Our door wouldn’t open so we went back to the front desk who, instead of giving us a new room(bc they had other vacant rooms this night) he had us man the front desk while he proceeded to our original room that had issues. Hotel management 101 — never leave the front desk unattended. Hotel management 102 — never leave a client unsatisfied and unaccompanied at an unattended front desk.

Older hotel has been updated. Rooms clean with new furnishing. Free breakfast. Two great restaurants next door. Price was half of other chains in area. Next time in DeKalb will stay here again

It was fair for what I paid.(Got it cheap through AARP.) Room was fine not super clean but not terrible. Beds were pretty bad though. I was OK but husband ended up sleeping on floor(plus we’re not used to full size beds and we needed 2 beds.) There were only 2 towels in the room when we got there and one of them appeared to be drying, hanging from the back of the door — not from our use! But they brought more towels over really quickly. A/C was really loud so it blocked out all of the noise! Breakfast was respectable with more than just a few options. I’d say go for it if your not picky about beds and want a OK, cheap place to say.

Free breakfast, staff is professional and helpful. Be aware that the hotel is right next to train line, and there are freight trains running all day and night. It didn’t bother me as the heater/AC unit blocks out most of the sound, but there are rooms that are literally a few feet from the tracks — so keep this in mind when you make reservations. Also, in the summer they have an insect problem with some of the rooms — there are these flying ant-like insects as well as mosquitoes. Other than this, it is a comfortable place.
