If only I could give 0 starts…“coz that’s how bad this restaurant is. Their fried rice sucked!!! How can a chinese restaurant not know how to cook fried rice??? Also, the potstickers were awful. the bread was way too thick… and hot and spicy chicken tasted funky… not worth the $ 6 at all!!! They certainly do not know what Chinese food tastes like.

As far as the food goes, it is not the best quality, but it is definitely above buffet grade Chinese. The prices are reasonable and the portions are filling. I always get their lunch special hot and spicy beef and a side of crab Rangoon.

They are only getting to stars because the staff is extremely nice. The food on the other hand is awful. Dont waste your time, I chinese place that cant even make fried rice correctly is a complele let down… If you are really crazing chinese go to China One is downtown dekalb at least their food is decent lol

I’ve been long gone from NIU, graduated years ago. But I just can’t get Happy Wok out of my mind. Happy Wok conjures up memories of driving home after school while eating my free fortune cookies, thinking of the wonderful food I would soon partake in. This place has great fried rice, specifically of the chicken variety. And how can you not love a Chinese restaurant with a drive thru?

As far as Chinese food goes, Happy Wok is a great option when you’re in a hurry or out late. Each location has its own«best» dish, though a tasty fried rice seems a common factor in all. For the DeKalb location, I recommend the Sweet and Sour Chicken(they’re light on the breading) and the egg rolls, which are just stellar. In addition to good food, the staff is friendly and helpful. Most are willing to make a suggestion if you can not decide what you want, and they have yet to steer me wrong. Like most Happy Wok locations there is little«atmosphere», in part due to their nature as fast food joints. Despite that fact, Happy Wok is still a tasty and inexpensive place to go if you are hungry.
Happy Wok is NOT bad. Actually, the food is decent and depending on what you order, it can be yummy. It is pretty good for fast food Chinese and I would much rather spend $ 6 bucks here than $ 9 at Panda Express.
