Jimmy John’s), and the number of sauces makes for endless combinations. The staff is friendly and nice, and I enjoy talking to them when they cook my chicken or stuff my pita. The building is clean, and the employees make sure they are practicing all the good health code stuff with gloves and sanitation. TL;DR The joint has wonderful, healthy options, and great staff!

I love pita pete’s It’s the kind of place that makes me feel like a kid in a candy store where I can choose whatever I want from a huge list of delicious and fresh ingredients right in front of me – only a lot less guilt involved here because it’s basically a huge salad bar! And let’s face it, it’s hard to eat healthy in dekalb… so take refuge here! The general vibe of the place is very cool – great music and employees that love their job and want to provide good service. Get creative! Try something new each time!(Advice I find hard to take – I might really be addicted to the falafel…) flavor combination opportunities are vast! also, Let them give you tips as you build your pita – they know what’s up The baba ganoush is frickin off the chart And so is the black bean jalepeno hummus

«Why did I just pay $ 23 for two pitas and two drinks?» was the first, but not the last, question going through my head when I tried Pita Pete’s. Overpriced, service was abysmally slow, terrible and dry falafel that was the least authentic I have ever had. My boyfriend had to argue to get them to put cheese on his Philly CheeseSteak since the counter staff wanted to charge us extra for that — not that it mattered in the end, because the staff eventually disappeared and left us standing there awkwardly for ten minutes watching our food sit half-made and untouched behind the counter. Think of it like a less competent Subway but for double the price. The only redeeming qualities are the cool music and rock n roll posters.

Pita Pete’s offers a lot of options for your sandwich. The service was slow, almost too slow, but if you realize that they are cooking things to order, then you have to be patient. Slow means that you have a freshly cut pita, hot fillings, fresh and crisp toppings, and chilled sauce. I enjoyed my seitan pita with romaine, black beans, corn, and tomatoes with tzatziki sauce. and would come here again. I love that they have vegan options!

I struggle with my ranking of Pita Pete’s. It’s really more of a 3.5 stars kind of place. What’s great about this is how unique it is to the area and being essentially right on campus. The food here is actually quite good. I rotate between the traditional ham and cheese and BBQ chicken. If you are vegetarian or someone who eats on the healthy side, this place has a ton of good options for you. My issues aren’t with the food or the service necessarily. I just think it’s a bit overpriced for the amount of food you’re getting. Their hours as well can be a bit funky as well. I’ve come here a couple times when I’m in town to find them closed despite saying on Unilocal or their website they would be open. So there’s where my issue lie. If I were to review on food alone it’s easily a 4 out of 5. I’d say it’s a… must try

I graduated from niu in 2008 and still miss this place. Whenever I go back, I make sure to go. This is one of the healthiest places on campus. I get grilled chicken with romaine, cucumbers, cheese and fat free Italian– perfection! The actual pita is huge. My friends used to say«it’s really like a small child»! So even just having half is usually enough. I can’t wait for my next trip back.
