I have been to Yen Ching Village five times now and it has always been a good experience. Every time I have been there a small woman named Caroline is working. She has a friendly, bubbly demeanor and does everything she can to make her customers happy. When I am eating there I feel like she is my grandma– always up for conversation and offering jasmine tea because«it good for you!» The food is very good and the large portion is enough for a few meals in my book. I enjoy going here because of the friendly service even though it does not have the best décor. This is a good restaurant for killing time between class or picking up take out– not a place for a romantic DeKalb date.

My girlfriend and I decided to try this new restaurant out, so we ordered for delivery. First placing the order took ten minutes, and weren’teven placed on hold. It was during our order we learned the delivery minimum was $ 25. We ordered two large entrees, two small soups and crab rangoon, which totaled to $ 35. After an hourwait the food arrived. I had ordered the schezuan chicken, only to find a mediumsized Chinese take out box with«general tso» written on the container, crossed out and written below it «schezuan». I opened the container to find deep fried chicken covered in sauce and nary any vegetables. It was obliviously general tso. I looked like it and tasted like it. I have never seen schezuan chicken prepared in this manner. I called the restaurant to report the mistake, but was told that this indeed is schezuan chicken. Afterwards, I tried to eat it, but couldn’t. For mygirlfriend, she was very unsatisfied her meal and didn’twant to eat it. I decided todrive there, return the two entreesfor a refund. While waiting in line I see the whole was run by one man and one woman. On a Saturday night. After seeing this I started to feel sorry for them and that I was going to tell them bad news. After a bit, a woman came up to us. We explained the situation, and at first she was reluctantt to give a refund. She said they usually don’t give refunds for delivery orders. I was surprised by that. All I wanted was a refund and never come back, but she insisted on explaining to us how it was our fault that we are getting a refund. She says we should have dined-in instead, so that we can see the food before its given to us. She is trying to run a business and this doesn’t look good for her. After she said that it really pissed off my girlfriendand we had to leave. At least we got the refund of twenty dollars for two overpriced for their size meals. Fushi yami is way better, I know its Japanese, but for the price we were gonna pay here, we would’ve gotten so much more.

Decided to try it out after they took over the old Great Wall. This is the same family that owns Yeng Ching on Lincoln Highway. Food quality taste the same but sad the ambiance is not like the other location but… This place is great because they deliver!!!
